Tron 2.0 is a sequel to one of the legends that disney has unleashed--tron, imagine what it would be like living inside your computer as a good guy. Pretty cool! The Tron 2.0 demo is graphically gorgeous because of it's litech powered triton engine, the dynamic lights, bump mapped surfaces, high res textures, high poly counts, fast frame rates, and light wrapped around objects powered by haw t&L boards or programmable shader boards combined with high quality music and sound with eax advanced hd with the latest direct-x 9 technology with single player and multiplayer(both fun) allows this game to be a sure winner when it debutes! Hah!
Best game ive ever played!!

Ive been playing this game for a week now, it completely and totally rules!! Even at normal dificulty, some levels are very tough to complete. Everything in this game looks so refined and polished its incredible. I particularly love the dialoge and all the techo-jargon mixed into all the game elements (for instance in one cut scene the ICP's are trying to locate you and the ICP Kernel tells his troops to broaden the search criteria...totally cool!!). This game is an absolute must-buy, whether you are a Tron fan or not!!
Fun game.

I've had absolutely no problems with this game and found it to be a beautifully rendered world with an interesting (if somewhat convoluted) story. Yes, the game has some stiff requirements, mostly in the video card area, but I'm running it off a lowly GeForce 4MX and it rocked along smoothly. I highly recommend it, especially if you were into the original movie or just enjoy computers.
If you loved the movie, then you'll love the game

Everything looks and feels like the orginal movie. Corny acting, black light special affects, and fun action. The single player alone makes the game worth picking up. Play it through on easy the first time. There are some areas that are near impossible to get through on the harder settings until you get a hang of what you need to do. Haven't played with the full version of the multiplayer, thought the demo was so so.
The best FPS game yet

I've been a gamer for 25 years. This is now my new favorite game. For the most part you're on your own, so in that respect it's got a bit of a similar feel to System Shock 2, except you interact with other characters who are "alive" unlike SysShock2, where you only found e-mail from dead people. In Tron 2.0 you find email as well, but the email is from both past and present events in the real world, meanwhile you are in the computer; so it's meant to give your character an idea of what's going on outside (you, the player, don't really need it since you're given cinematic movies of outside events).
I can actually say that this game does Tron (the movie) justice. This caught me by surprise. I was avoiding buying this game thinking that it would suck. A friend bought it for me and I became addicted with it almost immediately. The music is good, too - it's mostly peaceful and without words, very very much like the movie had. That's very appealing to me, personally.
Light Cycles
The light cycles form very much like in the movie, they look like the ones in the movie, and they've extended the game to include light cycle powerups, obstacles, and special surfaces that speed up or slow down the cycles while on that surface. The light cycle simulations are tough, and the computer players are able to do things that you cannot (like make 6 turns in half a second) so you've got to try to avoid direct confrontations and outsmart your opponents from further away.
Enemies, FPS
Okay, the FPS portion and dealing with the enemies is hard. Even easy mode is challenging. Sometimes you cannot even get through an area unless you figure out what weapon you should use, and that's just something you've got to experiement with on your own to figure out what works for you. For some people that can be very frustrating. However, personally I find this kind of challenge very enjoyable and hard to find, so I was really thrilled that I actually had to "hack my own way" in this regard.
I haven't been able to put this game down since I've gotten it, and my friends who have seen the game are addicted to just watching me play it! FPS gamer people who we've told about it have gotten it and have loved it.
The storyline is pretty good, it depicts numerous portions of real-life network administration challenges. The parallels between real-life and "inside the computer" duality is fun. Along the way there is a ton of geek humor that some of you will find very funny; others will find it cliché. I found it very enjoyable and fitting.
I haven't quite finished the game for the first time, but I can say that this is a game that I'm going to finish more than once. I haven't yet had the chance to try the multiplayer portion; I'm hoping that will be vaguely as fun as the single-player portion is.
Computer Hardware
On a 1.2 GHz Athelon with a GeForce4 video card on MEDIUM detail level there are still some areas that cause my computer to struggle. There are large expanses that get real-time rendered (which can be proven with zooming into details "a mile away" and finding that they're still being rendered). Don't try giving this to a person with an older computer.
Also, the game is designed specificaly for Nvidia or ATI video cards (and there are two more from Matrox on the compatibility list). It may work with others, but this is generally a high-end real-time rendered game and can likely tax any video card of today.
I highly recommend this game if you liked Tron and like FPS games. Be prepared for a beutiful but challenging game. I think for $20 this is an awesome game.
HAVE FUN, ALL!
Not bad, but something missing a few things...

