Not the best RE2 version...

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 1 / 2

This is not the best RE2 version as I was expecting it to be.
It's an exact port of the inferior PSX dual shock version. The
only thing changed is the title screen voice, it now sounds like the voice from the RE0 title screen. For some reason the ex-
files that linked the whole series together on the N64 version are now missing. I was really turned down by this RE port because It could of been better. After playing the GC port I still think the N64 version is the best but if you have never

played RE2 than I recomend you rent this one.

So cool..........sounding

I've been collecting these games for the GC since I got it almost a year ago. I loved the work Nintendo and Capcom put into RE1 and 0, I mean they completely rebuilt the first one. This one looks like it was put on a different format and burned on a GC disc. This is the cheapest port I have ever seen. The people at Nintendo dragged us in to thinking this would be just as good a port as the first one, and completely ruin what you think of Nintendo and Capcom's dedication to these ports with this game. The graphics are pitiful, there are no extras in it whatsoever, and they didn't even update the videos. I was a little suspicious when the back of the box had some cheap looking pictures, [costs] less than the first 2 games, said the game only took up one block on a memory card, and it was only on one GC disc. But oh well, the only reason I'm giving this 3 stars is because it's really fun. There are so many enemies everywhere you go. Although that does desensitize you to enemies after a while and tone down the fear factor, fighting is what I look for in a game. See 0 and the original were scary because you have no idea if there's gonna be an enemy in the next room and what kind it is, and you can count on having at least 3 in almost every room in this game. It's really great. But as I said, no upgrades at all were made to this port. So if you don't have this for another system and you like the RE series maybe you should get it.

Great game, if you don't already own it

I never owned the original version of this game, so I was happy when it was ported over to the gamecube. This game features slightly improved backgrounds to the original port, and has some awesome characters. Gameplay is like any RE game.

What makes this game (arguably) the best of the series? Each character (Leon and Claire) has two scenarios, an A and a B. If you play through one character's A scenario, you will then play through the opposite character's B scenario, which is the harder of the two scenarios. Therefore, you must beat this game a total of 4 times to truly beat it, which provides excellent replayability. Each scenario reveals more of the story until eventually you know the whole story. There are also a ton of minigames 3 extra characters, Hunk, Tofu, and a character who makes a return to the series, but I don't want to spoil it. The "boss" of the game, William Birkin, constantly mutates and starts to look amazing. If you've played RE Outbreak, you'll see this guy in the opening video totally remade. The game features a great story as well, as is the style of the series. This game proves that graphics aren't everything, although I still hope it will be graphically overhauled some day.

What the heck!?55 bucks!?!?!??

Ridiculous...you can buy a Playstation for 15 bucks, and a RE2 game for only 7 or 8 bucks at any store. This is a pathetic attempt to capitalize off of idiots. DO NOT BUY THIS!!!You can buy it for N64 for a very cheap price as well, and the graphics are the same. As far as I know they didn't really change anything about this game. I just cannot believe they are chargine so much money for this, RE3, and code veronica-X, unbelievable. This is a great game, if you buy it for PS1/PS2, or N64. I would rather play it on PS1 anyway, it has a more classic, old school feel to it. Anyway, if you are dumb enough to actually dish out 55-200 bucks for this game, be aware you are ripping yourself off.

odd remake

Ok, there have been dozens of reviews already letting people know that this isn't an updated version and it isn't. But having played the N64 version only a couple months back, I will say its a little easier on the eyes (little clearer)although the graphics are the same (that is, playstation 1 graphics). It also has battle modes(maybe the old one did too, i dunno), it allows you to play on easy mode with infinite ammo without having to score well on the game, etc

My main complaint? They took things out of the game which used to help tie the games together. In the N64 version you find letters telling you that the gun shop owner and barry were friends and that barry was planning on coming back all along. You can find jills diary (which became the monolgue in RE3) and records on different types of mutants from RE1. they took a lot of stuff like that out. The old password on the computer was "nemesis" which changes to "guest"... maybe they changed it after realizing nemesis would be used in #3.

Other than that, ones as good as the other. Pick a little clarity and use on a newer system or some extra story connections.

Good Game

This is an awesome game and I am a die-hard resident evil fan. I have beaten every game in the series and I own and saw the movie.I have every game for every system ever made so I think I know what I'm talking about. So this game is cool but kinda has the same graphics as Dreamcast. Nothing is really new like the Resident Evil 1 but if you are a die-hard fan like me then you better buy it. Oh yeah and the only reason the game got four stars is because of the graphics. If u are new to the series and have psone get the original resident evil if you can find it, it is awesome.

The best one!

I've played every Resident Evil game, and it took me forever to beat them. With all my hard work on this game, I would give it 5 stars. This one allows you to wonder around Racoon City and features more zombie types. The game does feature some very difficult moments, but I just love this game.

i first started playing resident evil games with the remake for the gamecube. it was amazing. the next RE game i played was RE2 for the gamecube. i new it wasnt a remake so i wasnt expecting too much. but it surprised me. this is a great game. the graphics are old, but when you are playing, you will barely notice. the onlytime you might is when somithing happens close to the camera, like if you shoot at it or glass breaks. oh, and you will notice the zombies arent as scary too. but when you get past the graphics, this game is almost as good as the first one for the gamecube. the game will still make you jump at times too. this just goes to show you that you don't need great graphics to make a great game.

Don't be an idiot!

First of all, I am not a kid. Second of all, you should know that unlike RE1 for the game cube, this is not a remake, just a port! So, if you liked the remake of RE1, forget about buying this version of RE2. Nothing can justify this! I highly reccomend the PC version if you don't have a Playstation.

A Legend Among Resident Evil Games

Resident Evil 2 could easily be the one game everyone loves most. The storyline is great with plenty of twist and turns. You will meet a variety of people along your adventure out of Raccoon City, from the Police Chief to a mysterious woman named Ada. You can play as either Claire Redfield or Leon S. Kennedy, and if you beat the game in the right amount of time you can even play as The Fourth Survivor. I highly reccommend this game.
