One of the best action games I have ever played!

This game is one word: Great
The action is, for the most part, non-stop. Many puzzles, though some easier than others. The graphics are amazing. The best on the Xbox. The framerate only slowed down once with me. This game is very long by the way. It has 16 chapters and last about 20 or so hours. This game is very hard. If you don't like tough games, steer clear of this one. I love this game. It has many things to make you want to come back to it again and again. If you like hard action games and ninjas...buy this now.

THE SAGA IS OVER.

Well it's been two weeks since i bought this game and i finally got thru it.It is a difficult game, well not that difficult.I was reading reviews left and right and expected migraines on a daily basis which wasn't the case at all.I do have issues with the camera like everybody else but few and far between.Levels that required Ryu to jump over spikes, jump over lava, and manuver over platforms gave me the most trouble with the camera. My opinion on the top five toughest boss battles goes like this 1.ALMA 2.TANKS/Helicopter 3.Vigoorian Airship Commander 4.Horse Samurai 5.Fiend Overlord. Most of these bosses are found in the first half of the game. When the second half of the game begins you are a true ninja, thanks to those bosses mention above. You will be combining Flying Swallow,Izuna drop, and Nimpo combos like tying your shoe laces. This game makes you a better gamer period. Now I'm going through withdraw symptoms.I don't know who I feel more sorry towards, the next game I'm going to get (IT'S PROBABLY GOING TO FEEL LIKE PLAYING IN SLOW MOTION)or the Playstation 2 owner's that can't get this game.

YES! this game is great! YES! The game has JUST ABOUT everything!...wait...what? just about? Whats it missing? A difficulty adjustment! I'm not great at games, but I know I'm not bad. Can't we help out the people that are not as good as the gaming gods? I'm not trying to be rude, but I like playing other games too! I don't have time to keep restarting this damn thing so I'm not constantly in bad health. Oh GOD! save that health, You'll need it later! Believe me, it's in short supply. I just got sick of beating a level, loosing all my life on the new level, dying, restarting. YES! EVENTUALLY I would have beet this game, but I got sick of it too fast. SO YES! good game! I suck! Help me out next time eh?

Fun but.....FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok....let's start by saying that this is definitely a very difficult game. That can be a good or a bad thing depending on the type of games you like and on the mood you're on.

Now, let's analyze the why it's so darn difficult....is it because of the strategies you need to beat the enemies? Not really, they all have a pattern like all bosses do. The game turns diffcult because:

a) The horrible camera. It really is annoying to be fighting and not being able to see where your enemy is, or even worse, where you are standing.

b) The disadvantages. You often manage to reach the end of a level without any health potions, just to fight a boss that has about 3 times as much life as you have, which on top of that spawn demons to help him out.

c) Too many consecutive bosses. You'll defeat a boss or mini boss and sigh with relief, only to find another boss just afterwards and when you used up all your potions and magic. You'll find yourself playing over to beat a boss again even if you beat him the first time, just to use the less amount of potions possible and leave some for the next boss (specially near the end).

The game just gets frustrating after a while....having to repeat a whole sequence over and over and over it's not really fun. It's that kind of game that you turn off because it frustrates you...and about half an hour later you turn it on again to give it another shot.

The storyline is not very interesting....you basically have to find a stolen sword...and you go through standard video game levels to get there. Characters are not very interesting either. You never have a clear idea of who you're after....then all of a sudden you find yourself in hell.

Is it a worthwhile game? Yes, it took me about 40 hours to finish it, just because of the difficulty of it. But since the storyline is kind of lacking, it is precisely the difficulty the strong point of this game. A more interesting storyline would have made this game great.

Replay value??? You get to play it on two more difficulty levels and using a new suit and a pseudo star wars lightsaber. Do I really want to play it again?? No thanks, I'm just relieved I finished it the first time.

Tecmo's rep...

