THIS IS THE WORST RACING GAME EVER!!!!

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 3 / 10

Author: Amazon User

ok fist off, i am a hardcore gamer who owns ps2 and xbox and spends my free time in the basement playing them. i had a 50 $ and wanted a cool racing game, this seemed like it fir i had hed it was good.
I was dead wrong. Sure it's fun, for the first hour, but then the physics start to get to you. Like the fact i am going 180 mile an hour down an interstate highway witha muffler you could here in China, AND THE TRAFFIC DOSEN'T EVEN SWIRVE!!! Tell me, you you say that would you Get the hell out of the way, or ast like it's normal? Please folks.
And then theres the Nos. i have no idea why they put it in the game, since it seems to work for the compitition, but not for you. The only thing it sucefully does is make your screen blurry.
O Yeah, and the soundthracks awesome, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE THERE ARE 4 SONGS. They get repditive after 30min.
And then, you have to unlock everthing. ok, i can see unlocking new tracks, better parts and that, But When you have to unlock the ability to PIANT YOU CAR!!!! until then your stuck with a base color, and white Vinals.
it also seems the compitition has the best ca in the word with all f the upgrades. (Suprisingly lacking from what is sounds like, there are maybe 30 or 40 preformance parts too unlock, and about that in body kits and things like that, But there are 100's of those dam whit vinals)
If you own an Xbox, And Need a race game, buy Project Gotham Racing 2. If you jus need a game, Pre Order Halo 2.
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME

The graphics are decent but gameplay could use some more fine tuning. The driving is detached and the controls too sensitive. The cops don't do much other than slow down gameplay. Like another reviewer mentioned, it always feels like the same road. Project Gotham 2 gives you a more realistic driving experience and much better vehicle dynamics.

ok heres the deal

When i first started this game i was like...wow but quickly those wows turned to frustration because while i was able to complete drift and drag races (cool little side races that add to the dynamics of the game) easily, when i got to certain sprint or knock-out races i am sorry to say had to turn it down to easy and it still took me a while to beat. The levels around 20 are the hardest because most parts are unlockable so you dont have level 2 NOS or a good engine kit until later. THESE LEVELS GET EXTREMELY FRUSTURATING. but if you are a car lover, you will love this game. with so many choices of decals muffler tips and hoods you will be completely wowed. From the customization aspect this game has taken on a whole new level. but, what about cops?! where are the cops?! i loved ned for speed for the feeling of making a cop car crash or simply blowing it away but there are no cops in this game. ONly other racers and the most god-awfully stupid regular people i have ever seen! When you are doing 150 down a road they pull out right in front of you and caouse you to flip at some physically impossible angle. (this usuallly occurs on the last lap when u have a .2 second lead) so overall, the game is very nice lookig ythe cars are simply awesome. but it is way too frusturating and you will find yourself screaming at the t.v. after a pink ford focus passes your fully pimped out mitsubishi lancer on the last friggin lap. and dont even try NOS it only helps on drag races on regular races if you hit your oppenenet hit it twice. So while the other races are awesome you will be dissapointed by the poor programming and frustration of regular races. Rent this game first!

Average to ok game.

Yes I would have to say this is a good game.I would even have to say it was one of my favs with wicked graphics and an amazing feeling of speed. But once you have all the cars, all the modifications, all the records and all the magazines the game is can get some what boring. The drag racing section is great but the multiplayer part is average.I finished the game in a week.
I think its the game that needs modifications.

SUCKIE! SUCKIE!SUCKIE!

THIS WAS ONE OF MY FIRST GAME, IT SUCKS, THE CARS HANDLE BAD, NOS JUST SUCKS. IF YOU WANT A GOOD CAR GAME MIDNIGHT CLUB 3, THATS GOOD, BUT BACK TO THE SUCKIE GAME, OH YEAH DID I SAY THAT IT SUCKS, BECAUSE IT SUCKS, FIRST IT'S FUN, THE GOES DOWNHILL. STAY AWAY FROM IT. OH YEAH DID I SAY IT SUCKS?

Great game, yet lacking basic aspects.

