Uru: Ages Beyond Myst had originally contained online content, in the form of Uru Live.
While Uru Live closed its doors back in February of 2004, that aspect of this game has been given new life in the form of Until Uru.
Now, the purchase of this version of Uru once again gives you the opportunity to go online, via Until Uru, a seperate grassroots project that grew out of the original Uru Live community, with the blessing and support of Cyan.
Uru is a world within worlds of lush environments, challenging puzzles, and unparalleled human interaction.
Anyone who likes the Myst games, wants to try something new, or just feels like hanging out with like-minded people, should buy this game and immediately seek out the means to play it as it was originally intended to be played.
Uru Live didn't have enough support.
Acting NOW, together we have a chance to write our OWN story.
Makes a lovely but expensive coaster

I have a six month old Dell computer that was top of the line when it came out. As many have already stated, this game runs like garbage, no offense intended to garbage. I haven't seen dreck like this since The 11th Hour, another game that tried too hard to be cutting edge and wound up unable to run on most top of the line systems. Like others have posted, I meet the top end of the requirements for the video card. I have also downloaded the patch. No results.
This is especially annoying because once you break the seal on a computer game, you can't return it. I meet all the requirements listed on the box, yet can't run the video portion of this game. I come here and see MANY of us are in the same boat. This is pretty much fraud on the part of Ubisoft, since they must have known that their "recommended requirements" were a load of hooey. They deliberately bent the truth just so people would waste their money on this lame excuse for a game. As for upgrading, why should I be forced to upgrade my computer to play one game, and a game that lies on the box and says it will run with system requirements that aren't remotely accurate, at that? Exactly how much money am I expected to shell out to play one 20 hour (max) puzzle game?
My advice to people considering this purchase: SAVE YOUR MONEY. There are plenty of good computer games out there that will actually run on your computer. Go find one the many good adventure games that will actually run with the system requirements stated on the box.
Oh, and good luck to the creators of this swill, with your aspirations for taking this game online. I'm sure your future customers can look forward to the same technical proficiency and honesty in advertising that you've shown here. I am officially done with the Myst franchise. If only I'd bothered to read the reviews on Amazon first, I could have gotten another game, and saved myself from purchasing the world's most expensive coaster.

I bought the game, loaded it and started it. After clicking the play button, it froze. I downloaded all of the updated drivers for my ATI Radeon card and have the latest version of Direct X on my computer, but it still doesn't work. I am disappointed that Ubi Soft shows that my hardware is supported in the list, but that the game still does not run. The demo version ran great on my machine, and this is what disppoints me the most. If it had not, I would never have purchased the game. Hopefully, when I purchase my next computer in 2 to 3 years, the game will work.
If you don't have broadband, don't bother

Ubi gives this little nugget of information buried deep within their website, perhaps hoping people will buy it before noticing: you have to have broadband to play the Uru live online portion. I cannot find anywhere on the Amazon listing that gives potential buyers this info.

I also have the Intel chipset in my computer. I bought this game (which I've been looking forward to for a long time) on its first day of release, and was bitterly disappointed. I could have been saved a lot of grief had I known it just would not run on my Intel graphics card; this should have been made abundantly clear on the package under system requirements. After all, the Intel graphics card seems to be pre-installed on most computers nowadays. Only recently have I compiled enough research from the Ubi support site and Amazon reviewers to realize my mistake. This is the very first game I've bought that I can't run on my computer, and believe me I've bought plenty. I couldn't return this one because it was opened, so it sits worthless and idle in my desk because I refuse to go out and buy and install a new graphics card (I suspect perhaps Ubi and certain graphics card manufacturers may be in business together). Anyway, IF YOU HAVE AN INTEL GRAPHICS CARD, don't waste your money like the rest of us have.
DO NOT BUY URU - YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PLAY IT

I have an IBM ThinkPad T30 Model 2367-AG2 with the ATI Radeom Mobility video card which is unsupported (as per UBI support website itself). So I wasted my money and UBI lied about compatibility.

For all of those members of the myst comunity, I have great news. MYST IV IS COMING OUT SOON! It now has a deffinate title and it is Myst revelations. The New mexico cleft has been tweaked once again. First it was a greenhouse like building, next it was a crack in the ground with the yesha symbol everywhere, now it is an elaborate complex of houses and other buildings built across a beautiful new mexico desert lake. Yesha is older now, and this game follows the Myst storyline and yesha is about 12 to 14 years of age judging by the preveiw. There is otherwise no other iformation besides the fact that the actors seem to be bad. Rand Miller has lost his ability to be Atrus and the Sirrus and Achenar images have been tweaked yet again. Other than that, this seems otherwise a great game. The graphics look disputable, though. But hey, this is coming out in 2006. You never know about these things.

This CD promises a few things: beautiful graphics, challenging problem and puzzle solving activities, wonderful music, a unique method of creating a toon and the ability to join your friends as well as meeting new friends in the on-line version.
The game lives up to the promises of the graphics. The challenge of puzzle solving, clue finding does live up to its usual expectations. The music is quiet and nice but I will not purchase it seperately from the game (I think it makes nice background music for small shops). Character creation is one of the best I have ever seen anywhere. At this point the CD no longer lives up to its promises. Animation of the char doesn't allow it to pick up anything & there are puzzles that require moving an object from one place to another. The result is that a person is forced to manipulate their char in such a way as to push the object around with their toes. Time consuming and not fun. The online game is quite disappointing at this stage. First, it was released before completing BETA. They were forced to restrict admission into the online game into what they termed "prologue" to those few BETA players they had already had. Then they added a few more individuals at any given time. The online game is still having severe problems with lag whenever more than a few (-20) people are gathered together in one place. I have a massively powerful computer that is able to handle any game online at this current time, whether in BETA or live, and every single time I have logged onto URU Live I have been lagged to a stand still. This is a game that I would recommend the CD for alone, but it is really quite pricey for just a CD game with the limited time play. It took me a little over 6 hours to solve the puzzles on the CD. I am pretty sure if I were under the age of 16 I could have cut that time in half.

Talk about left out in the cold. After making Myst on a mess of Macs they kick us out to shiver and press our noses up against the Windows.

I don't care what the requirments are!! This game looks almost ... as riven and my machine is a year 2000 homebuilt PC wit an Amd Anthalon 800 Mhz processor and a really good graphics card that makes my computer really slow. Uru runs great on my machine and as long as your computer has enough RAM and a great graphics card, the prossesor requirements are meaningless.
