empire at war

It's a good game over all but I prefer the space battles not the land because the land battles are a lot harder because you have to hold all the landing zones while under attack.

An amazing game, even if you are not a SW fan

First of all, I must say that I am a SW fan, so you may find my review not that objective, but I am also a gamer, so here it is:

Since I run it for the first time, i was impressed with the interface, as you will hear the imperial march on the menu, and see a beautiful space battle on the background. I started the tutorials, wich are great, it took me like about an hour to fully understand the interface. Then I started the empire campaign (As my favorite villain or character of all times is Lord Vader), and WOW I really started to like this game. 2 hours later, I loved it. (Its amazing how the time passes on this game). The only reason I gave it 4 stars on overall, is that I felt like in ground battles, or even space battles, we could use more troops like in Rome Total war, etc. The number of troops or ships you control in a battle is not bad, but it could be a lot better. Overall, I give this score:

Graphics: 9
Gameplay: 10
Value: 10
Fun: 10
Strategy: 9
Enviroments: 10

A great game that is worth every penny!

The graphics leave a little to be desired, but overall the game is fun to play. My kids really get into the battles.

I've played this game at my friends house a lot because I love star wars and RTS games. THis is one of the best I've played. I think that a lot of that has to do with the space battles because they're awesome. If they weren't there the game would just be like another Command and Conquer game. I was really good at the economy and maneging planets because I also own Rome Total
War and I knew how to do it. This game Rocks

quickly gets old...

it's really a superficial game lacking any real depth. like many rts's, once you figure out how to win the game its basically over for you. you will stick around to launch a few star destroyers and play with the heroes, but this game doesn't have more than a week's (or less) worth of play to it really.

Average game

I started this game with high expectations and hopes. I played both Rebels and Imperials and was not impressed with either. The story is very bland and in no way makes me want to fight on. Every battle is about overpowering. There is next to no strategy other than the aforementioned. I ran into several bugs on my way through the Rebel campaigns (Antilles and some Y-wings are required for a mission, I had both and I was still rejected from the space mission). I experienced no real issues with the imperial campaign. Once you understand how to progress through the game, it is relatively easy on any of the difficulty settings. Another disappointment was the small number of building and unit options.

Graphics are fairly decent, but nothing fantastic. The battlecam view for space missions is about the coolest thing about the game. Viewing the battlecam on the ground is Blah.

Space Battles V. Ground Battles
Ground battles and space battles, in my opinion, are more or less the same. As long as you have the upper hand in fire power, you'll win. I'll lean towards space only because of the battlecam.

The Online options are fun. Space Skirmish's, Campaigns modes, etc. Unfortunately it becomes boring fast.

I suggest to anyone who is interested in buying this game to go to the Lucasarts and Gamefaqs website and check out the forums and reviews.

LucasArts hasn't impressed me one bit lately(KOTOR 2 anyone), and this will be the last time I buy a game from them so close to its release.

Good game, but could have be better

If your a big Star Wars fan such as I am, you're probably going to get this game anyway. I'll let you know though that it was over hyped and I'll tell you real quick why I think that. The ground (or planetary battles) are rather weak and they don't have that epic feel that the movies do. I think that part was neglected when they made the game. Like it was rushed or something. On a good note, the space battles are visually stunning and offer a good strategy challenge for you RTS fans. I esspecially love how pieces of large ships are still floating around for a while after being destroyed. Plus, the music score is derived from all six movies and is used very well in this game. Overall, it's not a bad game but it could have been better.

Like the movie - flash but little substance

As far as games go this one has beautiful graphics. The game play is not innovative but is done well so it is fun to play. SW fans will like the theme and characters. It may use old game play, but that is not unusual. I would have liked to see more surprises. But then the latest SW films were mediocre and relied on FX and graphics. Of course it didn't have to to be a hit. The game company doesn't have to follow suit and could try to expand the boundaries of gaming, but then they knew it would sell anyway.

The game play is pretty good. The graphics are workable. It is a little too easy on the easy level. It does well accessing the Star Wars world.
