This game will make you beg for a copy of bionicle. I played this game hoping for something similar to 13, but man was I in for a rude awakening. Art house craptacular. This game would be perfect if I decided to drop some LSD and blow my brains out after attempting to comprehend a pile of poop. "Hello master...you want to find some blood and soul bullets to make butterfly work for you." Beware! Buy only if you are a sadist!

As a game goes, it sucks. It really does scream to be put down. The story and voice acting is equally terrible. All in all, I'd have to say this was the worst game I've ever played. Unfortunately though, I've also played Cubivore, which ends up in a tie with this one for worst game ever as well.
One of the most Unique games since Shenmue...

I can't remember when was the last time I played a game as unique as Killer 7(other then Shenmue)but I will tell you, this game proves to be the perfect example of "a hate it or love it" game, and it proves that Capcome does try to do different things then make rehashed sequals like most game companies(GTA, HALO, Ratchet ect)and just proves(I'm too lazy to explain it or type it out)that video games have gone VERY mainstream. Killer 7(as the previous reviewer said)is like an ART house game. First off let me get this right off the bat.....the gameplay is not "terrible" or does not "Suck" as most game mags and sites seem to say it(Gamepro can kiss my..)just because they acctually played a game that is "different" doesn't mean it "sucks". 90% of the people who gave this game an average or below average score(not fans, Game sites/mags)were probably expecting fast paced action with lots of drugs/sex and everything GTA had!!!...Well it isn't, to anyone who is thinking about getting this game...if you're use to things like killing, killing and running around and more killing(like HALO2) DO NOT NOT EVEN TOUCH THIS GAME..Cause this game will make you use your brain(unless you use a stradigy guide)...Do you remember some of those annoying yet very rewarding puzzles in the original Resident Evil games?....EXPECT SOME OF THOSE, yes this game is pretty linear(obviously it was set that way)but the puzzles make up for that...And they really do make you think but you'll eventually figure it out and for people who don't like backtracking, THIS GAME ISN'T FOR YOU.
Let me be the first to say(or 4th)that the gameplay is very, very unique and cool(especially the heaven smiles, I don't know were capcom came up with a name like that, but I think it's brilliant). Especially the Rail track like gameplay, which is pretty cool but the best part about this game is the puzzle solving and the awesome First person shooting aspects(which I can't stop saying they pulled it off so well)were you have to scan areas to find the Heaven Smiles(those things are so disturbing).
Visually the game is very beautiful and some of the areas you're in just make you awe in amazement especially the cutscenes..they are just...beautiful, did I mention the character modeling is just fantastic? The way Capcom pulled off the Cell shaded/anime like characters just look great. And my lord the sound in this game is very disturbing(especially when you hear the Heavens Smile laughs)and those Robotic-like jibberish you get from the 3 helpers that guide through out the game. Some of the music in this game is also very cool, it sometimes has that "anime" feeling to it. As far as the storyline goes, one of the previous Reviewer tells it out very well so there is no point on me repeating what it's about.
Now let me tell you this....if you thought Manhunt was a very disturbing game, you haven't played KILLER 7, this whole game is just one dark, bloody masterpiece. From beginning to end you have this "tention" that the game brings to you that just gives you the creep, especially some of the stories you hear, like early on in the game you find a head in a dryer that tells you some pretty disturbing things but that's not it, you still have people like Travis(another person who guides you in the game)and another person that tells you some disturbing stories.
Now most games(like GTA)now I for one for the first time in a long time have to say this games theme is so dark and disturbing little kids shouldn't even play this...The game truly deserves it's M rating for Stylized Violence with limbs and heads being blown off in very anime/stylish like ways, Strong Language and just listening to some of those stories makes this game deserve its 17 and over rating!!! This game isn't for little kids....Now lets get to it
The Good
-Very unique and original
-Very cool gameplay
-First Person shooting aspects are just awesome
-Very disturbing and brilliantly original creatures
-Some of those "Resident Evil" like puzzles
-The violence in this game(sorry if I sould like some 13 year old who thinks Grand Theft Auto San Andreas is the greatest game ever)is very cool and sylish, I really liked the way Capcom did it, especially when you get a one hit kill
-The way you upgrade your characters by using blood from the creatures you killed, and turning it into serum is just very cool(I've been using that word alot in this review)
-Gamecube version runs much smoother with slightly better visuals and sound(plus I feel as if I have to say this but it just seems like a Gamecube game..)
-The storyline(though at times is confusing and needs some thinking)is pretty cool and involves some POLITICAL THEMES(acctually "some" is the worst way to describe it!!!)
-Using different Personas to solve some puzzles are very cool
-Spanning 2 discs, expect to spend more then 10 hours on this game
The Bad
-WHY CAPCOM! WHY!!! This game would have made an amazing Gamecube exclusive and another reason why you should own a GC!!
-The backtracking does get annoying at times...
-It gets a bit annoying when you die and have to resurect your your personas
-You either hate it or love it(I donno why I'm posting it on here)
Overall Killer 7 was a very big surprise of 05. It's very unique, original and just darn disturbing and creepy(this game ain't for the lil' ones). Though the story may need some putting together(even though you could just read the back of the games cover to know about it, but there is just MORE to it)it's very original. The gameplay is solid(no it doesn't suck)and the cell shaded/anime like visuals fit so well with the game.....did I mention the puzzles have some sort of "Resident Evil 1 2 and 3" feeling to it?...Overall I really liked this game it was one of the most unique games I've ever played since the original shenmue..I give this game a

