If you were wondering my name, you can never figure out!!! If you were wondering how to find my reviews, at the bottom I always mark it with: "I had to see the city myself" Tidus, Final Fantasy X.
This game rocks and is worthy for a spot on my top 100 favorite games (I'm only ten and I've played alot more than that). Now, RPG's have had a good place and history in Video Games. There is much excitement when Square Enix releases a Final Fantasy game, so what about the Tales series? It hasn't had as good of a record and Final Fantasy, but that doesn't stop Namco from making the best Tales game on this planet!!! This may even be the revolutionary step in Namco's history! So if you are looking for anything better, stop looking now!!! Try this game out today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wahahaha! Sorry, over excitement. *Peace Out*

This game was simply superb!! No turn-based action, yay!!! And Zelos is so verry hott. Hehe...ahem. At any rate, I loved this game. A lot. One of my favorites, after the Zelda series, of course. Serio, though, I loved it. It was such an involved game, and I really had to pay attention. I've spent over ninety hours on it so far, and it still hasn't gotten old. The only thing that scared me were the Katz...o.o'' Other than that, bravo! Great music, too. But what's up with the end?! What the hell does Lloyd name the Giant Kharlan Tree?! -sigh- Oh well. I still loved it, and the baddies were pretty cool, too.
Very Good

I am actually over 13, you know, I'm just using the Kid's review form so that I don't have to sign in, etc. Why do they do that? To hassle people? DO THEY ENJOY TORTURING INNOCENT REVIEWERS? I--Oh, sorry, I'm getting off track...
[AHEM]
Tales of Symphonia. I anticipated the title for months, right from the day I heard about it. When I heard that it had come out, I rushed out to rent it. However, on reaching the video store and picking up the game in trembling hands, I had a shocking revelation. The game was rated "T". I flipped it over in woeful disbelief. It wasn't even rated "T" for anything wimpy, like "Comic Mischief" or "Mild Violence"; no, sir. It was rated T for (and I quote): "Fantasy Violence, Language, Suggestive Themes". WHAT?! The fantasy violence I can handle. Even the suggestive themes, though it would be nicer without them, I could live with. But SWEARING? Please! Not only is it vulgar, unnecessary, and untrue to the characters, it was ridiculous! In another dimension, how could their language have possibly evolved so that their swearing was the same as ours? In Germany, about the worst thing you can be called is a "pig-dog". And THAT's only a few hundred miles away. In another dimension, who knows if they're even speaking the same language? How could their ideology have developed so that they had a Hades, an underworld? And why would they use our term? Why should they use it as a curse? It is completely incongruous to the world and makes the characters ound like all those who swear: nitwits and imbeciles whose puny brains can't process words over two syllables long. Don't get me wrong, I hate that sugary-sweet saccharine rubbish, but I just can't understand why they decided to add that in. It didn't serve any purpose AND cut down their audience.
There were some other mind-bogglingly strange choices made throughout my short, sweet experience with Tales of Symphonia that forced me to wonder: "What were they thinking?".
For example, they chose to use Chibi-fied versions of the characters' original designs for the field sprites. All of the game that I played (aside from the breath-stealing, mind-bending, absolutely INSANELY AWE-INSPIRING initial cutscene!!!!!) used these chibis. Why Namco would use these when their game, at least partly, sold on the basis of the cutscenes' screenshots is entirely unfathomable. Of course, I played at a friend's sleepover, so I didn't get very far (I got past Marble and was captured in that pseudo-Arabesque town). Maybe we get to see the original designs after that. But up to that point, which took several hours, all I saw were those cute little characters. I almost throttled something. Not that cel-shading's a bad thing, I just like to look at things and those characters were not as appealing--as pleasant to the eye--as the original designs. They weren't as ugly as the wind Waker people (what is?), and simplifying/caricaturing is lovely sometimes. But (and this is the big "BUT") YOUR DESIGNS MUST STILL HAVE THAT APPEAL. If nobody wants to look at it, it can't possibly be artistic.
Also, the cutscenes seemed extremely sparse. Again, why dump cutscenes when your success in selling it was at least halfway based on gamers looking forward to them? I mean, they might have planned it like that; they might have only finished that much animation by the release date, but it seems to me as though they had had a lot more in the game at one point and just cut them. Then, they re-added little bits of them in the opening montage to ease some guilty consciences and left it at that.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this game enormously when I played it(after all, I started at about 9:00 PM and kept trucking 'til 5:30 AM!). I just don't get why, when they had such a good thing going, they decided to make these decisions. Was it just too expensive? Were all the animators suddenly booked? Did they want it to look kid-friendly, but really ruin them? If anyone knows, please, explain it SOMEWHERE!
This game, aside from a lack of cutscenes and the swearing (to make the fools in this world happy), was practically perfect.
The battle system, as I read in another review and actually didn't realize until now (DUH!), is reminiscent of the Super Smash Brothers Melee system, incorporating a 2D plane and 3D graphics. I found it far more engaging than either your straight-out hack-'n'-slash or your dull-yet-strategic turn-based battle. it was an intriguing combination of both. The action and excitement of hack-'n'-slash and the strategy and teamwork of turn-based. The best of both worlds! I'm thrilled.
The story, though I didn't get very far, was slightly cliched at first, then went into a slight rut, then picked up--A LOT. I've been foaming at the mouth wanting more!
I seem to recall that the music, though it's been a while, was nice and catchy, though it might have gotten slightly repetetive. The sound, if I remember right, was pretty good, too. And the voices, I'm sure I recollect, were far above par for videogame acting and fit the characters extremely well.
I'm not sure about replayability and stuff like that, but I do know that I'd love to play again (though minus swearing).
In other words: Great game! Play it, but (1) click A fast so you don't have to hear the idiotic cursing and (2) drool and rewatch the cutscenes as they're (in my experience) few and far between.
Enjoy! Signed, Galar-Maker

