Before I had bought this game I felt a little aware for its new and original type of gameplay. It actually worried me, losing my interest. Its the on-rail controls that worried me most. But for some reason I just coudnt ignore it. At the first five minutes of playing it I felt I might have made a mistake in buying it. But five minutes coudnt really tell me anything, so I had to give it a chance. Ten minutes later I found Killer 7 so God Dam addictive. I just coudnt keep my eyes off it. The seven characters are based on seven personalities. Each character has their different abilities and weapons and each are required in different areas throughout the game. The puzzles are similar to the resident evil series. Graphics have a stunning cel shade look. The original on-rail controls are just brilliantly done, taking gameplay to a more artistic look and feel to it. Its excellent how the plot evolves to different perspectives leading us to enjoy both storys and gameplay. Almost feels like playing a Quentin Tarantino video game.
I have heard many speak bad about this game that have probably only played it for a few minutes. To be honest its what I thought before purchasing.(My God was I wrong) Even myself, I like to play a game with constant action and no meaning. But this game is not constant action but plenty of meaning-and its BRILLIANT.
Pretty Good

Killer 7 is not your run of the mill action video game. I mean sure, it has weird moments, gory action, and a very surprising and creepy ending (Garcian does something horrible!), but it's a pretty good game once you get used to it. People who only want games with mindless action and a stupid plot should not get this game.

This game is brilliant. Original, challenging, scary, unique, stylish, easy-to-master controls, and great graphics and gameplay. It's basically a rail shooter. With puzzles.
Very gory in certain parts, like animie actually.
Brilliant game, I cannot recommend it enough. Ignore the haters, and buy this game. It's pure genius. I can't stop playing it.
10/10 st*rs.
HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended! **********/**********

Killer 7 is a mature title that combines film noir, horror, and first person shooting in a game that is extremely artistic and unique.
Set in a futuristic but very bleak cel shaded world, you have the ability to morph between a number of gun-wielding individuals all named "Smith". There's Kaede Smith who is the only female, who wears a dress that barely covers her underwear. Garcian Smith is tall, dark skinned and handsome. Dan Smith is the forceful one, there's a blind Smith, a masked Smith and so on. As in most games of this ilk, each Smith has his (or her) own strengths and weaknesses, so part of the puzzle of the game is to figure out who to use in each situation.
There are a few puzzles, yes, but primarily the game is about shooting enemies at the indicated glowy yellow spot. A zombie-like creature staggers towards you. Their leg glows yellow. You shoot it and it explodes. In comes another, with a yellow glowing neck. You shoot the neck and it goes down. A larger glowing spot requires a powered up shot to take it out.
I found the graphics both impressive in an artistic way and a bit old school in how they were rendered. It definitely showed an artist's touch in the design of the characters and locations. However, the group which transferred them from the drawing board to the in-game system lost some of the shine along the way - many of the scenes looked "clunky". I've seen several other film noir style titles on the GameCube that didn't have the clunky problem, so it stood out. I actually felt sorry for the artist, that he had a great vision that you could appreciate, but it wasn't quite put up properly.
I got the same sort of feeling from the sound and dialogue. There were snippets that really had a film noir feeling going, and drew you into the feeling. But on the other hand, you had characters who kept saying the same thing Over and Over and Over again, until you were ready to look for glowy yellow spots on them. Much of the time the 'voice acting' involves reading subtitles while mechanized gibberish comes from the screen. To me, that's just not scary or dramatic. If the characters had a gnarly, spooky voice, or a manic, high squeaky one, or *something* with personality, I think it would have added a lot to the feeling.
Gameplay itself is an odd combination. On one hand, it's very directed. When you walk into an area, you get highlighted spots - people to talk to, items to interact with, places to go. Unlike most games that simply have arrows or circles around those areas, here you get splinter-like shards pointing you at them. Once you actually find a monster to kill (with yellow glowy target areas) you're in a more normal combat situation, where you aim and shoot. You do actually reload, too.
What I find odd about this all is that it's very much laid out as a "simple game" - which you would expect in a game aimed towards newer / younger gamers - but the content is VERY mature. There is a ton of blood, violence, swearing, sexual situations, etc. If the game really was meant for younger ones, it needs a lot of cleaning up before that would be appropriate. If the game was meant towards older gamers, I would expect the puzzles to be a bit more challenging, and the exploring to involve more thought.
Still, I don't mean to take away from the great effort put into this game to make it "different". With so many cookie cutter games out there, it takes an effort for a company to break the mold - and an effort to find enough gamers willing to open their minds and give the game a fair try. Far too many gamers get comfortable in a game style and immediately discount any game they try that doesn't fit into the mold.
So, lots of credit goes to these guys for their vision - but I think they didn't take quite enough time in testing and implementing it. I think if they come out with a sequel for the Wii, that has the much better graphic ability to really show the graphic vision, that it will become a true classic.
We are in a tight spot!