I owned the original to this game, but skipped out on the next two versions. Oddly, I decided to buy the latest version. Really, ever since Ninja Gaiden 1, I've ascertained that Tecmo loves to create games that take the gamer to the very edge of the threshold of their patience. Most reviews for video games do not consider the level of difficulty for the game, but here I factor such in. Really, the game is a masterpiece visually. Until you get stuck, you'll be thinking about this game while at work or school, barely able to keep away. It's a great adventure game with a few puzzles and objects that need to be found, and this aspect of the game is kept secondary, as would be expected in a good adventure game. HOWEVER, if not at every boss, than at at least one boss, you'll HAVE to retry about a thousand times. No joke. Even if you decimate the first two bosses, the rest will make you cry. They destroy you in about 3.2 seconds, and you haven't even scratched them. I don't know if you get better or if the AI lets up, but it takes about a thousand tries. Moreover, although the control was responsive, there are a lot of auto-moves that alienate the interface. Along with that, if you feather-touch the right analog, it zooms into first-person, and you need to hit a button to get out. It was painstaking to keep off the left analog, as if it were a sore cut or wound... Really, the game has potential. The graphics and cinematics are beautiful. The original language was kept (also trademarkedly Tecmo), but the difficulty might be something to keep in mind. It's not just "hours of fun." It can also be a struggle.

NINJA GAIDAN

I've read EVERY review of amazon and I am going to mention the "CONS"

DIFFICULTY - Normal is the lowest difficulty and it's perfect for me for a month of owning the game. People who say this is hard and have been playing games for 5 or more years and took 30 goes to beat the first boss are bad at games or this genre. The only help I got from this game is reading the "be like a ninja and act like one by being fast". There are ninjas that throw incerdintiary shuricans(that explode), soldiers that have rocket launchers and more enemies that will stress casual gamers.

CAMERA - If you played DEVIL MAY CRY 1(fine camera)/STARWARS JEDI POWERBATTLES(worst camera ever when platform jumping)this will be easy to get used to. The camera rareley goes far to down on Ryo(it does it when going down stairs). It's a fast paced game so it would have been a bad idea to manually use the camera. Use the RIGHT TRIGGOR.

REPETETIVE - People need to stop this because it'll take 50 years to make a non repetetive game. I think NINJA GAIDAN took 6 years to make. It's like saying TOP SPIN is repetetive because you just play tennis and PROJECT GOTHAM is because you drive. In this you wall jump, wind jump, bird jump, throw shuricuns, power attack, use ninpo, go into first person view, look for scarabs, play original ninja gaidan, face bosses, face bosses, have two throw attacks, many attacks of different weapons you can swim and more. Now that proves NINJA GAIDAN is not repetetive.

RESPAWNING ENEMIES - They rareley respawn

Reviewers say having quick attack and interact at the same time is bad, this is bad for some because if you defeat 10 enemies you might walk through a door by accident and have to face them again but you can run away from enemies.

SAVE POINTS - There're NOTHING wrong with the save points(apart from last chapter). Do people know that you can use them more than once. Before a tank boss there is a save point that some will miss and when they die they do 20 mins of game play, you have to explore the levels and not rush.

IT'S LINIER - That doesn't matter because people would be complaining about getting lost if it wasn't linier. Would anyone care if the jurney is great. I hate it in games if there're 3 routes to choose from and your're worried that there might be a secret.....

NOT BEING ABLE TO QUIT - Push START and SELECT simultaniously for 2 secs

GOING THROUGH SAME LEVELS AGAIN - This is like HALO(Asault on the control room) and DEVIL MAY CRY. The levels connect together better than Halo and as good or better than DEVIL MAY CRY. Different things happen such as having to swim instead of going on land, different enemies, graphics and a new rought is different sometimes. Whoever designed the layout of levels are clever.

