When I first saw this game I was at bestbuy playing the demo, I actually made my dad spend an extra hour at bestbuy so I could play it more. Now this is the sequel obviously to the original jedi knight game, note that I never had a chance to play it.
A few months after the bestbuy incident I ordered it, the installation is very quick and easy so I started the game itself.
I saw the opening movie and it just didn't cut it, the movements in the movie were just a tad too blocky and unrealistic, surprisingly though in the actual game, the movements were much more fluid and felt more natural. But what really earned this game it's score were the graphics they are absolutely amazing, I was surprised that much because it almost impossible to get this sort of graphical quality with a non-tweaked default windows card. When you get the lightsaber in something like the fourth level, and you turn it on, I sware it looks exactly like it does in the movies. Also, I forgot to mention that the sound is absolutly awesome. Along the levels you get a variety of useful weapons from a bazooka to a wookie bowcaster but nothing can come close to comparing to the light saber, with a little practise, this baby can clear a room in five seconds with the boomerang move. Also totally awesome is the force powers, you get force push, pull, mind trick, choke, and ofcourse my personal favorite force lightning, and with a few cheats, you can get it all instantly. Now the only problems that I had (and it isn't a very big ones at all,) is that there is a bit of chugging in certain levels such as yavin swamp, and that it is a tad repetitive and in certain levels hard to progress. The levels if you get a good veiw of them are really huge and you get that sense that it's a real world around you. My very favorite thing though, is that you get to meet up with characters, such as luke, and lando, and ofcourse 3p0 and r2.
Another cool thing is that there is a cantina sequence with the episode 4 cantina music, and that totally brought me back to the day. But one final downside is that the multiplayer option doesn't work on windows XP (atleast not for me.) The control is very good. I thought that one of the best parts was that you can have a lightsaber duel. The story is abit confusing but so what.
Even if you don't like star wars you are gonna love this game, a defintie mustbuy for anyone with a computer! fantastic!!
Just a note, this game does take quite a bit of RAM and I would not recommend it on a windows 95/98 editions, though nothing that can't be fixed with an extra card or two. Once again, AWESOME!!!!!
Simply the best

Without doubt, this is one of the best Star Wars games ever made, second only to Rebellion.
The book centres around the story of Kyle Katarn, the main character of the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series. Kyle and his partner, Jan, are up to old tricks, and are this time investigating some Imperial trouble for Mon Mothma.
The story itself I found to be tripe, which is why I gave this game 4 and not 5 stars. But nevertheless, i will explain it. After some initial 'probing' missions, Kyle comes across an Imperial conspiracy with a dark Jedi who plan to do some very evil things.
Later in the game, something happens to a close friend of Kyle's, something that prompts Kyle to return to the 'Valley of the Jedi' to regain his Jedi powers. After this, Kyle gets his lightsabre back, and his force powers continue to grow as he searches for the answers to the various puzzles until the game comes to a predictable, yet satisfying, ending.
The game is a gem of a first person shooter, and incorporates many traditional weapons such as the stormtrooper blaster, Wookie bowcaster, and thermal detonators. However, after the first few levels, Kyle recieves his lightsabre, and this is where the game really begins to shine.
The best part of the game, for me, were the lightsabre battles. With such realistic graphics and sound effects, I really understood what it was like to be Luke during his final confrontation with Vader. I have played the game through twice, and plan to do so again.
Every Star Wars fan should own this game, it is simply the best.
Power Guzzler but an overall great game