Killer 7 is very different from many other games out there. It is both stylized and very, very, very bizzare.Basically picture RE4 with psychotic laughing enemies and getting upgrades with their blood. This is not for everyone do to the fact that not that many people, like me, who like these bizzare games. If you are not that way, give this game a home!
Prepare to lose your mind...and not miss it.

This game is best discribed as a psychological break with a controller. You play as one of seven personalities, the main questions in the game is: which is the original? why the dead sometimes don't die? why ALL the personalities seem to have had individual lives at one point? The graphics are a living breathing anime which requires some adjustment at first but, before too long your eyes fill in the gaps and the entire picture becomes 3D. The story is admittedly difficult to follow as far as origins of the characters, and who is working for who, so plan to play it at least twice to understand.
while most complain that the movement is lacking, or simple, it becomes evident that if it were not so you'd be wandering the same halls over and over and think you're getting somewhere. while providing an 'easy play' it's definitley one you're going to want to play again and again (if only to freak out your parents).
This game contains stylised gore and severe sexual situations(but no nudity, go figure) so, if you don't like these sorts of things then this is not the right game for you.
Interactive story is more like it

This is a game that does what you have most likely never seen in a game. It is a terribly twisted world that has many interesting characters (many of which you play as), but as far as gameplay goes, it is lacking. Killer 7 is played on rails; you press A to go forward, B to turn around, and hold R to aim your gun to shoot enemies. This severely limits gameplay, as you can go on a very limited amount of paths and makes the entire game extremely linear.
You can play as seven characters, each has their own personality and skill set. What it comes down to, sadly, is the fact that you will use only two or three of the characters throughout the game, except for the few times you need a specific characters special ability. This is due to some characters simply having better capabilities than others.
What Killer 7 lacks in actual gameplay, it makes up for in style, which is the main driving factor to keep you picking up the controller time and time again. The game is just so intriguing, with such odd visuals and characters. No other game looks like it.
Bottom line: the game's story and style are what will keep you playing, as the gameplay is fairly average. An all around good experience, with solid controls and outstanding visuals and sound.

I am not going to go into a long explanation why Killer7 is worth playing because for some people it won't be. For people who want to play a typical 3rd person action game, Killer7 will not be anything you expect.
I have both hated and loved this game at times but after coming back to it multiple times, I have gained respect for each time and enjoyed it more.
But I have still not completed it. Why? You might ask. Well the game is also one of the most frustrating games to play as well. The controls (much like Resident Evil) take quite a while to get comfortable with. And the puzzles make about as much sense as.... Well they make any sense at all.
So what's to like about the game? Well, once you get a handle on the combat, its quite fun. The sound design is simply awesome. The character animation and art work are unbelievable for a video game. It looks as good as most dark graphic novels. If feels that way too.
The game also manages to creep you out like few games can. The voices of the NPCs and the laughter of the enemies (Heavens Smiles) will disturb even the most steady gamer.
What I recommend is picking it up cheap, and use gamefaqs when the puzzles make no sense (they are easy but dumb) and take your time. I would also recommend re-starting the game once you get a real feel for the combat. You see, the game kind of punishes you for not playing well in the beginning which really isn't fair for such a bizarre game.
Why go through all that trouble to play Killer7. Because its just so cool. It truly is. Its completely unique and you haven't played anything like it, I guarantee. Its worth playing just to check out the animation work on the seven characters and the great sound design.
Will you enjoy the game? Only if you are a fan of the kind of art that the game is putting forward. For me, the gameplay was not good enough to keep me playing but the style, art, sound, and bizarre story, were enough to keep me coming back. And, in the end, I found a whole new appreciation for what the game did so well and put up with the stuff it didn't and I definitely think it was well worth it.
