Bridge Commander, a game with so much potential

When I fist saw the pics of bridge commander I thought it looked fun, probrably more so than the other star trek games I've played like SFC III. I was wrong. It's a whole lot better than those could ever hope to be. Yeah, the story game is fun, but the real fun lies in quick battle. You go into it, though, and think where are all the ships. The fact is this game doesn't come with much but has a good basis. Since I first got this game I've gone many times to www.bcfiles.com and downloaded mods, ships, and other fun things for the game. Now the once empty bridge commander is full of all sorts of ships and other interesting things. So, if you want a fun game that's true to star trek and are willing to do a little work online to make it better, bridge commander is the game for you.
The politcally correct version of Unreal 2; sort of....

Good? Yes. Just as good as the original Elite Force? No.
Elite Force II is a worthy sequel of it's prequel-hardly.
Ritual Entertainment failed to execute the original star trek expansive level design that Raven did in the original, and feeling. Music is cheesy. There's a lot of big guns and blowing up huge aliens with alotta surprises, at least. Thank god theres no geekish "Set phases to stun" crap! Multiplayer isn't as well established as the original but still holds it's poor boy scene. Graphically, elite force 2 pushes the limits of a enhanced version of quake 3 arena engine. It provides pretty good detail in both characters and environments using direct-x 9 and opengl software and opengl hardware capabilities. Thus the graphics need a bit more polish. The game is twice as short as the original and is easier by a long shot. There is no gender choice like there was in the original. At least ef2 provides two exclusuive multiplayer models. Voice acting is big budget and top notch, and sound effects really depend on what your PC is capable of, but on state of the art systems, elite force 2 manages very nicely sound effects wise. Weapons are very cool! 10 weapons of mass destruction really shines during game-play. Enemies are tough big and don't hold back a punch! Physics are pretty realistic though could have been written more efficiently. A.I is poor and pathetic, whoever wrote the A.I needs 12 months in the school of "A.I scripting", really! Overall game-play is good, but not great. The game performs lousy on systems that are below the high-end system specifications. (P4/AMD 3ghz, GeForce FX 5900 Ultra/Radeon 9800 pro 256, 1GB+ of RAM) Interface is decent and can be cool at times. LAN play is a smooth buttah! Online play isn't so smooth, that' for sure! Cut-scenes aren't the best. They could be better. There are a variety of hardware and software accelerated graphics and audio options, and really make their apperance well. The same quality real-time shadows that were used in Jedi Outcast are used in elite force 2 as well, which is great! Hopefully a patch will be released soon for ef2. Other graphics effects are the standard, you know. high quality 44khz sound output rates, A3D-EAX, 16-bit+ sound quality, and surround sound options are implemented into audio options. Of course. The average. But what really is disapointing is how EF2's disapointing worthyeness of it's presedood really impacts my hype and drooling trek anticipation. Elite force 2 overall is a good game, but not great. Pretty good, actually. But isn't quite the worthy sequel I expected. But that's not all to say about it! There's a lot more to ef2, as you know! [hopefully], so the bottom line is:
The game is pretty good but not very good.
And that's a fact!
DO NOT BUY FROM VINDOR

This was a disappointing follow up to the previous release. I was interested in the Star Trek world and really excited when I found out this took place on the Enterprise. However, that excitement slowly faded to bland interest. Let me give you the lowdown on how this game works.
1) Start New Mission
2) Get separated from rest of away team
3) Open door / climb stairs / take elevator
4) Blast everything in sight
5) Find another door
6) Goto step 4, until your tired of mindless shooting or you have killed all 4000 monsters on each level.
7) Goto step 1
This in a word is stupid. I wish I hadn't wasted my money.
i think its fine i mean no game is perfect

now i have been playing star trek games since i can remeber and have always watched the SFC series grow in games and of course the first was a classic the second was a upgrade but they never got out of captain kirks era in the games wich was fine but i always thought how cool it would be to fly the current ships and SFC3 was born its perfect because its the events leading up to the newst movie star trek:nemisis and filled up to it nicely you now can even download a activision add-on that has a mission where you fly shinzon's scriminator the warship from the movie i think its great and well worth your money in so many ways....
A top notch Simulator

Yes, this game is good...no, it's great. The graphics: awesome. The sound: unsurpassed. The gameplay: unique, inovative and fun. Though I haven't tried the voice activated option, it seems like a good idea. The game can get difficult, especially when trying to manage your ship systems where-as trying to fight a battle. Try this game, or better yet, buy it.
The best.

The new version Starfleet Command 3 is out but You might want to buy this game next to it. This version has better interface and gameplay. SFC3 interface is worse. Only difference is the time difference. SFC2 is Orginal Star Trek. SFC3 is Next Generation
Where are the Borg?

Ok. Its cool, all in all. But where are the Borg?
Also, it would be great if in quick battle mode you could warp to other planets and stars.
What about custom designing your own missions?
Common guys! Develop these for the expansion pack.
Pretty Good actually...

I enjoy the game. There are some frustrating points, but overall, it is good. Make sure that you have a fast computer, otherwise the game might freeze on you, unless you have it set on low detail. And when it says "letest technology voice-automated system" it is true, but they don't tell you you need to buy an additional... program to get this to work. The lip syncing is BAD...and the characters have no facial emotion whatsoever, but the gameplay is really good, and is JUST like a movie. Once you get the basics down, the game gets good.
Depends on how you look at it

Although this game has a number of features above and beyond Armada1 it also offers more instability even with the patch(at least on my machine). The warp speed feature is its best in my opinion and it allows for more ships to be built out of the box. However, when you take into consideration the extra mods that can be had on the net, this game fails by miles over Armada1. Sometimes more is not better. I would have prefered an Armada1 upgrade without more bugs.
