Here is what we do know...

Tony Hawk 3 is one of the greatest games for the Xbox, and Tony Hawk 4 looks just as promising. Since Amazon really doesn't have any information about TH4 up yet, I thought I would offer some info courtesy of Gamespot.com:

The game features a totally redesigned career mode, one that takes away the standard two-minute time limit and instead applies time limits as you discover and start goals. Level goals are hidden in the new game, and some goals appear on the level only after certain previous goals have been completed. Also, the game will have multiple tiers of goals. Completing all of a level's amateur goals will unlock a pro challenge. Each skater will have a different pro challenge that is suited to fit that skater's career. The pro challenge is designed to be much more difficult than the standard goals. One of them will have a skater moving around to different parts of the level, doing a specific trick on a piece of scenery, all within a certain time limit. Once this challenge has been completed, a new set of pro goals will open up on the level.

The twist in Tony Hawk 4 is that you won't have to complete every goal with every single skater. Outside of the pro challenge, completed goals are counted so you could conceivably go through the game once with one skater, then go back and complete the pro challenges with every other skater to complete everything the game has to offer.

The San Francisco level featured the same type of goal structure as the rest of the game, though it didn't seem to be as beginner-focused as the first set of goals in the college level seemed to be. In San Francisco, you'll have to skate around and find five packages, save a man from four hungry seals, manual all the way down a pier, and of course, accomplish the standard score and spelling goals. Portions of the level's look and design are inspired by Fisherman's Wharf.

Great, challenging fun

Skateboarding is a fun sport - and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 lets anyone master the cool moves and spins from the comfort of your couch.

Let's start with the huge amount of customization available. You create your character, male or female, giving him a name, home town, age. You then can choose his hair style and color, shirt, pants, shoes, hat, logos, tattoos on ALL parts of the body.

For each item (say a shirt) there is a HUGE range of styles, colors and logos available. You can even tweak the various body parts to make them bigger or smaller! I was extremely impressed with how well you could really customize your player.

Next, there's a full skateboard park creator. You can build your fantasy park with ramps, benches, stairs and much more in it. Then you can have fun cutting loose! There are many sample parks included to play on or to draw inspiration from.

Now, on to the game. There's a Career mode that lets you move through a series of levels, accomplishing tasks on each one. You start out on the college level, zooming around, avoiding the cars on the streets or grabbing on to them for a ride. There are people hanging out around the college to talk to. One wants you to rip down signs promoting the local cop. Another wants you to search for letters. A third wants you to harass the frat boys that are causing trouble. There are a bunch of different missions, each one different, each one helping you to learn a different aspect of gameplay.

You can play single missions to, or against friends if you wish. It can be a bit tricky at first to get the hang of skateboarding, just like in real life. You tend to land sideways and go SPLAT on the pavement, little blood drops flying (you can turn off gore if you wish). But soon you get the hang of it and are doing cool tricks off the railings and walls you come across.

The levels are well laid out and very interesting, with fun scenery to interact with. The various challenges test different parts of your skills and help you learn new ones as you go. The soundtrack is great, with a wide selection of bands. You can turn on and off different songs if some don't appeal to you.

Highly recommended for sports fans!

Can this possibly be true?!

This is one of the best games for the xbox yet! I hated the other three tony hawks but this one blows the rest of them away. This game is actually realistic unlike the other three. There are new special tricks and the scoring is more efficient. The best part of this game is the flatland tricks. They are so much fun to watch and do and also they are very easy points. The new career mode is much more efficient. You go to the level that you are goona be on in career mode and when you start its like free skate where you can just skate around and find cash icons and practice and land some big tricks and all in all just have some fun. But to get goals and more money you visit special people with arrows over there heads and they give you individual goals. Each goal has its own time limit. This career mode is much more fun and also there is new 2 player games. If you are looking to buy a new game for xbox get tony hawks pro skater 4!!!

Great game and very addicting

First off, this game is very addicting, I have trouble putting the controller down sometimes. You just want to keep trying to bust out the tricks. I had never played the previous Tony Hawk games so this was the first I played and the one I learned to play on. The game will not be easy if you haven't played any Tony Hawk's before, but enough time you will learn moves and start to get pretty good at the game in a short time. Just don't give up is what you have to say, grinding, jumps and landing combos will be hard. But once you finally get the hang of it, like I said, you won't want to stop playing. Has a good multiplayer mode too, everything about this game is great.

