I loved Halo one. I played it online on the computer all the time. One day my kids came in with it on X-Box. It took me forever to learn it with the controls. I was depressed. then I did ok in multiplayer mode and did not die as much playing against the kids. I even won a few. Then along came Halo 2. I hated it at first, but my kids worked on me for a few days and I slowly got the hang of it. Some difference mainly the new maps. I now love useing the rocket launcher and the battle rifle. The rocket launcher now locks onto your vehicle targets. I made my own multiplayer game too. I take on my teenage boys. 2 against 1. They drive the tanks and I use a rocket launcher. I win all the time hehe. Rules: the 2 cannot attack you unless they in vehicles, the one cannot attack either unless the 2 are in vehicles. It quite interesting. The battle rifle comes in to distract them. Sniper rifles work also. It is hard to figure out where the shot comes from sometimes. Good Hunting!
Underwhelming sequel to Halo : CE

Rather than go through the ins-and-outs of what Halo 2 is, how good the graphics are, or how things have been improved, I thought I'd simply describe why I was vastly disappointed by this sequel.
Firstly, Microsoft and Bungie really built up the Earth aspect of the game - and as many others have stated the game isn't set on earth at all. You start off there but are soon whisked away to bog-standard linear alien levels.
Secondly, a large portion of the game is played through the eyes of the Arbitor not the Master Chief. Whilst I enjoyed the Arbitor's cloaking capabilities, it was preturbing to not play as 'the main man' and other than for storyline purposes there really wasn't any point in not having the Master Chief as the person you 'are'.
Moving onto the vehicles - man what happened? The Wathog's handling had been completely reworked and not for the better - I doubt we'll be seeing 'Warthog Jump' user videos using Halo 2's engine. The tank is a washed out smaller version of the one in Halo 1, and the Banshee's controls stink.
Weapons had also been given the 'let's break it' once-over. The needler is puny as is the main SMG. Dual wielding doesn't add anything at all to the fun factor, and I played the game entirely through the first time without doing it. It's only when you play on Heroic or Legendary do you have to dual wield and that's primarily to retain double the ammo you can carry. Weapons disappear much faster than before too. So in areas where lots of bad guys spawn you find your cache of weaponry behind you dwindling as you shoot guys in front. Frustrating.
I could also go on about how little changes, subtle touches felt rushed - the needler reloading had less frames of animation than the first, and you can no longer shoot weapons on the ground and make them spin around. It's little inexplicable things like that which I didn't understand... why break the physics? Why change the weapon animation?
But overall my biggest gripe with Halo 2 was the atmosphere - it simply does not have the feeling, the heart, of the first. It feels on the rails and playing it often was a chore.
Sparkly graphics and a couple of new weapons simply does not cover the shallow, erred experience that is Halo 2.
what a disappointment !

these 5 star reviews for halo 2, i suspect, were written without actually playing thru the game. i have played and finished this game, and i must say i was shocked to realize how short it is, about 5 hours long (on easy), that's a sin in the gaming world to be that short. another sad note is the plot, the story is so obvious, it's bland. i waited 3 years for this [...]? u get to play as a convenant elite (A KILLZONE RIPOFF)this is where it gets confusing, u don't know who's friendly or who's a enemy, the level designs are also confusing and simplistic. u should rent this game first, it will only cost u a day's rental fee, because u will have finished the game that night. what is good about this game is that it remind me how good the orginal was, i played the first halo about 20 - 25 times, halo 2 i have no urge to play it a second time.
Halo 2 was a big let down... I hated it.

Halo 2 is the most overrated game of all time. Ghost Recon 2 blows it out of the water. I returned Halo 2 after a couple of nights. It offers NOTHING new for a 1st person shooter.
I have no clue why so many people like it so much. The online play was weak as well.
Get Ghost Recon 2, much better game, with alot less hype.
Complete Dissapointment!

I can't believe they took so long to make such a lame excuse for a Halo sequel! Graphics are ok during the campaign mode, but those clips in between levels are just terrible! You see aliens talking through a square mouth and their fingers look like boxes. You can't understand what they say, and oh yeah, as if we didn't have enough politics on TV recently, these guys took it too far for the story line. There are three things I really liked about the new Halo. That was the double weapons, the new character, and when you jump into an enemy vehicle and beat the hell out of the alien inside. Now, so sad there are some levels where you can't see a thing. And those who already played the game know it, and the flashlight won't do a thing unless you want to see what the wall in front of you looks like (and I did, it looks like a bunch of pixels, no lie!) The only way for you to know which way to shoot is because the target of your weapon turns red. I bought the game the day it came out, and I play it every now and then, because is too boring. I play some other games that I had for a while instead of this crappy excuse for a sequel. I would rather play my Ninja Gaiden any day over Halo 2. Those guys at Konami really know what graphics are meant to be. Just a thought, rent Halo 2 first. You'll thank all of us who took the time to give you these reviews.

First it took me more time at work to make the money to buy the game than to finish it! Up yours!
Second it ends on a cliff-hanger and you jerks say that you are not doing Halo 3! Up yours!
Third one of the true gems of the first game, the pistol has been reduced in power and we get a bunch of other crappy stuff to replace it, keep the damn sword and give me halo 1's pistol back. Up Yours three times!!
Music? Did you just copy an Enya cd into the game, terrible!!
Gameplay? Ten minutes of looking for badguys, six seconds to kill them then ten more minutes of tedium, BOOOOOOORRRRRIIIINNNG!
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED! If you have to play it a $6 rental is much better than $50 to buy and you can finish the game in the morning and still have time for a decent game like doom 3 or half-life 2 for the rest of the day.
Summation: HALO2 SUCKS AND SO DO YOU BUNGIE!!
what a waste of money

I guess if you like bad scifi and don't mind mindnumbing stupidity this game is for you. I was told that this was great game. What a disappointment. The scenes are so chaotic that you can not follow along as to who you are supposed to be fighting, obviously the idiotic little aliens, or where you are supposed to be headed in this game.
I have no problem with having to reload a weapon, but please give me a realistic amount of ammo to fight with. I also realize that you can be killed, but give me a fighting chance.
I have told the person who recommended it to me to reimburse me, because this one is a waste of the money.
Too short, does not live up to the original's greatness.

I just completed the game after somewhere between 8-10 hours of total gameplay over the course of two days. I feel cheated out of 50 dollars. I haven't yet tried the multiplayer aspect of this game (nor Xbox live) but the story mode was not worth it. I recommend this as a weekend rental... The missions are nowhere as interesting or dynamic as they were in the first game. As another review mentioned, much of the levels are "corridor-style", involving fighting in tight quarters which gets old fast. I kept playing expecting something better, but the only thing that came was the credits and the end of the game. Though I haven't played on it, I think this may be an attempt to push Live, because the story mode seems premature.
Great Game but............

Fell short due to expectations being to high. If you liked the first one, then this game is a must. The graphics are a little better, but there are also more bugs now. The story is not a good as the first one, but it still keeps you interested. I like that you also are playing through half the levels as an Elite. It keeps things interesting, and makes up for lack of plot twists. The cutscenes are much better in this game, and much more frequent. This time around you get to see the story unfold from both sides(humans and covenant). In short if you enjoyed the first game, this game continues the greatness. With some things being improved. If you aren't expecting revolutionary things, than you will be more than satisfied. This game is well worth 50 dollars.