Pros:
-like any other NFS, graphics are top of the line
-three different basic modes: road race, drag, drift. Each with unique type of game play
-ultimate customization of every detail on the car
-sound effects are simular to "The Fast & Furious", makes you feel like you're driving in the movie
-deadly AI opponent
-good blend between reality and arcade style driving

Cons:
-major lack of cars. Famous imports such as NSX, Lancer EVO, 3000GT, 300ZX, MR2, AE86 etc are sadly left out of the game.
-missing one of the most important aspect of a racing game - Replay mode
-lack map varity, only night time city streets are avaliable through out the game

Total Rating: 8/10

This game could have been easily a 10/10 if the problems in the Cons list are added.

A racing Masterpiece of Beauty.

Enter the world of urban street racing and high performance tuner cars with the latest title in the hit Need for Speed series: Need for Speed Underground. Take on today's most popular tuner cars from ...Mitsubishi Motors, Subaru, Toyota and many more, building the ultimate street machine by earning cash to pay for custom body kits and a host of licensed car performance mods. But just creating a custom street racing machine will not get you to the top; it takes a certain amount of attitude and razor sharp driving skills to compete in the tough world of urban racing.
General/Summary:
One of the best racing sims i've played in a long long while. You can do some much to your car it's almost surreal. The racing is fast, intense, and highly addictive. The game even features THX sound so crank it up!!

Gameplay:
The game is fast paced to say the least. They are multiple race modes which keeps the action fresh for well over 20 hours. They have Circuit (your standars "X" # of laps) Drift (Rack as many points possible by power-sliding on closed track against ghost competitors) Lap Knockout (last place racer eliminated at the end of each lap until only 1 remains) Sprint (1 lap against the clock/may also be against other racers) and Drag (no i'm not talking about what your dad does when he's "working late") Customizing your car is almost a game within a game. Once you unlock all the graphics/Manufacturer Decals you have a near infinite # of variations with which you can visually modify your ride. You can lay up to 4 layers of vinyl graphic (each a diff color) to make some rather wild paint schemes. They have rims from all the major Import Tuning companies like Enkei, Konig, and BBS to name a few from 15" all the way up to 20". The camera angles are great whether your haulin ass on the track (jump cams are wicked)or tunin your rice rocket in the garage. You can view the changes you make to your car as you make them from nearly every angle 360 degrees with your analog stick. The multiplayer is great since you can import your previously tuned car in the "Non-Underground" mode to challenge your buddies. The addition of LIVE support would've been great and i honestly expected to see it; don't know what happened there (I've heard rumors that the PS2 version is online compatible but afterall it IS only a PS2....who cares!!)I would've liked to see more attention to detail in the physics of the cars. They only break the cars down into 3 categories....Acceleration, Top Speed, and Handling; consequently they all handle the same (give-or-take)

Graphics:
Nothing short of breathtaking; there are literally parts where I stared at the screen with my mouth gaping. The cars are stunning and when you add the body kits and vinyl graphics it's nothing short of amazing. The lighting effects are great on and off the track but i think the greatest example of the graphic engine is when your actually racing. Whether your doin' 93 MPH in a stock Neon or 155 MPH in a highly tuned Acura RSX-S you get an insane sense of speed. (Sorry for the cliche!!)

Sound:
Everything sounds exactly as it should from the tires to the NOS. The soundtrack is fantastic but i would've liked to be able to rip my own trax (why they left that function out is beyond me.....i mean this IS a racing sim ppl) Nothing to write home about but at least you won't be hunting for the mute button on the remote between races.

Wonder why there's no Xbox live for this title

Need for speed Underground has no Xbox live, but it's available for PS2 online. The reason to this is because of a marketing fight between Microsoft and EA games. EA games wanted Microsoft to advertise their games to be the number 1 online games for xbox live. Microsoft refused and EA games was too stuck up just to allow this to have Xbox Live. I mean, if it is really the best game out there, than there's no reason to advertise heavilly. Halo is the number one reason to get Xbox, but it's not advertised heavily, but many people love it, and it advertises itself word by mouth.

EA games are trying to overhype the game so you'll buy it, and later you noticed it's not much of a game. I believe EA games blows more of their company money on advertising than making a wonderful game. And also, they have like so many expansion packs out for the Sims because they are too lazy to make a new Sims and just look for cheap ways to squeeze the most money out of the people. Need for Speed Underground is probably the last game EA games that's coming out for Xbox unless if EA games compromises with Microsoft.

Drifts and blurs.
