If you have much experience with Halo: Combat Evolved, and enjoy the vast complexities and skill needed to play it well, then don't waist your time with Halo 2. It's not the same game at all. Here are three major problems (out of many, many more):
1. NO SKILL REQUIRED. It no longer requires targeting skill to register a kill. Whereas in Halo: CE, you had to actually target the enemy with great accuracy, Halo 2 allows someone with no experience to jump into the game, be off target, and take out opponents. The playing filed has been completely leveled so that your grandmother or four year old sister can spank you up!
2. POOR WEAPON CREATION. Take the "Energy Sword" for an example. On most maps, if you have it (and there's only one per map), you win (PERIOD). This thing has a targeting reticle that will activate at extremely long distances. The reticle turns red, you press the trigger, and you leap half way across the map with an instant kill! How's that for skills?
3. MECHANICAL / STIFF GAME ACTION. All game movement, including vehicles, weapon fire and reloading, walking, running, etc., is no where near as real or fluid as the first game.
Conclusion: All in all, this game is designed for the purpose of attracting a younger audience where there is not a learning or skill curve required. Its marketing campaign was huge, and it sold millions and millions, all based of the success of its predecessor: Halo: CE. I would suggest waiting before purchasing any new Halo editions! Tricks are for kids and so is Halo 2!

Well this game is amazing. It took a few days for my copy to arrive, but I just rented the game so I could play while I was waiting. Now I am playing it and it is amazing. Graphics are great and the loading times are so short it is amazing. The only thing that pisses me off is the fact that it takes a long time to join an opti-match when you are playing online. Otherwise it is great. All those people that said it is too short either need to play with a high difficulty level, or they all said it took them two days. For them, two days is 48 hours of pure playing halo 2. If you can complete a game in 48 hours of non-stop playing, it isnt short. I haven't finished it yet because I have been playing on Live, so I don't have any coments on the ending. Final vertict, GET THE GAME AND GET IT FAST.
Thanks, Amazon

Last night I typed out a review that didn't really review the game, but reviewed my experience with Amazon.com. There were 11 reviews of the game last night and 8 of them were about Amazon not coming through with Halo 2 on time as promised. I check in this morning to see if my status has been upgraded (still says "soon to be shipped"... over 24 hours now with that label... and the delivery estimate still says Nov 8th) and figure I'll check the reviews again to see if anyone else has been having delivery issues. Now there are 34 reviews and NONE of them discuss the poor customer service of Amazon. Seems like all the reviews that made note of Amazon's failure to deliver have been removed. As a matter of fact, none of the reviews even mention Amazon (several mention that they picked the game up at a brick and mortar). Way to go Amazon. Every minute that goes by is another minute that I steel myself against using your 'service' again.

Do not get this game! It is almost as stupid as the first. All you do is walk around for like an hour and then eventually you kill a few aliens. So, do not get this game, it will bore you to tears.

Halo 2 is by far one of the best shooters of all time. It is worth alone to buy an xbox. It has all the good things great mutiplayer levels, great campanine levels. One thing I like about the multiplayer is some of the levels are really big and some of the levels are really small.I don't get why people say dule welding ruins the game becasue it does not. The only thing bad about it is that you can not throw gernades. I recommened this game to anyone who likes good shooters.

Halo 2 is the best game since Halo Combat Evolved-period. I do not think the game is for children who do not know the difference between fantasy and reality. This is a game-nothing more. If your child is unable to realize this fact do not buy the game. The code that was written for this game is superb !
Please do not purchase this game if you are unable to understand that it is just that-a game.
Halo 1.5 or Halo Reloaded, which is better?

Very good game, BUT...
Doesn't live up to the hype. (I don't particularly care about live or multiplayer, but I hear that is better.) Single player is WAY too short, and I have no interest in the 'Arbitor'. Didn't buy a box with him on the cover, did I?!!?!? I want the squads of Marines and I (as MC) to kill, destroy, maime, and wipe out the bad guys and maybe have a few twists and turns in the story line. Instead, I have a visualy superior, yet more claustrophobic "re-skin" of the first one played from THE WRONG SIDE.
I think the fake, yet somehow feasable weaponry in the first along with the personality of the Marines (not being "help me", but rather "eat lead!"), and Cortana made it work. Add the most beautiful music and open spaces and it was 100%.
This one removes that grand scope of what was Halo, and turned it into another uninspired sequel. (Halo Reloaded) The new weapons look plastic and very fake. There are no new "Flood-like" surprises; When the first one has the Flood come out for the first time it was amazing! Who? What? The whole premise was turned upside down. H2 just rehashes the same from the other side.
A good game, but NOT better than the 1st, NOT better (in my opinion) than MOH: Frontline. Again, in my opinion, BloodRayne 2 is how a sequel SHOULD be (Better than the first!). I feel tremendously let down by MS and Bungie for letting this WEAK game out of the stable.
I only hope H3 doesn't have me playing as the Flood. Expand the story, and don't play every concievable angle within the existing framework of the first story.
If you were hyped by the trailer, then get prepared to be dissapointed. Those weren't cut scenes in between amazing levels. They were filler moments between tow hallways. (Can you tell I'm bitter on this? :-) )
Wait to buy it used, as I am sure MANY will be up for sale as soon as they are finnished (about 8-10 hours!)
Still in shock they added a YEAR to only come up with this.
Much like GTA, it's just more of the same. Master Chief and the Temple of Doom...
IN REGARDS TO THE GRAPHICS

I see listings on here time and time again regarding the graphical errors that are apparent in Halo 2. However the reason for this is as such. Do you notice any load times throughout the game? Except for when you first start the game up there are no load times at all, that is due to the fact that the next sage of the game loads during the cut scenes, therefore there are going to be problems with the Xbox hardware playing the cut scenes in real time, while at the same time loading the next level. Also if they used CGI for the cut scenes it would definitely take away from the feel of the game, having what you see in the cut scenes be the same as in the game you play is a huge plus in making the game more absorbing.

halo 2 is arguably the most hyped game to date. unlike most people i dont expect everything to live up to its hype. i do expect things to live up to there hype to some degree. unfortunately halo 2 dosent live up to the hype at all. i was a huge fan of the first halo and liked that game much better than this. when you pop halo 2 into your xbox and start playing. your first reaction will definitely be wow this game is great. while it delivers rock solid action halo 2 dosent consinsitly impress me the way the first did. i was enjoying halo 2 heavily until one thing happended. i had been playing the game for 2 hours and realized i was already on the last level. the level took me a good hour to beat. but overall halo 2 is only a 3- 3.5 hour game. when i beat the original i clocked in at 10 hours and 30 minutes. making halo 2 about one third as long as its predecessor. also the weak storyline dosent help matters either. there is a lot of good things about halo 2 as well. it has solid action. it consinsitly delivers amazing special effects. it has really good graphics. but the disapointing storyline lack of originality and 3 hour length hold it back quite a bit. halo 2 is definitely an enjoyable ride while it lasts. but at 3 hours its hard to recomend this as a purchase. youd be much better off renting it. youll beat it and get tired of it in 2 days. i gaurantee it. just rent it youll be glad you did.