Each Tony Hawk game keeps just getting better and better...

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 is the best in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series so far.The games just keep getting better and better! This game is very addictive and full of depth. The career mode is much different and improved from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3,with much more stuff to do.There is no more time limit. You have to talk to pedestrians throughout the level and they give you a goal to do.The goals get more and more challenging throughout the whole game. This is also by far the most challenging game in the series yet!The graphics are pretty good too(athough nothing shocking). The levels are very large and theres a great soundtrack featuring artists like the Offspring,N.W.A,The Cult,Gang Starr, and over 30 other aritsts.Theres also a custom soundtrack option too so you can use your own soundtrack. This game controls perfectly too with the Controller S.There are no exclusive Xbox features though, except for the obvious things like improved graphics and custom soundtracks.Plus, theres not even Xbox Live online play! But what is here is very fun and addictive and will keep you entertained for a long time.

The best of the series by far

All the skaters from the previous games and the money is back (from THPS 2) its not the same though. You dont buy skill points you earn them by doing stuff people tell you to do, you buy levels, characters, clothes, decks, cheats, ect. There are no time limits in levels and you have to find and talk to people to get stuff to do like combo's, high score challenges and tricks. Every pro has his or her own specific pro challenge. There are new tricks like skitchin on the back of cars, new manuals like pogo and handstand. Every level has its own and different kind of competition like normal high score, combo competion, flat land comp, ect. S K A T E is back (where you collect all the letters) and now there is C O M B O, which is like skate but you need to collect all the letters in one combo. There is luge skating/racing, speed skating, target practice, ect. Mini games are in level such as tennis and home run derby (you hit with your board), cat fight (bet on the winner), and much more. There wil be on-line support on X-box (2-8 players). The challenges start out easy but soon you get much tougher ones. All this and much more is included in Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4.

A must buy! One of the most addictive games I've ever played, I literally stayed up two nights in a row playing. The fourth game has everything the other three lacked. My biggest complaint with all the others was the lack of difficulty, which, in turn, made the games get boring fast. This game is the complete opposite, it will keep you busy for weeks even if you're an experienced player. The graphics are incredible, the levels enormous, and the soundtrack is great. In short, it is the best Tony Hawk game and could also outrank many other Xbox games. Pick up a copy today.

Good, but not the best of the series

I'm one of those rare people who get every action-trick sports games, granted some I wait on, and others I will get day of release, and well I waited on THPS4 and glad I did.

First off the game went under major reconstructive surgery for this incarnation, pretty much throwing away the 2:00 clock. I have serious problems with that, it's what made THPS, trying to do the goals within the time frame. Also out is the tape system, and again I'm seriously upset, just like I was for the arrival of THPS2.

The gameplay is THPS without a question. Its a little dulled down from the sharpness of THPS3, but gives a little more realism to the game, but if I wanted that, I'd go out and pick up the deck and go skating. Many of the challenges are excrutiatingly tedious. Actually about 90% of them are tedious, I like the races, and the traditional collect SKATE of find 5 whatevers in 2 minutes, but then the competitions don't have the skate park feel to them. The levels are big, but fairly unimaginative (Chicago from Mat Hoffman 2....I won't say more)

If you're looking for a THPS game, I would go 3 and maybe even 2x before 4, but if you're looking for new levels and don't have 4, pick it up now that it is at a platnium price, and be glad you didn't spend twice as much on it.

Tony hawk iz a kool and exiting game. It has one of the best 2 player mode i've ever seen, cause there is so many thingz u can do.But the Creer mode is very challenging, u have to be a pro just to get past the 1rst level at the college. But whaen u get 2 the next level it's worth the wait. Also u can create ur own park, buy boards , grip tape wheels ,secret skaters, and even parks.U can also can also go to parks that are alredy made and they are TIGHT!!!!

Well that's it i reccomend this game if u have 2 share ur system wit a brother. Because 2player mode is awesome. or just play by yourself.

This game kicks [butt]! Many people might not like the new carrer mode. This time you skate around in a freeskate in the carrer mode, then you go up to a person with a red arrow them. Push B and they give you a goal. Then a timer will start. There is a total of 190 goals. When you finish 90 of those goals you unlock Pro goals. These goals are much tuffer. Each skater has their own goal.
All the other things like create a skater, park editer,2 player all return too. This is the best Tony Hawk ever, so buy... it buy it now
