My 9 year old loves the game but, he also loves 1,2 and 3 on 64. Not much difference except for superior graphics on the Game Cube. The mini-games are more challenging or maybe it's just me but, the game seems to take longer than the previous ones because of the different challenges during game play. This is basically the same game as Mario Party 3 with different mini-games. All of the same players with the exception that Bowser is much tougher and the Chance Time space now expands to a pin-ball mode. The 20 turn mode is plenty for this game, beyond that, it becomes boring. Nintendo could have used the technology to have expanded this into the success of Super Mario but chose to use the same board game on a different year. Overall, however, for kids, it's an entertaining game for long time play.

I haven't played the other Mario Party games, but I can tell you that this one is awesome. In single player mode it can be pretty boreing and time consuming... but with 2 or more players, it really becomes a lot of fun. At many points I was laughing so hard I was crying.
The control is pretty basic, so any age group can play. Also, you don't have to be familar with the game beforehand to play, as the Practice mode before each mini-game helps new players become familar with what they are supposed to do.
All in all, I give this game 5 stars for group play, but only 3 for single player mode.

Mario Party 4 is the 4th installment of the popular series. You play on a board like a real boardgame and you got to roll the dice. You win the game when you collect enough stars. Collecting Stars will cost you 20 coins (or no coins at all if you find a star in a hidden box).
I have been a fan of the Mario Party series ever since I played Mario Party 2. Four people can play in this fun game!

I rented this game last night and just didn't enjoy it a lot. If you are a big fan of the other Mario Party games, you will love this game because there are a few extra things and of course slightly better graphics. There are many new mini games that are very fun (one of my favorites was where you and a partner are climbing up the side of a cliff but have to be careful not to get blown off by a snowstorm.) However, the reason I have problems with Mario Party games in general is of how long it seems to take each player to take their turn ("rolling" the dice, moving, and the results from that). I dont care about seeing what happens to the computer players. However, I guess the makers were trying to make it as much of a real board game as possible (waiting patiently for your turn). The only truly fun part for me is the Mini Games. If you LOVE Mario Party, go ahead and buy it, but if you have doubts, rent first.

The newest in the MP series,Mario Party 4 is the best party game ever, even better than Xbox's Fuzion Frenzy. And better yet,it's made by the world's most famous game developer, the almighty Nintendo!
Mario,Luigi,Yoshi,DK,Peach,Daisy,Wario, and Walugi are all back for some more mini game action!
-With the new Mini-Mega system,it'll add more depth to the game!If you're Mega, you can walk more spaces, and stomp on other players to steal their coins!
If you're Mini, you can squeeze into small places, like pipes, and uncover new shortcuts!
-And now,the boards are fully rendered in 3-D,unlike the original Mario Parties. The graphics are so awesome,I think they are as good as Xbox's graphics.Plus, they're so good, sometimes I forget that I'm playing a computer-generated game and not a live action game show!
-Over 50 new mini-games,to keep the parties going on for hours!Mini games, ranging from simple ground-pounding,to shooting basketballs,to driving a race car.
The plot of the game is,it's Mario's(or whichever character you pick)20th birthday(when this game was made last year),and Toad,Koopa,Boo,and others have given your some furniture for your house,as a birthday present. But,you'll have to earn them by winning at each of the boards that the characters have made up.
Also, after you complete the game with every character, somethin' good will happen...
Also, don't give me any of this,"it's too hard for my kids!".These MP games are meant to be simple and appealing to all ages. For example, when you go into a mini game, your host will let you practise the game,he'll show you how to control the game, and, heck,he'll even give you hints! Now,does that sound "hard"?
Overall, this is a awesome game, and if you don't have it,go click that button called "Add to Cart".

Mario Party 4 doesn't need two-colored semi-transparent spheres to have a great time. As far as minigames go, Mario squashes the Monkeys with about ten times as many minigames, and better ones, for that matter. As for the board game, it can get sort of dull at times, and the "Mini-Mega" system doesn't help either, but it does provide a nice strategic twist. I bought both Monkey Ball games at the same time, because I heard they had tons of great minigames. Well, they don't, (Except for Monkey Fight in Super Monkey Ball 1) and Mario Party 4 comes out way on top. If you want good party games, buy Super Smash Bros. Melee, buy Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, and buy this game, but beware the monkeys. (P.S.: I actually wanted to give this game 4.5 stars, but there's no option for that.)

This game is truely destained to become a classic. New boards, spaces, items, and a new REALLY fat genie make this game worth buying. The ONLY downside is most of the game is SOOOOOOOOOOO easy. I've beaten every board on my first try(and I'm usually bad at Mario Party)! Then again, some parts are immensly hard. All in all, this game deserves to be played an reconized. BUY NOW!!!
Great Game! I should know, I've played it already

Mario Party 4 is awesome. I should know, I was lucky enough to attend E3 and play it for about an hour. All your favorite characters and more in this game. The mini games are great and the graphics are super neat and clean.

I have been a huge fan of the Mario Party games ever since it came out in 1999. So this will add 4 to my collection, but i recommend that you buy this game becuase i have seen screen shots of the game and the graphics look really cool, plus the gamecube will bring this game to new levels by adding new features, such as 50 minigames, more boardgames, more worlds, and more features, but i will let you find out if you buy the game. But i suggest you buy this game before it gets sold out. This game is a good game for those ultimate gaming partiers.

Ah, finally Mario party is back, and all freshened up and new for the game cube. But what really makes this any better than the previous games in the series? Some would agree that a game gets old by the 4th sequel if it's still the same generally gameplay, but I'm not one of those people. In my opinion, Mario Party 4 is new in many ways. For one thing it has a great assortment of new and creative mini games, all of witch are fun and different. Also it has a lot of cool features like large and small mushrooms, (Large allow you to trample you opponents for coins, wile small allows you to gain access to special paths.)
While I have not yet played it I have played the prequels, therefore having a feel for the generally gameplay. And after reading many reviews and watching many gameplay movies I can get a good feel of how this game will be.
If you are a fan of Mario party I would defiantly suggest this game. If you have a few friends over one night, I would suggest you at least rent it and give it a try.
Overall, I believe this game will be quite good, and a great asset at small parties.
My overall rating of the game would be an 8.5 I hope my review was helpful.
