When Lost Kingdoms came out, I rushed to blockbuster to rent it. I was very dissapointed. The gameplay was horrible compared to what it says you do on the back cover. You run around with cards that attack people, and I thought there would be animals you caught that you could use anytime instead of having a limit. This RPG is one of the worst games ever, so be hesitant when you purchase it.

This is an RPG master piece. It has a unique battle sytem. It's graphics aren't going to blow you away but they aren't horrible. It's really unique because of the cool card battles. It beats out FFX big time(which isn't really hard to beat but oh well, LOL)the controll is superb if not a little confusing. There are some minor flaws though. Randomn battles are really not good!

Overall the gameplay is pretty awsome, but the graphics could use a tune up cas i know gcn can do better than that. i recomend that u rent it first even if think its a great game from the reviews and all becas u might want to see how the game moves and such, have fun =)

When I first heard that Activision was developing the first RPG for the Gamecube, I shook my head in disappointment thinking it would be another cheap, boring, unpolished game. However, early previews insisted the game showed promise, and it would be the first to introduce a revolutionary real time combat system based on acquiring and organizing cards. To be fair, I remained open minded and bought it upon its release. After finishing the game in under 15 hours, I can honestly say it is one of the worst games i've played in years. To begin with, the graphics and animation leave much to be desired. All of the characters look cheap and poorly drawn. While the frame rate is excellent, the backgrounds and interactive environments are painfully plain and could very easily been produced on Playstation I. The story, or should I say the lack thereof, does not engage the gamer in the least. There are no interesting plot twists or zany characters that give RPGs that extra edge over standard action games. The long awaited real-time combat system is about as revolutionary as disposable tupperware. Here's how it works: Throughout the game, your character acquires many different cards. Each card represents a different creature you can summon during battle. There are literally hundreds of different cards in the game, but you can only cary a deck of 30. Furthermore, each card and creature in the game has an elemental property to it. This part is intuitive; water does damage to fire, that kind of thing. Although the card-based system could have been a miraculous new development in real-time RPG combat, after about 5 battles it becomes extremely boring and repetitive. Also, there does seem to be any strategic way to organize one's deck of cards. Just choose the monsters you like to see summoned. My biggest problem with this game is the lack of detail. Everything from the landscapes to the annoying music reeks of cheapness and poor planning, and I can't stand the weak story line that plagues most RPGs that focus on combat. Don't buy it unless you enjoy low-budget games.

i dont care what people say this is one of the most underated game ever and for something so good thats a real shame.I remember the day i got this game and at the time it was my favoroute and remains to this day an incredibly underated game.i have no idea what some of the other revewiers are saying the games gameplay is really good and the controls are easy and only the most pathetic gamers would have trouble adapting to it.look this game deserves a 5 star average enough.

I was only able to rent this game, but even after the first level, I was already hooked. I found myself constantly trying to figure out which cards would be suited for each mission. There are many types of cards so I try to balance myself out with some of each. I find the gameplay to be extremely good and love how the battles allow you to move freely. The minor downside is that the princess can't fight for herself, but besides that, I love the game.

Lost Kingdoms is a game that takes someone who will actually play this game and try to enjoy it. The par set on the graphics is surprising. This game was made in '01 and the fact that they look better then Sonic Adventure 2: Battle which is surprising as SA2B is a newer game. The card system is easy to use and even easier to learn. Many of the monster illustations are very unusual and fulfilling, like the first time you see the Blitzball scene at the beginning of Final Fantasy X. The only large downside that I see is that when you are in the field (which is the only place where you can actually fight) you can only carry thirty cards and when you use them once they're gone. So the only thing you can do when you run out of cards (they don't regenerate after battle) is die, or abort the mission. The 105 different cards don't give much of a challenge to collect, and there isn't much to do after you get all the cards, but some cards are very hard to find, and some can only be made by upgrading monsters. All in all, get this game to beat up some monsters, collect some cards, and have a good time. Have fun.

Okay, I rented this game, and it is your basic, average action-adventure game. The cards are a nice concept, but they are somewhat confusing. The levels are well put-together and nicely detailed, but every few steps in a level a battle come up, causing you to use cards. Some levels are immensely difficult, while others are easy as pie. What bugs me is your person is completely useless. When you are out of cards, you are helpless. You cant even throw a punch or kick. There are many diffrent cards, each doing diffrent amounts of damage. They work in diffrent ways, using all their energy in one attack, slowly using their energy to fight, or attacking with some of their energy when commanded. If you REALLY like RPG's then this is a buy, but a solid rent for anyone. I admit, some levels are hard and frustrating. Rating: 7/10

This game is very fun. The unique battle sytem is what made me buy this game! It's graphics aren't beautiful, and it has an expected cheesy plot like all RPGs. This game requires strategy and has barely anything to do with luck. It also has a great multiplayer option. This game surpasses many RPG series. A definet Gamecube must buy.

This is a neat game. It's totally unique. I've never played a role playing game quite like it. I do enjoy this game, very much. However I didn't like this game at first.

The reason is because even after reading the rule book I didn't understand this game at the beginning. It take a while to know how the different kinds of cards work.

Once I figured out how the cards advance and how to tranform them into more advanced types and I learned how to copy cards for creatures I really think work well, then I began to enjoy the game.

I'm not even half way through this game yet, but I am enjoying it now. It has a lot of cards. The monsters seem like they are taken right out of Dungeons and Dragons.

Wandering around in the 3 D world is really cool but I wish they provided a compass at the top of the mini-map so that I know in what direction I'm facing. When you travel around there are many times you adjust your camera angle to face in a new direction and I kinda lose my sense of direction. If I was traveling west but then changed my camera angle or had a battle, then sometimes I find myself wandering north or south when I still wanted to be going west.

You can't go wrong with this game! You can't die! Well you character can run out of hit points, but it's totally ok because your cards still earned experience when you restart the mission. There are many times you won't be able to finish a level on the first attempt at it. Sometimes you will want to abort a level if you run out of cards or you just want to build up experience for your cards.

When you have to replay a level the chests you opened or special items you found are still taken when you replay the level. So you don't have to completely backtrack and redo everything. The random encounters still occur and blue fairies are found in places when you replay a level. However if you take cards from the level or find red fairies once they are found they are gone from that level.

The longer you play the game the more experience your cards build up to either dupicate them(once a card is duplicated it costs experience points from that kinda of card to do so) transform them into a different card type. You can sell cards you no longer need and use the money to buy other cards.

This is not my favorite game. I like Eternal Darkness much better. Well Eternal Darkness isn't exactly a role playing game but your tome of darkness gets new spells as you play throughout the game and play differnet characters.

Lost Kingdoms isn't a role playing game either in my view. I mean Katia doesn't advance like a character should in other role playing games. Her cards change change type and gain experience but how is that different from the spells and items gained in Eternal Darkness? The spells have different levels and types in Eternal Darkness but Eternal Darkness isn't a role playing game.

Lost Kingdoms has elements of a role playing game but isn't a traditional role playing game. It's more of an adventure game. I mean you walk around and explore and occationally have battles and you find new cards which change into monsters to fight for you. The cards advance but your character doesn't really.

If you're looking for a traditional role playing game you may or may not like this game. I think this game is one that you will either like or hate.

However with the learning curve it takes to understand and enjoy the game it may not be for everyone.

I highly recommend getting the hint book for this game as it lists all the cards, where to find them, and charts for conversion of cards into other kinds of monsters. Plus there are some items hidden inside or behind objects and the hint book tells you which ones are important to the game.
