Too repetitive

This game is ok though way too repetitive for any long term appeal. I much prefer Command and Conquer generals which keeps you glued for days and days.

The missions do not have much variety as all you do is fight in space then fight on the ground, thank god you can autoresolve some conflicts as otherwise it would be way way to boring.

A Step Backwards

Despite what others may have said, this is a stripped down version of Rebellion. The verity of ground and space units are very limited to what it's potential could have been. There are only forty some planets to control compared with the more then a dozen solar systems (10 planets in each) that Rebellion possessed. But the most disappointing thing is the AI. In ground combat mode the AI will just come and attack you with minimal effort to draw them out. All you have to do is hold your position and wear them down. Space combat is a little better but still too easy. I recently managed to fend off an attack on a space station with more then 6 dozen enemy capital ships and over 100 fighters and managed to lose a meager 8 capital ships. The only good thing about this game is the cinematic camera mode during space combat. Lucas Arts needs to release more patches to fix the unaddressed bugs that still plague the game. EAW needs heavy modding before it can be a game that can hold your attention for more then 20 hours of playability. A good attempt. But the producers defiantly dropped the ball on this one.

Empire at War- love it now wheres the expansion

The game is a blast to play-it is a lot more fun than Rebellion and damned entertaining to play. I just love running around with Vader and the Emporer kicking the crap out of everything. And look at those AT-AT-the game rocks pure and simple.

The comments about the AI might be accurate on galactic conquest but the AI seems better on the Campaign screens that sort of follow the movies.

I hope that in the future a patch or expansion will become available that allows the building of Super Star Destroyers, the naming of your minor heros, the addition of more heros from the original trilogy and some of the books (the prequals stink like a dairy farm).

A rebellion element that is missing is the diplomacy of some of the characters- maybe not need in this game but liking rebellion I expected to see that in the game.

Overall- game rocks but theres lots that could be added. I love the cinimatic views.

Sweet RTS

This is a Really good game. I've played my fair share of Command and Conquer games, and this has them beat... bad. I like the fact that you can manage your own planets and defences, and I really like the hardpoints system (one where you can take out certain weapons/ vital systems on the ships). This game is also really good for gamers who are trying out the RTS genre, other than the fact that time does seem to move a little fast for everything that needs to be done during a battle. The campaign mode is excellent for learning how to play the game, and the games creators did a really good job about keeping it challenging (and perhaps a little frusterating) but without making it too dificult. Galactic Conquest is a different story, however, you will need to do a lot of pausing to keep up with the computer on the galactic map. I have not tried the multiplayer yet, so I can't speak for that. One of the biggest things that has frustrated me is the fact that the AI is a little, what's the word, strange. For instance, if the enemy attacks you, sometimes it will attack you with a crap load of X-wings or infantry. I have also had issues with my own units. Like, I would tell a ship to attack something that is within range of it's weapons, having destroyed something right next to it, and my ship responds by flanking it, or simply turning around and running. All of that could probably be fixed with an update or two. I give it five fun stars because this game kept me entertained for 4 months straight as my only game. I only give it 4 overall because the AI is a little funky, and when all your ships turn around and run in the crucial moment of a battle, it tends to aggrevate the best of us. I look forward to the Forces of Corruption Expantion.

Tough Game

The graphics on this game are excellent and the play interesting but I cannot get past the 4th scenario even on the easy setting. I think the game is meant for younger players with better hand and eye coordination.

A complete concept for strategy games

I think the game uses the strategy concept very well. My advice is if you play de tutorial at the beginning of the game you will enjoy it, otherwise it will be very complicate it. I think Lucas art has to work in the space battles to improve them and also add like they did in the past all the heroes of the movie and their population.

Too chaotic no strategy

Horrible gameplay. This game has absolutely very little tactics, it's all about who has the most units. I was hoping this would be more like C&C Generals, but instead its more like a crappy version of Warcraft where its all about rush tactics. I would strongly suggest trying the demo before wasting your money.

Good, Could have been better.

I enjoy the Star Wars games because I like being invited to hang out in the George Lucas's Star Wars universe. It has a nostalgic tie on my childhood that is hard to beat (the first movie I saw by myself in the movie theater when it came out in the 70's).

It was not buggy, and it ran well on my middle of the line Dell Dimension E510, bought in May 06.

I liked that there is no tedious resource harvesting like in Star Craft and similar games. You still needed to build industry, but it ran in the background churning out the credits. I would have liked some more planetary graphics to show the development of this, akin to the city view in the Civilization games, but that would be more for eye candy I suppose.

I like those in depth graphics for the escapism that games provide. I like to feel immersed in the universe.

I thought working on the Strategic map was a tad boring. If there is a game designer out there that cares, I wish it could have been more like Galactic Civilization: Dread Lords. That has a lovely strategic map.

Loved the space combat, except the limited starship counts (I want more warriors in the battle, like Total War Series). AI was not so challenging, but fun, not overwhelming graphics, and being able to watch it in cinematic was amusing, although there should be a reply feature so you can play it, then watch it. Again, if the game designers are listening. Add this kind of Space Combat to Galactic Civilizations (which only has the cinematic element to the space battles)

I want a game that has the best elements of previous games. This game has some good ones. Still waiting for that 'perfect' game.

More Star Wars

My 15 year old can't get enough Star Wars. He is happy with this one and there is an expansion pack available, too. The price is a huge savings over my retail store finds- love that!

The graphics are laughable.....

Quite frankly I almost had to laugh at the cinematic sequences. The graphics aren't that great. Typically command type games have lower graphic quality than other types of games, but this is pretty bad. If you can get past that though, the game is pretty fun to play, and it's somewhat unique at a time when the gaming market is rather stagnant in that regard. I don't see myself playing this game long, I'll probably beat it a few times and that's it.
