LOVED IT!

I have read the reviews after I played the game. On a few negative points I agree, but overall this game was excellent. I know a lot of reviewers had negative opinions on the plot. As in the reviews, I didn't get why her boss was so interested in finding her and bringing her back, but I did understand why she was following an old man to end of his dream, even if Kate doesn't know herself. My five year daughter even got caught up with finding the mammoths and Syberia. That should tell you something about this incredible journey. I must say finally a game with excellent graphics and a story that you can't get enough of. There sure isn't a lot of games out there you say say that about.

Marvellous End to A Stupendous Game

This continues the story of Hans Voralberg and concludes it satisfactorily.

The graphics are as luscious as in Syberia. The gameplay is as smooth and bug-free. The animation exceeds that in its forebear (who knew that was possible). Cut-scenes: without par. Story: as engaging as ever.

Much is made about the puzzles. The alleged 'easiness' does not bother me. I play these games to relax after doing way too much thinking at my office every day. :-)

I would like you to consider what the complaints about the ending say about the story: that nobody wanted it to end. The ending is completely appropriate and fulfilling. Wanting to go back and 'finish' some things or 'get Kate home' is really just a clamouring for 'MORE MORE MORE'.

I highly recommend that all adventure gamers (and even those who are not) get both Syberia and Syberia 2 and play this wonderful story.

Overall an enjoyable game!

Siberia 1 was actually the first PC game I had ever played. My brother-in-law thought it would be helpful in keeping me busy during recovery after an extended hospital stay. He was right. He had to help me quite a bit of the way through the 1st one, but I had fun learning from this particular game.
I asked for Siberia 2 as a gift and was excited to play it, as well. I very much enjoyed the graphics of both and liked the fact that I was able to watch "myself" as the character, Kate Walker, rather than being in the first person, as you are in some other games.
I agree that some of the puzzles had absolutely no logic whatsoever, particularly in the 2nd one. That was quite frustrating. Most of the puzzles were fairly logical and with a bit of thought I was able to work through them. There were many times that you had no choice but to back-track in order to accomplish what you had to do, and I found that quite tiresome, as well.
Having said those few negatives comments, however, I loved the story of both of the Siberia games and had a lot of fun playing them. They were a great introduction to the PC adventure gaming experience for me, and I'm glad that I was introduced to them.
I definitely would recommend them to others. They do take some patience, but the story and the graphics really were good, and worth the few spots where you just throw up your hands and have to peek at the "helps and hints" so you can continue the joy in the journey! :o)

If you like adventure games and you don't have this one, run right out and get it! 5 stars, two thumbs up, 10 out of 10.
Superb graphics, great story line with twists, story-relevant puzzles, engaging characters, first rate voice acting, all that and an even sexier, more mysterious Kate.
Absolute mammoo......

This game was just as much fun as the original - beautiful graphics and challenging-but-not-too-hard gameplay.

I wish they had kept going with this game (a third installment) - I found the story to be well thought out and intricate.

Technically, the game never stuttered on my XP machine - very smooth and a lot of fun!

Extraordinary beauty and a first-rate story

Syberia 2 is an experience of great power. The graphics are gorgeous and the story can bring you close to tears, one gets so involved. There are very few games that can manipulate your feelings, but this one can and does. The puzzles are apt and interesting, but since I always use a walkthrough, being a total klutz at games, the degree of difficulty does not apply to me; but I am sure the puzzles are of a design to please just about everybody. It is strongly recommended that you play Syberia before the sequel because of a long dream experience going back to Valedilene of the first game and I don't think you'll fully understand the dream's implications without prior knowledge. The ending of Syberia 2 is a cliffhanger, and the magicians who created this splendid series have to write Syberia 3 because Kate, your alter ego and heroine, is left alone on Syberia with only a funny dog-like intergeneric creature called a Youki to keep her company. You can't leave her there, Mr. Sokal, that would be horrible!

A beautiful, but not very fun, conclusion to the story

While the original Syberia suffers from some of the same complaints (too much walking and talking compared with puzzles and logic), the developers of this sequel seemed to have lost any interest in developing challenging tests and puzzles that can be "solved." Most of the challenges that the main character, Kate Walker, has to complete do no justice to the story line. They seem to have been spliced into the story willy-nilly (as if the developers realized afterwards that no one would see their admittedly beautiful animation unless they could sell it as a game).

In terms of animation and scenery, the sequel is its parent's equal. It suffers in comparison in terms of story, and it doesn't even come close as a game. Having said all that, however, I enjoyed seeing the conclusion of the truly original story introduced in the first game. I can't recommend this game as a stand-alone, but since it's still being sold at Target for under $10, I can recommend this very slow-moving game to those who, like me after playing the original, feel vested in seeing Kate Walker assist Hans Voralberg with reaching his ultimate destination.

One of the best series I ever played

I don't know where to begin. The best adventure games I've ever played are Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Myst, Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within, and Syberia. I'd give this game more than 5 stars if I could. The storytelling is superb and engaging. You'll fall in love with Kate and Oscar and be so sad when the game is over. Getting to the puzzles, this game is really easy compared to others. That was good for me, because I like to focus on the story. There are so many games that cloned themselves after this but fell short. Just play this one. It started it all. NOTE: Syberia I and II are one long continuous story. The developer wanted one game, but the publisher made them break it in half for time/money reasons. You have to play both games together to get the whole story. Playing just one is like watching just one of the Matrix movies. I give the Syberia series 100 stars out of 5. It is fun for all ages. A family could get together and play this.

This game is so beautiful. I played Syberia and Syberia 2 is a great sequel I just wish we found out what happened to Kate and Hans. The only thing is most of it was in winter, I wish it took place in spring or something.

Syberia II even better!

Way to go Benoit! I was looking forward to this after playing the first one and I wasn't disappointed! Again, awesome graphics and music. I sure hope this has a part III!
