Spider Man is Back!

All right, first of all, let me state that I LOVED the fist Spider Man! But, the bad thing about it was how you would swing from your web... which was attached to nothing!
But, in this game you NEED to find a building, pole, or whatever to swing around the city. That is, unless you want to become a little stain on the sidewalk.
Another cool feature is the random crime generator! In other words minor crimes appear around the city! (Reminds me of True Crime: Streets of LA). Example: You're swingin' through the city and, all of a sudden, you hear a cry for help! What to do? You could just ignore the crime, and let people get hurt, or you could drop in on that A**wipe and beat the living hell outta him! I, myself, would want to teach him a VERY painful lesson.
Now you know why Spider Man 2 is gonna rock! Oh, and don't forget to watch the movie!

How can Spidey run (yeah, like only on his feet) up walls? He doesn't have the sticky things on his feet! Other than that, this game ROCKS! I spent hours just swinging around and listning to the people below yelling "Look! Spider-Man!" and "Hey, Spidey!". What's really cool is that if your web doesn't have something to attach to, Spidey falls! Unlike the last game, where you could soar through the skies on nothing. The graphics are smooth, and you can run on the ground. The programmers even went to such details, like gravity, and the length of the web. If you wait for too long to make your web, you actually touch down while still holding on to the web! So, in short, buy this game!

You'll have more fun at the theatre...

Where do I begin to even point out this game's shortcomings?

1) Graphics-I can understand that, while wanting to make every penny possible on the Spidey franchise, they rushed this, but there's no excuse. Chippy characters, flat envioronments, uninspired cut-scenes. This is a bad excuse for PS1 graphics for lack of a better comparison.

2) Control-You've got someone to guide you through the basics, and once you've got them down, controling Spidey isn't as easy as it should be. Rigid and blocky, you really need to be on your toes in order to execute some of the more advanced moves you can obtain later in the game.

3) Story-Intertqined between the new film and a mixed tossing of the standard second banannas from the comics, the story doesn't progress very well. At one point, you're heading to class (which you'll be late for anyway), meeting up with Harry and Mary Jane (which you'll be late for as well), heading to a dinner with Mary Jane (guess what happens?!) and then you meet up with Black Cat to have a little rooftop tag. Ooookay. The vocal work by the actors themselves is a nice touch, but it's too little too late.

All in all, rent this for a few days and be glad you can take it back. Check out the movie instead.

Before I tell you how great this game is I want to tell you that the freakisly long review at the top has LIED, Electro and the Lizard are not seen in this game, now I will tell you how great this game is. Damn this is one great game! You do your fancy little web-swinging all over the Big Apple. That means all of New York, from Lady Liberty to the suberbs and all the skyscrapes, nightclubs, and all the people who don't have a life in between.

This is what I call "The Reality Game", cause unlike the other 2 spidy games(Spider-Man 1, and Spider-Man) where you shoot webs into the air and swing around like a idiot, only land on roof tops, and go into enormous built that could never be made in our life time. You can swing off the buildings, go on the street or on the tops of building, and go inside normal size buildings.

Besides Doc. Oc, you go aginst Shocker, a guy who can shoot electricity out of his iron gloves. Rhino, an 8" with to much muscels, a cybornetic skin-tight suit with a big ass horn on his noggen, and he dosen't use his smarts. Last is Mysterio, a redard with a fish bowl on his head.

Spider-man 2 suffers from a few key things that the makers must have seen as updates, but really just bog the game down. One is the new swinging system, in the old game you held down the swing button and went on your way, in spidey 2 you have more control over the swinging but it gets very tedious to swing in the direction you want, spidey never seems to go straight, always swinging towards buildings and running into things, this gets quite tedious when chasing villains and on timed events. Secondly we have the addition of hero points, each chapter has a set amount of points you need to get by doing things for local citizens (stopping robberies etc) there are only about 5 things which you earn hero points through, so after about 20 minutes you've seen it all. Add to this that you only get one true mission per chapter, and these missions can be as pointless as going to meet mary jane for a movie. Third you only have one attack button, no more kick and punch, its just punch now and that takes some fun out of the action. And lastly you have to buy upgrades for spidey's abilities... spidey isnt a wizard in dungeons and dragons, upgrading is tedious and robs you of some moves you had in the original game, moves you expect to have. Overall I would say spidey 1 is the superior game, yes its true you cant run around on the streets of new york in that game, but hey when you do you have to do dumb things like helping kids get the balloon they just let go of. Spidey 1 has set missions that keep you interested, and its a much more cinematic and fun experience.

I dont have this game yet but from what i see it looks like the best superhero game ever.i am goin to get this game you should too.you get too walk on the streets of NYC in this game its goin to be so cool.icant wait to get it.

This game is really funny and is awesome because you can go anywhere and do anything you want! Spidey has new moves and old enemies. Its like grand theft auto but with spiderman. You could go on rooftops and on the streets! I thought Spiderman 2 was going to be good and is better than good. Its a good game to buy on the gamecube console.

I tried this game at my friends house on PS2 and i Loved it. I could of played it the whole day. I have Gamecube, so a day later i went out to buy it. Its awesome. The best game. I loved the first one and this was much much better. Its more like the movie. U get missions and everything its the BEST! U swing on wall not just from the sky. u can buy stuff to improve ur skills its awesome! Get this game. U wont regret it!!!!!! Its just fun to even swing around and do nothing. Some missions are to beat thugs and then (this is the best part) go after them in a car chase just like in the 1st movie!! U never run out of web either ITs awesome Buy It!!!!

OMG!! this game kicks butt!! its alot better then spiderman the movie game 1 that game only deserved 2 stars so all you super hero fans or grand theft auto fans i tottaly reccomend this game for you!