I was a kid when Tron the movie came out and as an avid gamer, I really was excited for this game to be released. Having received it for Christmas and just finished it, let me break down the good and the bad for those of you potentially buying it.
Pros
The game incorporates some nifty and creative techniques that stray from the typical 1st person shooter norms. For example, you only have a few weapon choices, however there are a number of variations to each weapon as you advance in the game, so in all there are roughly 10-12 weapons, including the beloved Disc. (Just like in the movie.)
The gameplay was very true to the movie in a lot of ways. Sounds and soundtrack were spot on and the look and feel was definitely that compu-neon, blacklight glow that made the movie so cool. Well, cool at the time. :) All in all the designers stuck to the movie's rules. Kudos boys.
The lightcycles were fun as well and are incorporated as part of the game, switching from 1st person to (I guess) 3rd. The designers even created a separate lightcycle tournament that could practically be sold as its own game.
Lastly, the game lasted quite a while. Having received Call of Duty, the extremely popular WWII 1st person shooter, at the same time as this, I was surprised to find that CoD took just 10 hours or so to finish, while Tron 2.0 took probably 30-40. (Lost count along the way.) Of note, CoD is a wonderful game, short as it may be.
With all that being said, here's what I didn't like...
Cons
The action took quite some time to really get going and when it did, I just didn't feel like it was completely captivating. I don't know, maybe it was just me, but there was a repetitiveness to the battles that kinda wore me out after awhile.
The learning curve is a little steep. Not that it's tough to learn, it just takes a while to understand what every little "thing" in the game is. For example, you come across these little cubes in the game that have e-mails, upgrades and other goodies inside them and when I first started the game, I was sort of at a loss as to how to make sense of it all. In the end, it got easier to understand, but the tutorial could have explained it better.
The weapon variations, while nice, didn't always seem useful. I nearly always stuck to the disc, which isn't even considered the best weapon in the game. However it was the most "trusty", if you will, and therefore the go-to weapon in the game.
Bottom line
I'd give this 3 and 3/4 stars if I could. I feel that 4 is just a little more than it deserves. Anyone who likes 1st person action and the movie itself will probably be just fine with this game. If you're into neither, go elsewhere. If you like one or the other, heck, the price is down enough to give it a shot. If nothing else, enjoy a little nostalgia for those early 80's disney flicks. Now if only the'd remake The Black Hole...
Great upgrade on the original story

Tron was a ground breaking movie of the early 80's. Partly computer animated and partly live action, Tron broke new ground in cinematic visuals. While Tron 2.0 is not revolutionary, it is still a great upgrade to the original idea.
Tron 2.0 looks great. The environements are reminiscent of the universe from the movie but have been updated to appear appropriately high tech. From reviews I was expecing the different environs to be more corrolary to the real world devices (i.e. hubs, PC, PDA). It seemed as though the PDA was the only environ that really had any sense of real-world scale to it. This is not a complaint against the game. Each new level and environment looked very good and played very well.
Gameplay overall was very nice. It's not a traditional FPS due to throwing a boomerang style disk at enemies, but that is the general feel. What I really liked about the gameplay was the ability to upgrade your weapons and powerups. I found this most helpful as I got into the higher levels. Even though the enemies became more skilled and quicker, due to my chosen upgrades, I could compete and move on without long sections of unbeatable enemies that grind some other games to a stop.
In addition to the single player story, there is a Light Cycle competition circuit that is great fun. The single player game was fun, but the light cycle circuit has actually been a better play. I could see the light cycles being spun off into a separate game or enhanced through expansion packs.
Overall, this is a great game. I'm ready for Tron ^3
Great game but too short

I loved this game! The graphics were awesome and I especially liked the RPG elements. This game would probably not be good for you if you do not like to have to think a bit while playing, and it is finished too quickly, but otherwise it is great. My only reccomendation is to download the demo first, just to make sure it will work with your graphics card. Highly recommended!
Good choice

This is definitely a buy for fans of TRON; however, even non-fans can find it interesting(it could even interest you in the original movie).
The story is unique enough to keep your attention, but is not that radical - at least considering the fact that you are inside a computer.
The controls are flexible enough that most anyone can enjoy the game without reaching for awkward buttons.
The only complaints I have are an occasional lag in the jump command that leads to my character dying (though this might only be my machine) and the fixed nature of the game. By this I mean that once you've beaten it, you're done. The puzzles consist of defending places or people, jumping, or how to take down an enemy without getting killed in the process. No code-breaking etc. Really, you are in a computer; now the nature of the "world" may prevent this sort of puzzle, but are we to think that a password is represented by a digital soldier who attacks you?
In summary, the game is pretty good, but has some room for improvement.
If your a FPS fan, don't miss it.

I play every shooter I can get my hands on and this one I've played 3 times and enjoyed it every time. Most shooters are quickly forgotten, but this one will stick in your mind. You know your playing a great game when your awake in the middle of the night thinking of the game. The levels are just incredible. The graphics, audio, and story line are all first rate and there is a great deal of artistry that went into the making this game. It can be a bit difficult at times, but no more so than other shooters out there. It's and older game so there should be no performance issues running it on newer hardware. Like a previous reviewer remarked, it does have issues with SB Live cards and I actually reinstalled an older SB16 to run the game properly the first time I played it. I've played the game again recently and it runs fine on the SB Audigy. It's a shame that there is not going to be a sequel to this really fine game. I guess the folks at Buena Vista figure they didn't haul in enough millions.
