Nowhere you can't go

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 9 / 9

From the empire state building to the statue of liberty to the daily bugle, there's nowhere you can't go.Spider-man 2 is like a grand theft auto meets Spider-man meets true crime without the guns. The controls you'll learn in the first 10 minutes but swinging takes time to get used to.The map is huge. You can go to the empire state building, the statue of liberty,Oscorp, the daily bugle,Central park, and even you can see the twin towers memorial at night(well thats what I heard). Now on to Gameplay.

Gameplay:
The game is like the movie and it makes you feel like your really Spider-man.I mean you've got to get to MJ's play on time, deliver pizzas,go take pictures of yourself for the daily bugle, and more. Now you can see why Peter doesn't want to be Spider-man anymore cause on your way to your destination something happens which include banks being robbed, break ins and more.

Baddies:
Doc Ock is the main baddie but others such as Mysterio and Rhino are in the game as well.Even Black Cat is here but she's got no powers.

Audio and Graphics:
The audio is good and the music is great for someparts. The graphics are great too.Only the people in distress don't really have much detail. You will see the same people alot.Their mouths don' move which is ok.The cutscenes are excellent, even Black Cat looks real and Spider-man is perfect.

Swinging:
Now comes the best part, swinging.Theirs two types:Easy and Normal.Easy is well...Easy,but Normal swinging gives you more control over your webbing. This time you have to hit something to swing which means no more swinging on a invisible roof.Web zip is not the same.Instead of zipping like in the first one,It's like the movie how Spider-man pulls himself up to start swinging but it's still ok.

Overall:
Overall, this is a really great game.If your a Spider-man fan you'll like it like me,or if your looking just for a good game, you'll like it too.I suggest playing it or renting it before buying it that way you won't buy a game you don't like.Overall I give it a 10.

This is more like it.

This will be one of the best games out this year. First off, the game-play has been completly reworked, and now you can atcually drop all the way to the streets without dieing. Its a seemless world like Jak II now too. They added a "random crime" thing where there are minor crimes that go off at times, and you can choose to stop them or just ingnore them. Also, scripted missions, that follow the movie plot. All in all this game will be awsome.

Graphics 5/5
Sound (Don't know, havn't heard it)
Control ?(great)?
Overall - 5/5

Also, the Swing system has been fixed, so the webs don't just dissapear into the sky above you, it is actuall swining, where the web has to connect to the buildings. They made sure this works too.

It's been a very long time since I've played a game this fun. As is commonly known, games based on movie licenses are supposed to suck. This game does not, in any way.

The first thing needed for playing the game is to learn the rop-- err, the webs. Learn how to move, swing, jump, etc. Spidey can crawl on walls, leap up then, run across them, swing, slingshot himself, tie enemies to traffic lights, and do whatever a spider can, and more. You'll have to purchase upgrades as the game goes on (sometimes in order to unlock the next chapter), but by far, this is the best thing about the game: simply leaping and swinging through the city.

The engine seems reminiscent of Grand Theft Auto 3 (and beyond) in that you can travel the entire city, doing missions and jobs. The difference is, you help people instead of hurt them, and you've got super-powers, which give this a longer shelf-life (I love Grand Theft Auto, but it does get boring after a while.)

The storyline deviates from the movie a bit, taking you through different locales, events, and adding in some characters to make the game more diverse. Which brings me to another good thing about this game aside from web-slinging: It's hard. A lot of people don't like hard games, but I do. Not hard as in cheap, fixed combat. Hard as in, your fingers have to WORK to play this. I spent over an hour playing the Mysterio chapter, and after beating it and deciding to call it a night, my fingers ached from all the work they had to do. I haven't had one of my appendages ache since the button-tapping in Metal Gear Solid, and that was just my thumb.

To solidify the experience is the video and audio. While the camera can be erratic when climbing on a narrow surface (such as the construction yard,) it's otherwise good, and remains in your control. The graphics are marvelous, and while they're a little more pixelated on the PS2, the X-box and Gamecube versions are pretty solid. The music would have been better if it had parts of Danny Elfman's score for the movie, but I can understand the copyright issues there. But the audio benefits from the voices of Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, and even moreso from the instruction tutorial by none other than Bruce Campbell.

If you enjoy challening, fun games that really give you the bang for your buck, Spider-man 2 is the game for you.

Grand Theft Spidey?

They say if it ain't broke, then don't fix it. I loved the first Spider-Man game. The graphics were crisp and detailed, the story was deep and involving, and the controls were precise and tight. Then Grand Theft Auto: Vice City came out, which completely re-wrote the video game genre. Games like True Crime and The Getaway were released that practically copied the GTA formula: Free roaming cities, mini-missions, mayhem and violence, etc. Add Spider-Man 2 to the list with mediocre results.