"Killer 7" is the hardest game to review. Gamers may appreciate the unusual gameplay mechanics, while frown that it's not much of a "game". People looking for a complex and well-written script and plot might be as totally involved in this story as I was, while even the most die-hard analyst will be frustrated by this bizarre and demented tale. Moralists will surely scream at how profane, disturbing, and cruel-spirited this game is, while the more observant will hopefully gain some insight into the nature of the mentally and emotionally damaged.
I don't believe I can accurately describe how this game functions, nor can I really narrow down whether people will like this game or not. I have never seen such a huge split among gamers as to whether a game is any good or not.
So, because I think it's best to leave that to other writers, who've published excellent reviews, I'm gonna throw in some cheap advertising.
Those who've completed the game and want to enhance their experience about this original work of art should check out this website "http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/gamecube/file/killer7_plot.txt" This analysis of "Killer 7" is nothing like you've ever seen. This man has answered every question I can think of about this game. Check it out!

Killer7 is about an assassin named Harman Smith, although you don't get to play as Harman that often you do get to play as one of his seven personas. The first is Dan Smith who uses a revolver and is a well balanced assassin. The next is Kaede Smith she is smaller and has less health than the others, but uses her blood to break barriers throughout the game. Next we have Coyote Smith a small time crook who can pick any lock and jump to uncany hieghts. Con Smith is the youngest of the 7 and also blind, he uses duel semi-auto pistols and has such great hearing that he can see rooms that others can not with his sonar like abilities. Mask De Smith is an ex-wrestler with duel grenade launchers and can blow holes straight through certain walls. Kevin Smith only has a knife, which might sound crazy, but if things get to tough he just turns invisible and go right around the danger. Now we get to Harman Smith he is old and has to use a wheel chair to get around, but don't let that fool you he has the powers of a 'God Killer' and is the only person capable of seeing the 'Heaven Smiles'. Garcian Smith is the 'Cleaner' of the group not best for the acctual missions, but if one of the other members dies, he can resurrect them, so he could be the most valuable player on the team. Heaven Smiles are your main enemy which are invisible to the naked eye, but Harman can spot them with out a problem. This is just a little taste of the game, to truly enjoy and understand what I am talking about you'll have to play it for yourself. Which I ensure you will not be a waste of your time.

