This game is just fantastic. The graphics are phenominal, and the story-line is great too. I suggest that you buy the guide, as this game gets pretty confusing. I reccomend this game to anyone who is into sci-fi type games, or just a good action adventure game!!
great game!

this is a great game. i bought it the day it came out in stores. it has better graphics than any other gamecube game and they surpass those of most other games, too. i agree with the guy who said to stop mentioning halo 2 in their reviews. if you want to talk about halo 2, write a review for that, not mp2. sheesh. also, i agree with the person who said that the fans of halo 2 and mp2 should stop fighting. i know! they're both great games. as far as i'm concerned, you can divide people into 3 groups: people who love halo 2 and hate mp2, vice-versa, and people who will admit they're both good.
plot:this game takes place after metroid prime. a meteor made of phazon(a material that mutates creatures) hit the planet of aether 80 years ago, splitting it into two dimensions: one of light and one of darkness. in the dark world the air is poisonous(probably because of phazon in the atmosphere). the inhabitants of the light world, the luminoth, are at war with the evil spider-like inhabitants of the dark world, the ing. the ing are winning. they can't take physical form in the light world, so they possess light world creatures(possessed creatures are called darklings). a possessed creature has the word dark in front of its normal name(example: splinter= dark splinter). recently, a federation vessel engaged a space pirate vessel and pursued it to the surface of aether, unaware of its perils. two weeks later, contact with them was lost. the galactic federation sent the galaxy's greatest bounty hunter, samus aran, to locate the troopers and render assistance. upon her arrival, she finds that the troopers have been killed by dark splinters(large dark bugs),that the space pirates are mining phazon, and that a mysterious dark version of herself, dubbed dark samus, is on the loose. the ing steal most of her suit's abilities, and samus encounters u-mos, the only remaining active luminoth, who asks her to help them. she agrees. great storyline!
hint: set the gamecube's date to december 25 and play the game you'll get a pleasant christmas surprise.

This game is hot and rolling. It has a good storyline, perfect graphics, and nice new looking weapons! The only two things that I have to say against it are:
(1) The glich after the Echo Visor
(2) The Scan Visor is too colorful these days!
Another thing is that the difficulty of finding everything(I had to ask my cousin for help)was very painful. The idea of Dark Samus is also genius-thinking! She look so awsome at the end when she takes of her so cool visor that reveals her three eyes. The reason why I rated it 4 stars and I'm saying it is so good is because...Well, I'll tell you the truth. I'm not really into Metroid games. What I mean to say is that, I suck at them!!! Anyways, great job to the people who made this game and I can't wait for the next Metroid game that comes out. As I said before, "Metroids, look out!"

Prime goal for someone trying to craft a realistic storyline in the Metroid universe: somehow come up with a convincing story and world to explain the traditional catacombs of the series, split up by powered doors, filled with odd alien creatures, power-up items, and the occasional boss. Crap, that's tough, and this game nails it.
The eruption of processing power in consoles provides a means for the Metroid universe to open up like never before, the ability to craft a real, beautiful and ugly, natural and technological, world that can be explored and that's pleasing to explore. Hidden secrets are really secret--but not in the sense of earlier installments, simply being behind a false two dimensional block. Here, you've got to crawl through three-dimensional obstacles, slide up obscured tracks, alarmingly realistic. You know it's realistic when you find yourself craning your neck--your real physical tendon and larynx and floating hyoid neck--to look for things.
Bosses always occur in stages, stages typically requiring the employment of some obscure weapon technology, but never in a clumsy way. The graphics are amazing, the first person-perspective comfortable as your own skin.
And, moreover, there's a coherent science-fiction level plot behind this. Sure it's somewhat clichéd, what with its light and dark worlds, but the excessive infestation of detail makes them believable, and that is the beauty of the game.
This offers no innovations from Metroid Prime; it's just another indispensable sequel on the same formula.
Hard but incredible

This is another great metroid game, but it is a little similar to the first one and so are the weapons. I mean, the light beam is like the plasma beam in the first game and the dark beam is like the ice beam in the first game. The savestations are much farther and you still lose all your cool gadgets in the beginning. Despite all these cons, the bosses are more challenging, there is more action, a great story plot, better graphics, more lively, and that you can travel to another dimension in Aether. It reminds me of Halo and acts like a Halo. And since Halo is a great game, that means that so is this one and if you can't take the heat then you aren't fit for first-person shooters.
It sucks... sucks... sucks... sucks

First of all I'm not some raging Halo... Xbox or PS2 fanboy. I actually own and played this game. On top of all that I'm not a ranting Gamecube fanboy either. So, on with my review...
Alright, so this is one of the worst games I have ever been foolish enough to buy... why? Well pretty much everything... I'll break it down for you...
Graphics 8/10
They look pretty good... but they are far from realistic, they have a very bright feel... not that dark, imersive feel that should be there. They are nicly detailed but I noticed when scanning stuff with your visor it's pixalized... and it's very noticable.
Sound 5/10
There is nothing special here at all. You got your standard monster-like sounds... nothing that made my jaw drop... oh and ProLocic II is there too.
Controls 1/10
This has to be the worst aspect of the game. WHY THE CLASSIC CONTROL SYSTEM!? By that I mean that you move with only one stick... oh this is f*****g annoying. It is impossible to simply turn the damn character... and to move around the 'beautiful' levels with any sort of ease. This is especially annoying in battle, it's fine when you actually lock onto the enemy but it's hard to just turn toward the enemy unless you go into... uh free aim mode (by pressing R) but you turn so damn slow that by the time your turner around the enemy has moved to another side of the arena. The should've switched to precision controls (or at least gave you the option to) which would've made the game worlds better. Other than that major flaw the controls are acceptable.
Actual Gameplay 3/10 (this should cover everything else)
Ok, so you have like 5 different weapons to pick from... which all look similar. So anyway, you travel through the SAME world the whole game shooting everything that moves and solving pointless puzzles... with the occasional, challenging boss battles. Ahh past all that comes another thing that annoys the living hell outta me is savepoints... where are they? There is a serious lack of save points in this crappy game. Worst or all when you die after a boss fight you can't simply restart the fight... nooooo you have to revert back to your last save point which is usually very long before that fight. If you wanna learn more about what you actually do read a fanboy review or a Gamespot review.
This concludes my review... I'd say rent this game first. Trust me on this one, unless your some fanboy then just buy it as you'll like it no matter how bad it is. Final score 2/5
Very good game!!!!!

My friend said you have to buy Metroid Prime for Nintendo Gamecube when it came out so I did. I learned right off this is a hard game but extremely fun and long. Game is over 200 hours which makes it the record breaking longest gameplay. It was amazing looking and everything tied in just right but still was to hard and long. I have seen several screens for Metroid Prime 2 and we might just have the next major competetor for Halo 2 which releases at the same time as this one. The graphics are even more improved along with controls new features and guns. This game will be perfect like the first but only if it's a little more short and not so hard in my opinion.
