Awesome game

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 4 / 4

This game is awsome. The host is Louie Anderson and there are over 1,500 survey questions so you never get bored of playing. The fast Money round is also awsome because you have to beat the clock or time will be up. Oh, you can even turn the time limit for typing off during the game. This game deserves a full 5 star rating. Way To Go!

Very entertaining...

I give this game 4 1/2 stars. I feel like I am actually at the game. Since I seriously doubt I will be a contestant on Family Feud any time soon, this game is as close as you can get to the real thing.

My one real gripe is that Louis, as lovable as he is, can be a little annoying at times. The game has no way to turn him off so it slows up the game.

Other than that, I recommend this game for great family fun!

Eh.

First off, I'd like to see Richard Dawson rather than Louie Anderson. Mr. Anderson was never, in my humble opinion, meant to host this game show. Of the four hosts who have been emcee over the years, I'd place Louie at #4. Sorry Louie.

Anyway, more important is the game itself. The graphics are decent. There are several drawbacks in play, however. A game that could by all rights be completed in five minutes takes about a half hour due to all the mandatory between-round summations, as well as before and after the game is played.

Next, going through all the motions of the first three rounds is meaningless, for the fourth round, with only one strike and triple points, is the only round that truly matters. The game is regimented to four rounds, rather than "x" amount of points. In the classic Family Feud, the first two rounds were single points, the third and fourth rounds were double points, and, if necessary, the fifth round was triple points. And never had I heard of a round with only one strike. Designing this software with point goals would've made this much more enjoyable, yet instead, one need concentrate only on the unorthodox fourth round.

Another drawback I find is that if neither contestant from either family hits the survey with the toss-up, the game moves on to a completely new survey, rather than go back and forth until one family hits the survey.

Yet another drawback I've noticed is that during "fast money," although the game rightfully ends when the family hits 200 points, host Louie doesn't offer up the #1 answers.

On the plus side (yes, there's a plus side, because, despite all the aforementioned drawbacks, this game is still a lot of fun), unlike many other pc game shows, recurring surveys are far and few between. So far and few that they aren't easily recalled.

Another positive is that there is a huge amount of leeway when it comes to survey answers. Yes, you can adjust spelling accuracy, but by default the game also allows for many synonyms. This is quite unusual for pc game shows and a welcome feature.

Overall, I highly recommend this game, but I also recommend one doesn't overpay for it. No more than $20.

I love playing this game. You can even create a family choosing face, clothes and the names of the five characters. Also Louie Anderson is in the game. The questions are sometimes easy sometimes hard. You press in using the spacebar and you can pass to the other family if you don't have an answer. At the end if you win you go to the fast money round where there's five questions that Louie reads and you answer. Also you either play against the computer or another human.Lots of Fun and the graphics and sounds are great.

I played Family Feud on-line and thought this would be like it. It is not. Takes too long to play because you have to sit through all the "fake" players scratching their heads, clapping, groaning, stuff like that. I just want to play the game! I'm disappointed.

This game is interesting. You can change the way the characters look, making them young or old. Change their hairstyles and clothes. It is much like the real game. It is good to play with a large group of people. It can entertain you for hours. It also teaches. Lots of facts are on it that many of us did not know, even though its trivia it does educate. It showed many of us that we weren't as smart as we thought!!

I purchased this game last month at a local gaming store for $180. Now I am seeing it on here for only $96!! This game is a MUST-HAVE, especially at this low of a price. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND getting this now, you will not be disappointed.

My recommendation for this: "Good answer!"

Surprisingly Fun

Perhaps my expectations were low, but for $19.99 I found it to be a pretty good deal. There's a wide variety of survey questions and the customizable feature allows you to create some pretty ridiculous looking families. If you're a big fan of the show, you'll most likely be a fan of the game.

Just like on TV

This game plays just like on TV! You can even create your own family (neat huh?) or increse/decrease the difficulty of the computer opponents. The actual players think and react to your answers! The only drawback is that if both players in the faceoff do not get an answer thats in the survey, Louie will restart the faceoff with a new survey. Also, the introduction cannot be skipped (like in Wheel of Fortune). Other than that, this game is worth getting!!!

Pretty good overall, but needs a little tweaking

I have really enjoyed the game so far. Unlike some poeple, I realize and accept that a computer game version of a tv game show will never be as good as or just like the original. I have learned over the years to enjoy the computer versions for what they are and not ruin it for myself by trying to compare it too much to the original. I haven't ever experienced the problems the other reviewers have with the installation and running of these games. It does require a video card with at least 64 meg of onboard memory and works best with at least 512 megs of ram. Also I would recommend using a desktop rather than a laptop unless you have a laptop specifically designed for gaming as most laptops are not designed to run games that require high amounts of ram or video memory and you cannot update a laptop's video card or video memory to my knowledge. Now, on to the game. First off the good points. The game gives you the option of creating a family and has a tool for editing the faces, skin tone, hair color, facial hair for the men, and clothing, and accessories of each family member. The clothing options are limited and somewhat dated in my opinion. However you can unlock more accessories and even recreations of the studio sets of 5 different renditions of the Family Feud through the years by winning certain amounts of money or accomplishing various goals, such as winning all the questions or shutting our your opponent. There are also several modes you can play the game in, including single player, multiplayer, online game, and a quick version which is basically you answering the questions with out the formal structure of the original game. The graphics are actually very good for a computer game recreation of a game show in my opinion and gameplay is very smooth and it's just like being on the game show for the most part. Todd Newton(Former cohost of E! Channel's "Wild On" show and host of the "Whammy" and "Hollywood Bowl" gameshows) provides the voice over for the emcee. Not Richard Dawson, but he does a decent job I thought. Unfortunately, I do have a one or two gripes which are just minor things in my opinion and don't necessarily take away from the game experience. The main thing is that apparently the game's creators didn't incorporate many synonoyms for words or a thesaurus because for the most part on the questions your answer needs to be pretty precisely matched with the game's answers or it won't be accepted. For example I had a question, "Name something a bride has to buy for a wedding" My obvious first answer was "Wedding Gown", but because I didn't use the word "dress" rather than "gown", it wasn't accepted. Also the clothing for the characters as I mentioned before is very limited and I don't believe, though I don't know for sure, that any of the unlockables are clothing. Overall it's a pretty good re-creation of the family feud and one that families will enjoy for a while to come.