This game is great! I was beginning to think that other than Zelda Nintendo had forgotten how to put out a good RPG game. The graphis are beautiful and there is lots of humor throughout the game. It gets even more fun once you beat the game and start over playing again to get aspects you missed the first time. The only thing I don't like is that there isn't enough anime cut scenes. For those of you who have played games like Lunar and Lunar 2 you know exactly what I am talking about. Still this game is definatly worth owning.

THIS GAME IS GREAT ONE OF THE BEST RPG'S SINCE FINALFANTASY 7. THE GAME IS ABOUT ACHOSEN WHICH IS TO TAKE A GREAT JOURNEY LIKE A PILGERMAGE SAYING PRAYERS AT TEMPLES TO SAVE HER WORLD. EVEN THOUGH YOU PLAY ONE OF HER FREINDS. AFTER SHE PRAYED AT THESE TEMPLES YOU FIGURE OUT THAT ONE OF YOURE FREINDS IS THE BAD GUY. EVEN THOUGH YOU LEVELED HIM UP TO LEVEL 30-40,WAIT I FORGOT TO TELL THERES TWO DISC AND THAT WAS ABOUT THE MIDDLE OF THE FIRST DISC WHICH I AM STILL ON. THE GAME HAS A GOOD BATTLE SYSTEM SIMILAR TO KINGDOM HEARTS [ANOTHER GOOD GAME]. YOU CAN ALSO GET MONEY VERY EASY. YOU CAN GET NEW WEAPONS ALMOST EACH TOWN. LATER ON THE FIRST DISC YOU CAN FLY A LITTLE SPACE CRAFT.OVERALL THIS GAME IS GREAT!!!!!!
the best game eva!

Tales of Symphonia may seem like the typical 'save the world' type game and it is. But dont let that discourage you from renting it. TOS is really quite a turn around compared to the other save the world games. its lovely 3-d art will surely be the thing you first notice about the game. it starts with our main man Lloyd Irving asleep in school again. when he wakes up it seems that the class had been talking about some prophecy and yeah yeah (you'll see when you get it)anyway the story goes on and the plot thickens and thickens until the point where you feel like sufficating (no not really). Like other adventure games it is really long (two discs in fact) so unless your really into it you probably wont finish it. but if you are like me youll stik with it till the very end. also it has these cute little flicks (you know like miny cartoons). that game could become a classic. (im my opinion). its so good that they should make a real movie out of it!!!
Nice to have a great RPG for the Cube

Tales of Symphonia from Namco is one of the first RPG titles for the Nintendo Gamecube, and it is one hell of a great game. The graphics, battle system, and voice acting are all teriffic features, and it's nice to have a multiplayer mode as well. Up to four players can fight in the adventure at one time, which is truly a nice touch. The graphics are cell-shaded, which may seem like a tired technique at first, but ultimately really works well for this game. Fans of Star Ocean should really enjoy this one.
