I just recently beat this game and enjoyed the whole process of it. Lego Star Wars follows the storyline of Episodes 1-3. You play through being the characters used in the movies. You can play as several different types of characters to help you get through this. The world is a lego world and is pretty funny.
The game doesn't offer a whole lot of chllenge. Very few of the levels are all that difficult. Finishing all the tasks in the game are a little more of a challenge.
I love the Jedi in the game. It's fun to run around with a lightsaber chopping up other little lego characters. You have the option to also use blasters if that is what the particular character uses. Jedi can use the force to manipulate objects and the world.
If you're a parent with children I'd get this game and play it with them. It's simple enough you can do it, and the gameplay is fun enough that anybody of any age can enjoy. If you're a hardcore Star Wars fan I still think you won't be disappointed. It's a cheap game that doens't offer cheap thrills. Go pick it up beat it and enjoy playing the free mode for hours.
Quite enjoyable

I liked the game, though it's not as good as Lego Star Wars: The Original Trilogy (which I played through first so I might be slightly biased due to that). Albeit, I'm not surprised, since the Star Wars I, II, and III weren't half as good as the Original Trilogy. And actually, this game is better than the movies it's based on.
Some of the aspects I really enjoyed:
1) Jar Jar Binks actually has a useful purpose with his extra high jumps.
2) It's fun to use the unlocked players in the Original Trilogy game
3) Lots of Jedi and Sith Lords to play with which is always fun.
Having played the sequel first, there are some bits which are missing because they clearly hadn't thought of them yet. For instance, the sequel has more stuff to collect and more bonus levels, though I can't decide if that's good or bad.
In the end, I'd have to recommend this game to any Star Wars fan because...well, it's Star Wars! How could you not enjoy it? So buy this, play it, finish it, and then go buy Lego Star Wars: The Original Trilogy, if you haven't already.
Legos... Star Wars... What else?

Everyone loves legos... Most people love Star Wars... I have to say that I think I liked the Legos version more than the George Lucas movies...
The antics of the little lego Obi-wan are hilarious. The gameplay is extremely simple. Of course, the plot is solid.
This is the best game that I've played in a long long time.
Great great game, but buggy on Nintendo

My 7 year old son and I played this on the PC before getting the Gamecube version. Although the gameplay is much better with the Nintendo controllers, we just keep hitting bugs that didn't exist in the PC version that really detract from the enjoyment of the game. On several levels, we got to the very end only to get hit with a bug that would cause us to replay the level all over.
Love this game

We have by easily put more hours into this game than any other gamecube game we have (with the possible exception of Pikmin). It's clever, fun and funny.

I've heard Lego Star Wars described as a game for kids...well, I'm not a kid, and I enjoyed this game A LOT!!!
And there's a lot to enjoy in this game - it has you coming back again and again to explore each aspect of each different level.
HOWEVER, if you're looking to buy Lego Star Wars, I recommend you wait for Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, which will combine the plot & features of Lego Star Wars I & II...it won't be released for Gamecube, though, so if you're looking for a great Gamecube game, this is a must-buy!
GREAT 2 player game

Just to introduce myself my name is Joshua and I am 10 years old.
My 8 year old brother Joel got this game for CHRISTmas. I didn't play it for a while, but then I decided it couldn't hurt so I gave it a try. Boy was I suprised! I said to myself WOW! I couldn't believe how much fun it was! Then I found myself playing it instead of my alltime favorite Mario Sunshine! Then I was amazed yet again, when my friend was over and I decided to play it with him it was SOOOOOOOOOOO fun! It was fun strategizing. He would cover while I would grab studs(the currency) and we would sometimes fight back to back when enemies came at both sides. Now I sometimes play it with my brother Joel. We both love it! Especially the advantage of just plugging in the controler and pressing start and your in, instead of turning of the system plugging in the controler and turning on the system again.
MODES
Well, there is the story which means you have the characters that were there in the movie and after you have completed a certain mission on story mode you can go on freeplay mode which allows you to use unlocked characters from other missions or use characters you have purchased with studs from missions. HINT Try using high jumping characters and characters equipped with guns in missions without one of them in the story mode.
These are my grades of the game from 1 to 10: Graphics=10 Fun=10 Multiplayer Fun=10 Sense Of Adventure=8.5 Overall=10
