I just got this game yesterday and it was a lot different to me than Metroid Prime!!! It is more difficult, it has a scaning things looks alot different, It has alot better graphics and Samas's suit looks different for some reason, but the gameplay is the same. I am only 7% through the game and it is better than the original Prime.

One of the best metroids ever. I've played all the Metroids and this is by far the best. THe multiplayer mode could be better but the singler player is awesome. If you liked the first metroid prime you like this one even better. This is a must if you like adventure games.

this game is great and "master of all games" the reason it hasnt been on the top 5 most wanted cause its not out yet duh... im not saying its the best game ever but it is very good... in this game it has the same battle as metroid prime but its slightly tweaked and has more adventures... samus comes back investagating the bravo teams disapperance and find a friendly race but the dark creatures called the ING are trying to destroy them... samus gets new items and weapons such as the light suit and the dark suit, the light beam and the dark beam and even screw attack! a move used when samus sumersualuts and whatever she toches is injured. and the standard metroid prime moves like power beam, missles, double jump, bomb, and power bomb. but unlike regular beams the light beam and the dark beam have limited ammo... they also are used as weaknesses agasit certain creatures... they are esstinal for the game... what seems to be a simple mission to samus erupts into trouble once a dark creature is silently stalking her and the space pirants are once again out to get her... the problem witht his ame is it has nothing to do with the chozo and its basicly like metroid prime.. and if you're planing to buy this for your kid its sort of violent but not bloody all it is is shooting and staregy. i seriously recomend this game and if you liked metroid prime 1 this is a must.

Metroid was a great game. Not perfect but good enough to recieve five stars. Many people are comparing this to halo 2 but i have to say this is an unfair comparison since in my view this isn't a true shooter like halo 2 but more of and adventure game. The save function of this game is a little annoying but if you are rather skilled at the game you shouldn't have too much trouble finding stations. I like the dark world and think it was a good idea but not exucuted perfectly. The boss fights are definately the highlight of this game. There was only one boss which i didn't like, that was the boost guardian. doing that in the dark world with energy constantly drained was annoying. That one battle took almost eight trys to complete. As for the people complaining of the atmosphere in the dark world what i can say is that you get two suit upgrades. One which slows down the damage considorably and one which stops it completely. The final boss was easy. I thought something was missing about half-way through the game and after completing it with 98% logbook entries and 100% wepon upgrades i can say that the missing link was the metroids {which only played a small part in the game} and the usual beams. The ammo sistem was a little annoying as well. The only thing i think metroid should include next time is vehicle combat.

overall score: 9.75

I loved the first one and I love the second one. What I love about this one is that it's harder!! I've actually died a few times!!! I always love a good challenge, and this game is big enough to last you many hours of gameplay and intricate enough to make you think and have to backtrack your steps to find the extra items. It has great graphics, a fun story, and you really feel like you're kicking [...] playing Samus ;)

Metroid Prime 2 is nothing short of amazing. The graphics are probably some of the best I've ever seen and the storyline is great. I won't disagree that this is very similar to Metroid Prime, but only in the weapons/power-ups aspect. The overall game is very different. If you're someone who likes a video game that isn't just running around shooting things, but also provides mind-challenging entertainment, MP2 is perfect. It's extremely challenging and unless you have a strategy guide, you won't beat it in four days like most games.
On the note of the strategy guide, I advise you get one, but don't use it throughout the whole game; only use it if you are thoroughly stuck.

The multiplayer isn't great, but the Single Player more than compensates.

Overall, this is the best game I've ever played.

Great "Metroid Prime" Sequel...

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 1

Considering it was a quick sequel, anyone expecting there to be massive changes to the original "Metroid Prime" game engine and play controls were just busy deluding themselves. That's not generally how the industry works, folks. And as someone who has played every "Metroid" game (minus the DS games), I had my worries about a poisonous Dark World with limited ammo.

In short, there's nothing to worry about.

If you played the original "Metroid Prime" (MP1), you spend less time getting accustomed to the controls and get ramped into the game easily. That's a plus for me, and this game is still about twice as long as its predecessor. Plus, in my view, MP1 had too many repetitive Space Pirate battles that just became a bore after a while, rather than a challenge. And the trend of missiles becoming increasingly worthless, as started with "Super Metroid," officially ended with this game. Limited beam ammo means becoming increasingly creative in some battles.

While some people have complained about the areas being a bit "boring," well, that's a matter of opinion. The "Metroid" series always had a certain claustrophobia about it until MP1, and all MP2 here does is reclaim that sense of dread that I came to love with the series. Even then, though, there's still plenty of eye candy to enjoy, particularly later on in the game.

All in all, it's a game worth playing. I frankly enjoyed it much more than I did playing MP1, and a game that is longer, requires more strategy, and has a bit more difficulty is something I heartily welcome. It was a hell of a lot of fun.

Samus Never Falters

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 1

Just two short years after Samus's return to the heights of gameplay and design, Retro Studios again deems the time ripe for a new Metroid adventure, and once again they deliver a product with an overwhelming attention to detail and artistry to show Samus's true fans exactly what their favorite heroine is capable of. Metroid Prime 2 Echoes targets longtime series fans with its classic elements, but challenges even the most hardened bounty hunter with a huge adventure, mind-numbing environmental puzzles, and the most climactic and creative boss encounters that the series has ever produced.

Samus's trek through two parallel dimensions will immediately conjure up memories of 1992's A Link to the Past in the imaginations of longtime Nintendo fans, but Samus's latest journey takes that idea as far as is concievable. Every aspect of the game is tied into the basic theme of Dark and Light. The planet, weapons, enemies, visors, suits, etc... all have dark and light variations. The puzzles usually involve interacting with objects on both worlds to progress, and the nature of the organic world design WILL bend your mind. Thankfully, the acclaimed Visor system makes a triumphant return, and the map system is as detailed and understandable as ever. Although you will wander aimlessly sometimes, it's part of the basic nature of the game since Prime 2, like it's predecessor, is an adventure game and not a first-person shooter. Also, the difficulty of this new Metroid is at least twice that of the original, so save whenever possible and think before and after you shoot, because seemingly harmless little creatures tend to pose a deadly threat.

The biggest highlight of this game would have to be the Boss encounters. Ranging in scale from 50 feet tall to barely above Samus's kneecap, each one is memorable, challenging, and extremely creative. Quite often I would do a double take when the boss music kicked in because the situation didn't seem all that boss-like, but once the battle was under way I'd alternate between grinning about the originality and grimacing as I realised my chances for survival. My personal favorite involve three distinct phases and took me over half an hour to beat, but what a battle.

Also of note are the graphics and sound, which in this game can sometimes be taken for granted after the shocking detail found in the the first Prime. While not drastically changed this time around, the graphics are exceptional, with virtually every surface rounded and organic and the whole world feels much more concrete. The atmosphere is a lot darker this time, owing to the Dark world, and it is completely immersive. The sound is of the highest caliber with a great score that has some great remixes of earlier Metroid tunes (Maridia) and a plethora of moody, low-key new tunes to keep you on edge. A couple of more epic tunes would have rounded off the selection, but there's always Metroid Prime 3 for Nintendo's Revolution.

In the end Prime 2 will most certainly satisfy Samus's dedicated legions. It succeeds in every aspect of production and leaves us longing for Samus's next adventure. Here's hoping that it will be a Revolutionary one.