I would just like to qualify my statements right off the bat. I've only gotten through the first two levels so I haven't seen everything there is to offer about the game. I'm running it on a Win98 OS with an AMD K7 550 MHz with 192 MB of ram. I also have a GeForce 2 MX with either 32 or 63 meg of ram. So in other words I have a fairly high end system with the exception of the processor. Oh and I also have a Sound Blaster pc512 sound card.
There have been some statements about the game being incredibly slow. The game provides a good amount of adjustibility with the graphics and sound output of the game. I must say that when I cranked the graphics up to full output it ground the game to a halt. (it took me 5 mins to exit from the level so I could readjust the settings) This should be expected though if you have an older processor, which unfortunately applies to anything less than 1GHz. How much processing power the games guzzles however is ofset by how you can tweak the settings. When the game is in the default configuration the game ran perfectly fine on my machine
Graphics-4 stars
The graphics in this game are alright, they haven't been shaded and smoothed out as some other games such as the Mechwarrior series, either that or they aren't as compatibly with my graphics card. However over all, the graphics look good with some neat scenes and special effects. In level two you can fall of a series of pipes to fall to your death a hundred feet below and the game automatically cuts to third person where you can see yourself flailing and dying when you hit. Maybe its morbid but it seemed pretty neat.
Sound-4.5 stars
The sound is very clear and understandable. Just about every human you come across talks in the game and their speech becomes louder as you get closer, warning you of that stormtrooper around the corner. The enemies in the game also casually chat and make some funny comments. Overall a great sound setup. The only thing that knocks it down is that i did start hearing some repetitive phrases which sorta bugs me.
Gameplay-4.5 stars
The gameplay is challenging but not overly slow. I'm probably the average in skill but it took me 4 hours or so to get through the first level. However since they're 20 levels that is a fair amount of game playing time ahead of me. I liked the interface and how they handle the probles of being a first person shooting game. The character is easy to handle and does exactly what you want him to do. There is enough complexity in the game so that you aren't just shooting bad guys and you must use some strategy. I haven't yet gotten my lightsaber or force powers, but they are also rumored to be impressive. Overall I liked the feel of the game.
So there y ou have it. If you have a slow machine be prepared to only use the defaults (supposed to be common sense), however, if you have a faster machine this game will probably be much more impressive, i can't wait to get my hands on a new 1.4-2 ghz processor. There is really nothing to bad to say about the game, just a few minor things that i think but it from being the best it could be and that's why i gave it a 4.5

When I went over to my friends house I saw the demo they were playing. This is game is awesome. It's like being a jedi. You have jedi powers like pull, mind tricks, push throwing lightsabers & more! When I came home I used my money I was saving up on a PS2 & bought it. I don't even want a PS2 anymore. It is that good! These are the Audiences I recommend it for: Dark Forces fans, first person shooter gamers, Star Wars fans, kids 10 & up, & espiecially teens... Oh yeah, the graphics are as good as on a PS2 (amazing).

I bought this game after months of hype only to discover that you dont have the light saber from the start and there arnt as many wild turkeys(or ugnoughts) to dice up as in the Jedi Knight 2. For many avid fans (and demented sickos) this isnt a problem but for others (such as me...)but anyway....
The missions involve taxing and (occasionally useless) illogical puzzles which usually involve mad jumpy puzzles or crazy 'find the grate' puzzles. And with such large missions such as the Artus Mine mission it can take hours just to find one bloody grate!
The game features REALLY sweet weapons but theres no blood! You should be able to througly chop up your attackers instead of this kiddy [stuff]. My guess is that lucasarts toned down the violence purposly as not to wreck their reputation. Raven would have done the opposote if they had total control.
Lots of starwars fans will really enjoy finally going to places such as Yavin and meeting luke skywalker but others may not so make sure you dont go and waste [you're money]!
Very good game

My brother and I recently bought this game and beat within only a matter of days. It's cool side is that you have greater sabre ability (Ex: throwing), the force powers are much more useful. I'm sure that most game fans will love this one. On the other hand though, I'm just becoming tired of first-person shooter games. Also I think that some of the designs and the story line for this game are really weak. Desan is a geek. His minions are geeks. The character designs as well as the story line look like they were concieved with in a day or two. Instead of a fresh idea, they just regurgatate the Valley of the Jedi plot from the last game. Then again, maybe I'm just completely gamed out...

The powers are really cool and the lightsaber moves are sweet. You can cut peoples arms off and stuff. In decapataion mode you can slice thier heads off. The graphics for computer are O-K but once it comes out for X-Box they will be better. But of course there are going to be some new sweet games like Brute Force out.
You haven't lived 'till you play this awesome game.
