The graphics are wonderful like Elderscrolls Oblivion, but must have computer requirements to the box, it is free and you can chat online with others. It offers 4 character slots, even gives contests on their web site and holiday festivals like snowmen and grenchies, it is original and fun. Beautiful and challanging, and you ressurect but will get killed, it is a challange. They have really done well, I am going to go play it now and I suggest you get the book for the maps and quests too.

Got this for my 12 year old son per his request at Amazon (best price). My 2 older sons like it so much that they bought another copy (to get another character and play at the same time). They are currently spending too much time playing Guild Wars, so it must be good. I see that my middle son is listed as the reviewer (Beatlemaniac), but this is actually Mom talking.

This game is awesome!!!! It's got great graphics and a great storyline. It has good interaction with other players and is versatile in that you can explore and level on your own or in a group. You can join a guild and play guild vs. guild action fighting other guilds in competition. Or, you can do player vs. player and compete. There are several classes to choose from and differnt abilities for each. Furthermore, it has the option of choose a primary class/profession and a secondary class/profession so that you can combine skills for 2 classes. Of course, as with any online game there's always the annoying buying and selling going on. But it's easy to ignore and play. Furthermore, when you buy the game, you guy the right to play online -- SUBSCRIPTION FREE!!!! It's a great game and I'm totally addicted. Well worth the money I spent on it. I would highly recommend it to anyone that wanted a role playing multi player game.

Well, Guild wars brings RPG to new heights. First lets say with all the choices out there this game is FREE to play. Thats right no montly fee, just buy the game, registar and away you go.
The game itself is nice looking and the sound is appropriate for the the game. The play is for the most part very intuitive and easy to play. Its all about skill sets and your the choice you make before going into battle.
This game has two elements PVP and PVE, you pretty well have to do the PVE part to unlock the skills for PVP. You can jump right into the PVP part of the game but with only the skill that come by default. SO the game is designed to lead you through various PVE elements and quests to unlock skills and equipment upgrades.
I don't think I will be giving up World of Warcraft quite yet. but Guild wars may make a deversion now and again.
A good PVE experience that ends all too rapidly for an online game, dead pvp

The developers heavily promoted the PVP competition aspects of this game, the "player skill over hours played" mantra, and all that was simply misleading.
They turned it into a WoW refugee camp literally on the eve of release (there were many open betas to play, and they were a totally different, fast action team-based game). If you want a mini WoW, with the exact same quest icons and fed ex delivery style missions, and a decent story campaign mode besides those that's good for one play through, then you won't regret the month of play there is to this game. What is misleading is the PVP... it's not pick-up and play, all the things you need for it must be "unlocked" thus there's no way you can just pick up and play with friends like a normal team vs. game. That basically killed an entire long following amount of Guilds of the game, and PVP is very much dead. PVE also has no long term value. So the main problem here, is they botched the MMO part heavily in every sense, it basically feels like a single player game you can play with other people, but that has low replayability once you've won it.
Fun Game

I will make this review short and simple. Would I recommend this game to my friends YES. It's free to play. I would recommend for ages 10 and up. This last Halloween and Christmas they updated the game in a few of the cities to reflect the Holidays. When you sign on the instant upgrade is performed so you don't have to worry about downloading and installing. Beautiful graphics, Team play, a lot of things to mention which have been in other reviews. You will not be disappointed by this game.
Caution: Contents may be highly addictive!!!

I am in love with Guild Wars. I began playing it four days ago, and it is already interfering with my life: i don't want to work...sleep...anything except play Guild Wars. My boyfriend and I both play. It gives us good quality nerd bonding time while slaying strange beast. I just bought a new computer today because my old one does not run the game well. I cant wait for Guild Wars: Factions. This game is such a good stress reliever.
Great RPG MMO - and NO fees!!!

This game definitely allows you to focus on battling and encourages that you link up with other players (uh...thus the title). You won't find yourself having to develop a trade skill before you can start adventuring like in some other MMOs. The interface is effective but simple enough so it doesn't clutter the screen. GW may not have as much variety in the character classes as other RPG MMOs but there is enough there for diversity.
I can't believe how well done this game really is considering there are no monthly fees. That was the real reason I bought this game. Now I can see why every game site that has reviewed this game give it a great rating. You can't go wrong because of the fun factor of this game.
