Your mission is to find some missing agents in an enemy controlled building. You are alone. Only your stealth and your pistol protect you. No automatic weapons. This is not Unreal. One move could make you just another blood stain on the floor. What do you do?
This game is INTENSE! From training to the actual field work, you will be on the edge of your seat. Sneaking through buildings, shooting out cameras, putting guns to peoples heads and making them talk. This is unlike any game I have ever played. It runs on the Unreal 2 engine, which is very pretty. Lighting, shadows... incredible.
This game is not for someone who likes to run around shooting people. You just can't do that. This game is about patience, and tactics. You'll get wrapped up in it after playing for only like 10 minutes. A Great addition to the Tom Clancey line of games.
The PC Demo is out and...

this games is ultra-hot!! Being a fan of stealth-based games such as Metal Gear Solid, I knew I would enjoy this game, but WOW! The graphics are great, especially the lighting effects and physics of curtains and other objects when you bump into them. The demo is a single level, but I have played it numerous times just to see if it can be done a little stealthier. This should add greatly to the replayabilty of the full version, as most players will be thinking "hmm, if I only did this, I may have gotten through this better," and will go back and try a mission again. If the demo is any indication of the quality of the game, we may have a real winner here.
This is NOT!!!! an action game..

Splinter Cell should be listed under adventure because thats the type of genre it most resembles. The only thing you do is follow directions and try to solve the puzzles on each level. You do something right, you advance, do something wrong, you dont. This is definitely not a shooter. I felt like I was playing Kings Quest or something. This is the second time I've been burned by a Tom Clancy game, there will not be a third.
not so good after all

i originall said that this game was an excellent game, but after playing the xbox version and the playstation 2 demo, i now know that this computer version is the gayest thing that can ever happen to the personal computer. i have to say that the only good thing about this game is that it is challenging, but in between the game jumping around with you graphics settings and the fact that the controls are kind of messed up, this is in actual fact a terrible game for the computer, because of the fact that it probably wont run as well as you want it to.
Incredible game !!!

All I can say is this is an awesome game !!! cool graphics .... realistic sound.... sam fisher has a whole a lot of gadgets... makes you feel as if you are watching a movie. The most important thing i liked in this game is the game scripting and screenplay. You should know when and what should be the next move. you should look for secret openings, ladder and other stuff. There will no pointers in the game (as in call of duty, medal of hornor) which will guide you to next location.... its all left to the player to discover these things.
I would stongly recommend this game

I read many great reviews from gaming magazine and web sites and I was convinced that this would be a great to play.
I bought the X-BOX version of this game and man, I was not very happy with the graphics! It looks awful! The game was hard and it gets boring after several hours.
It's not all that bad, I enjoy the stealth training sessions and the short movie in the beginning.
OK game but not great!
WOW! Amazing Game! But be sure to save a lot!

Woof! My net friends and many people told me that Splinter Cell is great, but the truth is yes!
It's worth buying it. The game was in great style. The texture, object and the background is so cool and realistic. The fire and the smoke looks like the real one! WOW! Super! Also, Sam Fisher have so many skills to use, that you've to spin your brain and solve the mystery and make a way to go. lol.
However, the cons are the saving system is bad, it's no delete on old save.Futhermore, you have to save so often. If you expose yourself in front of enemy or can't make a one-shot kill, you'be fired. 4 shot and you'll be dead. So make sure you save a lot. This may probably slow down the time for playing this game. What a pity. But it's so real. You would be killed if you wear a bulletproof shirt and shot by 4 bullet.
Overall. The game's nice. There's just some small flaw and the game will be perfect. I recommend you to buy this game and play it. It's so cool and so freshy that you've to use your IQ and EQ. I really want to give it 4.5 stars. But the game should get the 5 stars. The game's great.
Hands down the best game in it's class!

This game is by far the best game ever in this genre! It has absolutely amazing graphics, gameplay is stellar. The only thing that I do not like is som of the controls. In order to move faster (walking vs running) you have to use your scroll feature on the mouse. This gets rather bothersome if you get into a tight situation where you need to run away or whatever. If you are used to using the controls that are basic with most other games such as Counter-Strike, it might be hard for you. Other that that, this is such a great game.

Splinter Cell is an extraordinary gaming experience combining stealth, smarts, and action. Take on the role of Sam Fisher, a serious yet good natured lone-commando-meets-ninja as you strive to uncover and sabotage a plot to start a war. I won't go into details about the missions because I'd hate to spoil it for you, but they are all clever, innovative, and fun. And, dare I say it? Sam is sort of a hottie!
Pros:
Fabulous lighting. (Can be challenge to some systems.)
Different approaches available to reach a goal.
Easy controls.
Challenging in a way that makes you say "a-ha!" when you figure out how to accomplish something, even for the hackneyed gamer.
Cons:
Some bad guys take an unrealistic number of shots to kill.
Sometimes rotating Sam, a third person character, was a little awkward, but not enough to be more than only slightly noticeable.
A goofy bug on the stairs makes Sam look like he is walking on air.
I highly recommend this game and hope for a sequel. Maybe we'll see more of Sam in different, skimpier outfits to match his environment? Hey, it worked for Lara Croft!

Sam is a new person that is born off Jack Ryan (His spy sense) and John Clark (His killer instincts). If u liked Clancy movies, u r sure to like this game. It is an awesome thriller, based on real characters that DONT EXIST. The best stealth game I have seen and the best anti terrorist game since counter strike.