Killer7's main intention wasn't to create the best shooting game in the world. It was to create a unique game that is sure to offend some people and
freakishly charge up some. The graphics are cell shaded nicely. Making everything feel dark. This game is simple. All you do is walk, turn, fight, and solve puzzles. You are set to a limited trail to walk through. Not what I call "innovation", but it's different. Killer7 is about a man who is in a wheel chair and his assassins are his split personalities. Each has their own abilites and weapons. They can level up by collecting blood.
This game tries to be vulgar on purpose. The game tries to spray as much blood as possible. Almost every sentence in the game has a curse word in it. Whenever you defeat an enemy, your character will curse. Though, sometimes it tries too hard to be vulgar. But, that's the point. It's a game that was made intentionally to bug people out and please people of certain interest.
The shooting is weird. You have no ammo. It's pretty basic and the enemies can get repetetive. But, the story and cut scences can chain them all together well.
If you are looking for a no nonsense shooter which is fast and furious, this might not be for you. But if you are looking for a game which is unique and you get a kick out of disturbing content. Go for it. It's a hate it or love it title.
Pretty Good

Killer 7 is not your run of the mill action video game. I mean sure, it has weird moments, gory action, and a very surprising and creepy ending (Garcian does something horrible!), but it's a pretty good game once you get used to it. People who only want games with mindless action and a stupid plot should not get this game.

Killer 7 is a mature title that combines film noir, horror, and first person shooting in a game that is extremely artistic and unique.
Set in a futuristic but very bleak cel shaded world, you have the ability to morph between a number of gun-wielding individuals all named "Smith". There's Kaede Smith who is the only female, who wears a dress that barely covers her underwear. Garcian Smith is tall, dark skinned and handsome. Dan Smith is the forceful one, there's a blind Smith, a masked Smith and so on. As in most games of this ilk, each Smith has his (or her) own strengths and weaknesses, so part of the puzzle of the game is to figure out who to use in each situation.
There are a few puzzles, yes, but primarily the game is about shooting enemies at the indicated glowy yellow spot. A zombie-like creature staggers towards you. Their leg glows yellow. You shoot it and it explodes. In comes another, with a yellow glowing neck. You shoot the neck and it goes down. A larger glowing spot requires a powered up shot to take it out.
I found the graphics both impressive in an artistic way and a bit old school in how they were rendered. It definitely showed an artist's touch in the design of the characters and locations. However, the group which transferred them from the drawing board to the in-game system lost some of the shine along the way - many of the scenes looked "clunky". I've seen several other film noir style titles on the GameCube that didn't have the clunky problem, so it stood out. I actually felt sorry for the artist, that he had a great vision that you could appreciate, but it wasn't quite put up properly.
I got the same sort of feeling from the sound and dialogue. There were snippets that really had a film noir feeling going, and drew you into the feeling. But on the other hand, you had characters who kept saying the same thing Over and Over and Over again, until you were ready to look for glowy yellow spots on them. Much of the time the 'voice acting' involves reading subtitles while mechanized gibberish comes from the screen. To me, that's just not scary or dramatic. If the characters had a gnarly, spooky voice, or a manic, high squeaky one, or *something* with personality, I think it would have added a lot to the feeling.
Gameplay itself is an odd combination. On one hand, it's very directed. When you walk into an area, you get highlighted spots - people to talk to, items to interact with, places to go. Unlike most games that simply have arrows or circles around those areas, here you get splinter-like shards pointing you at them. Once you actually find a monster to kill (with yellow glowy target areas) you're in a more normal combat situation, where you aim and shoot. You do actually reload, too.
What I find odd about this all is that it's very much laid out as a "simple game" - which you would expect in a game aimed towards newer / younger gamers - but the content is VERY mature. There is a ton of blood, violence, swearing, sexual situations, etc. If the game really was meant for younger ones, it needs a lot of cleaning up before that would be appropriate. If the game was meant towards older gamers, I would expect the puzzles to be a bit more challenging, and the exploring to involve more thought.
Still, I don't mean to take away from the great effort put into this game to make it "different". With so many cookie cutter games out there, it takes an effort for a company to break the mold - and an effort to find enough gamers willing to open their minds and give the game a fair try. Far too many gamers get comfortable in a game style and immediately discount any game they try that doesn't fit into the mold.
So, lots of credit goes to these guys for their vision - but I think they didn't take quite enough time in testing and implementing it. I think if they come out with a sequel for the Wii, that has the much better graphic ability to really show the graphic vision, that it will become a true classic.
