Not a standard RPG but still an exceptional one

A strange mist is covering the landscape and the kingdoms of the world must try to unite to counter the evil. On a mission to aid her father, young Princess Katia discovers a power to employ the abilities of mystic cards. With these cards at her side, she goes to save her father, and destroy the source of the fog blanketing the land. Lost Kingdoms is not your standard RPG, but I'll get to those details shortly. The graphics of this game are very good. The detail on the summoned monsters is very good, as well as the animations of the characters. Play control can't get much simpler, and the music always fits the on screen action. Now to the game design; the cards Princess Katia uses can be divided into three types, Weapons, Summons, and Independents. The power contained within these cards can be incredibly powerful. You use these cards in real time battles as you go through missions. When engaged in battle, you have complete freedom of movement. Upon completion of the battle, the cards that struck the finishing blow to the monster recieve experience. You can then use this experience to transform the card into another form, or to make a duplicate of the card. There's a lot to do in this game and a lot of cards to collect. As of now, this is the closest the Game Cube has to a full fledged RPG, but this is still brillant. With an innovative system of battle and an overall unique gaming approach, Lost Kingdoms is not to be missed by anyone.

This game looks great! It is a card based RPG, which means you go around collecting cards, and you use them to summon creatures to do battle for you. It is the first RPG available for the Gamecube, and it is also exclusive!!

Better than a regular RPG!!!

I bought this game after reading a couple of reviews and was a little nervous. A lot of reveiws say this game [is bad], yeah right this game rocks! The card RPG idea is even better than a traditional RPG. I mean you get to design your own decks out of the cards you collected and name them! You can buy, sell, transform and copy your cards! The creatures you can collect and battle are really cool. My favorite thing about this game is once you finish (which I havn't yet) or even before you you are done with it. You and your friend get to load your decks from your files and battle them in a two player battle!! It is totally fun. In my opinion this game is just as good as final fantasy 10 if not better. Lost Kingdoms is a must buy for Gamecube if you like adventure RPG games. I hope this reveiw is helpful to you.

This game is great. I bought it and din't know if it would be to good. The battle system is great and it is a pretty long game. The only problem I have with it is that you can't go back to the levels you've beaten until you complete the game. Its hard to get some cards that way, but other than that, i recommend tyhis game.

Not a standard RPG, but not as bad as everybody thinks

I bought this game the day it came out, and i was pretty hooked. A lot of people hated it, and found it boring, but the new RPG style is intriguing and difficult at parts. I have beaten the game completely, and I'll tell you that it is no easy task. Getting through the story mode isn't hard, I did it in about 6 and a half hours, but finding all the cards, getting all the fairies, and having 5 stars on every level (especially the last one) is a hard thing to do. The game says it should take 20 hours to finish, but I'd say 6 hours to complete story and a long time after that doing everything else (maybe not 20 hours, but close). If u like the game, take the time to finish it and don't stop after story mode. It's well worth it. The replay value of this game is fair, although everything is close to the same the second time. Multiplayer is fun if u know someone with a deck that is equal to your own, otherwise it's extremely boring. This game has great graphics, good sound, and an innovative new style. It lacks replayability, can be hard at first, the chick u play as is useless on her own, and the camera angles are shabby in spots. I'd recommend u rent it first, a lot of people won't like this game. But, if you're like me, pick it up right away. I'd give it a 4.5/5

[Alrighty, I saw a bunch of people writing 1 star reviews and complaining about how 'hard' this game is. I have to disagree. I mean, you'd have to be pretty braindead to think that this game has too hard of puzzles...and even MORE people were complaining about how you can only use a card once. Do you want this game to be that easy? This ain't a little 3-year-old game.]

Alright, now I'll start the good things. The graphics are very good, the backrounds are detailed, the music fits the level very well (which I LOVE in video games) and the battle style is very unique. The thing I like is that most of the levels look creepy and dark, like Hupon-Jen, for example... the controls can be a bit confusing at first, but you get the hang of it very quickly. All in all, this a wonderful game. Too bad so few people know about it.

very nice game.

i dont care what people say this is one of the most underated game ever and for something so good thats a real shame.I remember the day i got this game and at the time it was my favoroute and remains to this day an incredibly underated game.i have no idea what some of the other revewiers are saying the games gameplay is really good and the controls are easy and only the most pathetic gamers would have trouble adapting to it.look this game deserves a 5 star average enough.

I liked this game very much. Even though first it was kind of boring, but then fun's begun! This is a very new kind of game. It is exciting and interesting. When you collect all the cards in the game, it'll even be more fun. Each card has its own ability. This game is just cool. If you like real RPG's, you have to have Lost Kingdoms.