SHOPS ARE FAR AWAY FROM BOSSES - Reviewers said when facing a boss called ALMA for the first time they were low on health and it's hard to beat that b~tch. What I DO IS IF I LOOSE 6 health potions in a battle I start it again to do better then I can face bosses with a fair amount(I used to perfect my stealth skills on SPLINTER CELL).

Just like HALO/GRAND THEFT AUTO this game game doesn't get boring quickly.

Over hyped (please don't kill me)

ok you probably are all growling at me for using such a title, but hear me out! Ninja Gaiden first of all is an extremley gorgeous game, on any system. It's action is fast paced Devil May Cry style and it does have some puzzles to break up the action. But man is this game hard. It's not the kind of hard that is beatable after a couple of times trying. For example there are some moments where these 3 packs of super cheap ninjas (you all know them, the ones who throw like a billion explosive shurikens at you and kill you before you take one down) appear right when you load the game and end up killing you before you know whats happening! plus the action can get a bit hectic, i found myself usually just standing in one stop blocking and waiting for someone to get close (and the fact that the guards do this unblockable grab move all the time really is annoying!) so finally I'd like to say, good game, but to hard to be any fun

All visual, TERRIBLE camera

I really wanted to like this game. I guess I'll start with the good. The graphics are slick, the moves are cool. But I got annoyed real quick with it. This game suffers from the same problem that the Silent Hill series do, and thats absolutely terrible camera control! So many times I was in a fight and I had to struggle to get the camera in the right spot. It has a very sloppy switch from third person to first. If you want to see slick camera transitions, try Splinter Cell and SC: Pandora Tomorrow. The camera is nothing to overcome in those games. In Ninja Gaiden, the camera ruined it for me. It makes no sense why developers make a camera scheme so annoying. Its has nothing to do with learning how to play the game, its called spend a lot of time on visuals, but neglect the core. If they had the cameras work the same way Splinter Cell's do, this would have been a better game. Halo is another example of fine camera control. I would definitely rent this game first, and see if the camera is OK for you to deal with before buying. I'm glad I borrowed it for a few days, instead of just buying it like I almost did. Skip this game and buy Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow, its a much better game. Ninja Gaiden is a let down.

If you played "Onimusha" before, then you've played this game. If you played "Devil May Cry" before, then you've played this game. If you played "Shinobi" before, then you've played this game. Add to this some absolutely horrible camera angles and this game equals: IT SUCKS! This is one of the biggest disappointments in a video game I've experienced in a while. Did they think because "Devil May Cry" is a PS2 exclusive and this is a Xbox exclusive that no one would recognize it's the same game? Wrong. You might think those are pretty good games to emulate, but those games had some decent (if not good) camera angles. Good luck trying to see where the attack is coming from during some crucial boss fights in this game. There's a good doge move your character can perform where he effortlessly rolls in any direction. This would be a great defense except that the camera seldom stays centered on you. You'll find yourself trapped in one corner or edge of your T.V. only to find your being hit from something off screen. How are you expected to dodge a move you cant see coming, ninja intuition? This game does look great but if that's all your interested in rent the "Final Fantasy" movie.

I guess Japanese honor is dead. A few hundred years ago the creators of this game would have thrown themselves on their swords for a debacle of this magnitude.

Far too frustrating, save your money

Now that I have actually PLAYED the game, I have to say all the reviews leading up to it were misled by pretty graphics and cool moves.

The game is frustrating enough that after spending 3 hours on the first boss, I shattered my controller in rage. I've never done such, but this in NOT what I look for in a game. I bought a game for FUN, not controller-breaking rage.

I will be writing whatever developers I can, and I will keep writing reviews reflecting my serious disappointment in this game. Even if I stick with the game, the first boss may take me 4 hours, but the second boss will take maybe 10. And I am no pushover gamer either. If you LOVE something challenging, spend you money learning Differential Equations, it is far less frustrating. for those who play games because games are fun as they should be, save your money. Seriously. Or look for my copy up for sale if you really wish to buy.
