This is the best gc game i have ever played i have beaten the game 3 times and i am still not bored with it. I think that they might have over used the cuss words a little bit but when they say them it is funny. this game has a great story to it and the gameplayis addictive, the characters are awesome and are never boring especially characters later in the game. i think the game could have been a little bit longer they should have made the second disc much longer than it was because i finished the game the first time in 54 hrs but i keep playing even if i start to get bored of it about 10 minutes later i have to play it again. This game in my opinion should be bought by all gamecube owners unless they are like 6 yrs old cause some content is for some of the older crowd.
I hope this review helps some people to buy this game.

The best RPG I ever played. With a awsome battle system you can't get much better than this. If you buy this game be ready for tons of plot twists, and betrayal. If you like RPG's you have to get this. This game has tons of side quests. Sometimes I didn't even know I was doing side quests or the main plot. In the begining it seems so short but it's long. I've played for about 50 hours and beat it once. My friend has played for 130 hours and beat it twice. In short this game is a must have.

This game is really fun. The graphics are cell-shaded(cartoon), so if you like realistic graphics you won't like this game's. The battles are fun. The battles are in real-time, so you control your character directly, and you don't take turns attacking. Other players can battle alongside you if you plug in more controllers. You can also set a certain strategy and let the computer battle for you. The characters earn titles that help them in battle. The game is so long that it comes with two discs. The way you respond to people changes your relationship with them. There are also funny "skits". The voice acting is good, but they don't do it enough. There is also a bit of cussing, so it definitely deserves its "Teen" rating. I really enjoy this game.

This game is amazing too, I would expect the cost to be no less than $50, but $20? Get out! I love this game, its so complex and is very interesting. I used to hate RPG's. Final Fantasy was utter crap, and gave a bad name to the genre, but TOS is great to say the least.
STORY: 10/10
The story is very original. You are Lloyd Irving and your friend Collette, who is the chosen, recieves an oracle. This is the start of the story, it becomes very complex when you get to Triet and start releasing seals.
GAMEPLAY: 12/10
This has to be one of the best parts of TOS. For one, you can level up to as high as 100 for every party member. There is also at least 40 hours of gameplay (thats if you speed through). There is a great aray of weapons, armor, items, you can customize, there are 251 enemies, and there are over 30 bosses!
SOUND: 10/10
I'm not into the whole game-techno music (I prefer hard rock) but the music goes very well with the atmosphere, especially once you get far in the game. The sound effects and voices are almost perfect. And its good to see that each character has its own personality, that shows that Namco isn't a lazy company.
GRAPHICS: 10/10
Now I'm not into the whole japanime thing, but I must say these graphics are well executed and the frame rate is perfect. Gamecube is much more advanced then the N64 in terms of graphics, and in TOS that becomes painfully obvious. Its almost like its 2D, but its actually 3D, yes, its very hard to explain.
CHALLENGE: 9/10
Beating the game is hard without going to GameFAQs or something, because the layout of the game is very complex and sometimes even the synopsis wont be able to help you. Also getting your party members to level 100 can be very boring and frustrating, so the challenge there is not to quit and move on, but to keep strengthening them.
OVERALL: 11/10
This has to be one of my favorite games of all time, and is easily the best Gamecube game. For other good Gamecube games get Super Smash Bros. Melee, Zelda: Wind Waker, SSX Tricky/3, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Starfox, and obviously this.
It was just OK

Both of my boys gave up on this game quickly as they just didn't like the fighting style or the techniques in this game. They are both teenagers and thought the game was 'lame'. I am playing it now, and though I know I will play it until I finish it, I am not enjoying it like I do other RPGs. I hate the 'skits' that you have to watch of just a face moving as you read the words. You can't make them go by faster and they took the animation department back a decade. Don't bother if you are looking for a involved rpg like FF. We liked Lufia, Breath of Fire (early) Dragon Quest and many more.....This one fell flat.

this is a first for the game cube. I've played pretty much all the tales games (Tales of phantasia etc) this is the best. good all around control of the chrecters, awesome cut scenes, and the feel of a fighting game. And it is an awesome multi player game. Definately a game worth buying.
A gem.

I picked this up for twenty dollars on my friend's reccomendations, and all I have to say is this: Oh my oh my oh my. <3
A lack of RPGs for the Gamecube? Namco saves the day! Tales of Symphonia is a game for the player who wants to get the most of of the experience. And believe me, when it ended (after eighty hours with the sidequests), I found myself craving more.
STORY: 8/10
You really want to find out what happens next in this game. It starts out generic enough: Blah blah angels, tree of mana, chosen, etc...but soon enough there are plot twists that leave you reeling, and you find yourself actually feeling sad when the characters are sad. It's also quite funny. Points off, however, for the voice acting, which can be terribly melodramatic at times. Also, the story is kind of...killed by sidequests at some points. But that's okay, as long as you like lots of questin'.
GAMEPLAY: 10/10
Yes, yes, YES. Finally, some great gameplay that isn't turn-based! Yep, it's live-action--really keeps you on your toes. You can play with three friends (which is much more fun then by yourself, although sometimes, you might be randomly placed offscreen while trying to fight). Once you master the sometimes complex battle system, you'll be linking attacks and pulling some of the coolest combos EVER. Fights are certainly hard enough-you NEED those Life Bottles. You must react quickly because you don't have too many opportunities to mull.
Navigating and walking around towns is just plain fun, although the world map can be hard to figure out at times. (Kratos: WTF LLOYD! WHY ARE U ALWAYZ GOING TEH RONG WAYZ??!!??1! Me: S...sorry...@_@) But that's okay, and eventually you get plane-type thingies you can fly around the world in, and they make navigation a LOT easier.
The puzzles are hard, but what would an RPG be without tough dungeons? They're not THAT bad, anyway. Some of them are quote fun to solve.
GRAPHICS: 10/10
The most lovely graphics I've seen in a long time. The characters are cute and cel-shaded, but the sense of anime in the actual gameplay is not incredibly over-powering, so it's okay if your don't dig it. There are a few anime cutscenes, which are the coolest thing ever, but there certainly could have been more of them. Battle effects are AWESOME, whether Genis's Indignation or Colette's Holy Judgement. Beautiful.
SOUND: 9/10
The music? Do you even have to ask? It's great. The tunes fit the settings perfectly. The battle music is great, it makes you excited, hyper even. And the fight However, like I said in the story section: VOICE-ACTING. "No-ooo-oo-o-OOO!" Seriously...but some of the voices are good, and it's cool to hear the characters talk in battle.
OVERALL: 10/10
Very few flaws, a solid experience, and a fair amount of replayability, with multiple endings and events and a hella lotta sidequests. Good luck!