I admit that I was initially excited when I heard that Spider-Man could now swing freely through the city and bust bad guys on the streets below. Though the former is exhilirating and excellently implemented, the latter is dull and repititious. Like GTA, there is a mini-map of the city in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Whenever there is trouble, a green icon will appear in the location where a crime is taking place. Unfortunately, there is a lack of variety in these missions. You will either have to prevent a robber from getting away, take an injured civilian to the hospital, catch a civilian from falling to his or her death, or save people from a sinking boat. After a few of these, you'll begin wishing that the game would just get on with the story. Solving these missions contribute to your "Hero Points" which allow you to purchase moves and combos from a Spidey Store. Since when did Spidey have to buy his own moves and combos? Strange...

Unfortunately, due to the heavy reliance on memory and processing power to produce the massive scope of the game, the graphics are the first to suffer. In most instances, the game resembled a Playstation 1 game. Spidey generally looks good, but the other characters in the game look like spray-painted cardboard boxes. I would have preferred a much scaled-down city in order to boost the quality of the graphics because quite frankly, Spider-Man 2 is an ugly game.

Fans of the first game will most likely be disappointed with the sequel. Though the ability to explore the city by swinging from building to building is a treat, the gameplay and graphics truly suffer. This one is definately a rental.

I LOVE THIS GAME!

This is an extremley fun game, it is worth your $50.00 and has a lot of gameplay. (Took me over 20 hours, and i used cheat codes!!) It has a lot of repetitive side missions u have to play though. The controls are pretty easy, but there are a lot of them, and are placed around the gamepad well. The bosses are really fun in this game, SPOILER: they are, Rhino, Quenten Beck, Mysterio, Shocker, and DOC OCK!!!
Doc ock is fun the first two times, (Bank, Train.) But is practically impossible the third time, all in all this is a good game, and if u are a Spidey fanatic or just want a really fun game, this is the game for u.

Awesome Game!

It's a really good game. It's fun to swing around New York and the Statue of Liberty. The graphics are awesome. It's a bummer that it is rated T, since I am only 8 1/2 years old, but my parents sometimes let me play it. I love to play it and my parents think I play it too much. I can't wait till Spiderman 3 comes out.

I know the first Spider-man movie game sucked. But Activision has worked very hard on this free range action game. The training is very helpfull and the controls are easy to adapt to. I thought this game would do one thing wrong and that would be what you would do after you beet the story mode, but unlike most games this one doesn't go back to the menu screen after you win. Instead you are free to keep swinging arond the city and stopping crime even after you complete the story mode. I personally didn't care for the story mode that much but my friend did and he's a huge Spider-man fan. The graphics are prety good once you set aside the facts that alot of people look the same and this game can get prety repetitive. The audio is very well done and I haven't seen gameplay like this sice Halo! Don't waste money renting this game if you get a chance to buy it DO!

Graphics = A-

Audio = A

Can you say best game ever?

About 2 weeks ago, I bought Spiderman 2 and instantly knew this was the best game ever. From Chapter 1 ( That's how they divide the game. The equivelent of a chapter is a level)It was exilirating. After learning the basics You can easily zip from one end of the city to the next. You get to battle a whole cast of great enimies including Quentin Beck, Mysterio, Shocker, a whole bunch of Thugs, and Doc Ock. What's differnet about Spider-man 2 is that there is a whole new swinging system where you actually have to find something to swing on not just thin air. This may sound like a pain but its the best thing ever because now you have to figure in gravity and physics so you actually feel like you are swinging through the air. There is also a whole bunch of awards you can get by doing or collecting various things. While playing the game you have to accumulate Hero Points. You can get these by solving various street crimes or pulling of cool acrobatic moves. HWat do you do with these points you ask? You go to one of the many stores scattered around the city and buy amazing powerups and new moves. You also get to swing and explore New York City monuments like the Brooklin Bridge and The Statue of Liberty. What I find to be another great part of the game is that the missions are not simple. It will take you a few tries before you actually get past the chapter. Another addition to this game is Black Cat. With her you will take down Shocker and many thugs. When you beat the final battle with Doc Ock and see the credits roll you assume its the end of the game. But it's not. For the next chapter you have to get 50,000 Hero Points( An insane amount!) I have not yet beaten this but I hope there is more after. So all in all if you have even a speck of intrest in Video Games you will instatly find out this is the best game you have ever played. It is worth every penny. So what are you waiting for? Go out and buy it!

BUY THIS GAME NOW

I might not be a huge gamer like most of u, but I know a good game when I see 1! The first game sucked, but lucky for u this game dosen't. A cool new thing in SP2 is that the whole island of Manhattan is your personal playground YOU CAN WALK ON THE GROUND!!! And they have a new web system so you can attach your webs to things this time. The combat is solid! They give you 50 new combos to totally kill stuff with. All right i'm done buy this game now, spider-man fan or not

Great Game... Great game. You really cant get into spider man until you play this. You get all of spidys moves and combos, you can web tie 4 people at once, hang vilans from lamp posts and web swing through all of New York yes, all of New York. You get to battle 3 mojor supervillans(Rino, Mysterio, and, of corse Doc Ock. The only bad part is... no multiplayer, sadly. But I think it is probaly the best of the year, buy it.
