I just recently got this game because I read the rave reviews and am an avid footie fan, playing myself at least twice a week. This game is amazingly realistic but relatively easy to play. It's perfect as you can control every aspect of the game -- numbers, match time, ect. as well as actually playing the game. This game is great for anyone, fan or not!
Much better then FIFA!

Where I come from it's called Pro Evolution Soccer 3 cause I'm from Portugal.
Graphics = 9/10
Playability = 10/10
Audio = 7/10
If you have somebody to play with you will never get sick of this game but if you're just one person you will get board fast.
But no doubt this is the greatest soccer( how you name this game there)ever. Don't ever buy FIFA, believe me. While this is out there, this is the game to buy.
The only better footie game than WE7 is Winning Eleven 8!!!

I've played most soccer games existing since 1985, and all the winningeleven series (since the first playstation 1 winningeleven) are BY FAR the most realistic and most entertaining games ever.
Winningeleven 7 improved several things in relation with its antecessor, such as movements, graphics, etc. It really is a blast of fun.

Now I can see why Japan shuts down every time "Winning Eleven" is released! I couldn't care less about soccer and I love it! I've never played "FIFA", but at this point, I don't want to. EA has gotten a one-two punch from Sega's "ESPN NFL 2K5" and this. The gameplay is absolutely phenomenal: simple but challenging and most importantly, F-U-N! This is Japan's "Madden" and one of the best sports games on the market! EA, it's a good thing you've stopped trash-talking your competition because they've blown you away this season. Olay!
FINAL SCORE- 9.5/10

Since the FIFA series came out, I have always been one of the many sheep to go out and buy it. But recently, I read a review about winning eleven, and decided to try it out. After two months of having it in my possesion, I confess that I have forgotten that I have other games to finish, or even soccer games to watch on tv!! It's that good!!! FIFA's soundtracks have recently been very very strange, but W E has a perfect soundtrack; not flashy but not boring. Then again, who cares about the soundtrack? youre there for the footy!! You will be dumbfounded at all the menus, which might be overwhelming to the ones who recently jumped on the soccer bandwagon USA, but for those who have been horrified by FIFA's lack of edit modes, you will love WE. EVERY single aspect of the game can be modified!! The AI in this game is great. You can actually tell that the computer gets fired up if you are dominating them, or it will desperately try and hold on to a lead if it is seconds away from a victory!! overall; BUY THIS!!!! I cant wait for Winning Eleven 8!!

I think this is the best soccer game ever, till the next one cames out, i have read some people complaining about fake teams and all that, What?s wrong with you!! you have the edit option and guides troughout the net that tell you exactly what you have to do to make them into real teams,, what it?s worth in this game it?s the perfect gameplay and sound .
come on,,, Fifa isn?t even close to this Winning Eleven .....

This game is the same as the European Pro Evolution Soccer 3 and if you have heard the buzz surrounding that game then you should know that this is really the only soccer game worth buying and probably in the top three sports simulations of all time. The game has been in development since the Nintendo 64 and is easily the best soccer engine out there. All of the players have full character skins that resemble the players in reality (real moving hair!), except some of the names are not the same because of license issues (don't worry you can edit everything in this game).
Apart from the outstanding game engine (replay mode is almost like real soccer on television) the character animations are intricate and extremely realistic. The players respond to fouls by falling in a multiple number of ways, other players throw their hands up in disgust at missing a goal or crash to their knees in exhaustion. Belt in a goal and watch them do a pile up as the crowd goes wild. Some players even have special moves.
Unlike most of the other soccer games this is a simulation rather than an arcade kick-about so if you are not prepared to spend a few days learning the controls and how to operate the environments, including formations and in-game strategies - you might just want to forget about this one, however this is the domain where the master players live and share memory card saved data with one another. In short soccer freaks the world over either have it, want it or plague the family of someone who has it.
The AI is really what makes Pro Evolution Soccer 3 stand out. It is also like really controlling little men on the pitch... what am I saying... they ARE really little men on the pitch (yes the game IS that good). There are 50 national teams and 60 fake teams. You need to go on the internet to find out who Konami imagined these fake teams to really be so you can edit in the right players names and team names (remember Konami does not have a license for everything so be prepared to do a bit of fiddling, however a huge percentage of the teams and players are already licensed).
There are multiple modes/games to choose from (up to 8 controllers/players can be used with this game) friendly matches, team play, match modes, cup modes, leagues, training simulations, edit modes and a Master League mode, each with several options for the type of game you want to play... there is no shortage of cups to win in this game. When you win about 3 cups you then have enough credits to start team transfers (meaning you can update EVERYTHING in this game to resemble actual football teams) and you can also create your own ALL STARS team.
The bottom line is that the manual for this thing is huge and it is everything you could ever want soccer to be. If there is one soccer game to own for the PS2, then this is it by a long shot. It is a great investment considering how many of your friends will play it to death with you over the many weekends to come.
If you play sport and don't own this game, then what are you waiting for? Just get this game, learn it, read the manual and be the best you can at it. This is the universal PS2 game that everyone who loves soccer plays and a really good dream team effort from Konami.
Best Sports PS2 game of 2004--even better than Madden!

I pretty much play only sports games on my Playstation 2, and this rates up there with Madden 2004 and ESPN NBA Basketball as the best sports games I have played this year. This game is so good it will actually make you want to watch soccer, and when you do you will realize how this game almost eerily recreates the atmosphere and gameplay of real soccer. It truly makes FIFA 2004 seem laughable--and FIFA 2004 is a pretty good game by sports games' standards. Warning: this game is fairly complex, with a 50+ page instruction booklet, and can cause a little frustration, but once you get into it you will be completely absorbed and probably push aside all your other games for at least a month. Here are some suggestions to help you out if you have never played before: 1. Start with the basic controls on the two star level (three stars is the default, and is really tough on beginners). 2. Go to training mode, click on Challenge Training, and prepare to have fun and learn a whole lot about how to play this game. These are much like the Madden drills, and teach you skills such as passing, shooting, dribbling, defending, and free kicks. 3. Play in Cup Mode with an international power such as Brazil or England. You should be able to pull out a good finish. 4. Check a website like www.cheatcc.com or db.gamefaqs.com and go to Edit Mode and rename the club teams. Most of the players already have their correct names, but it is nice to know when you are playing Manchester United. 4. Now you are ready for Master League, the greatest franchise mode in any sports game. You will start with a mediocre team, so when negotiations come up grab an unlocked player or a player without a club. It is okay to go in the red as long as you are not under 10,000, and have money when the next season begins. 5. Go to options and play around with the language of the announcers. Even if you don't understand a word of French, Spanish, German, or Italian, these announcers make the game a lot more fun! Gooooooaaaaaaaaalllllll! If you have a reasonable amount of time to dedicate to a soccer game, this is the one to get. It is so great it actually will make you a fan of this incredibly popular international sport!
