Let me first say, that i love the Sims. With each expansion pack, the world of my characters grow and grow. This expansion pack expands that world and my character abilities.
Now your Sims can do magic! But they must learn how to do it correctly or the spells will backfire. There are new places to explore...new ingredients to collect...different spells to cast...etc. The magic element brings a whole new element to the Sims game...probably their best expansion pack yet.
You must have the original Sims or Deluxe/double deluxe. The expansion packs work best if you install them in the order they came out...if you bought them out of sequence, just uninstall and reinstall them in the right order. Makin Magic will be the last one.
I loved this expansion pack, because it fit into my well created neighborhood. As a big fan of BTVS (that's buffy the vampire slayer..for you non fans), I recreated Sunnydale and unlike the show, i control ALL.. That means Joyce and Tara are still alive...Kennedy burned up in a kitchen fire..spike and Buffy are on their way to true love (why won't she accept his proposal..i must be doing something wrong??) With the magic element, Sunnydale is like its meant to be. Willow and Tara are powerful Wiccans and the spells are fun to play with.
If you have the Sims...get this pack. its well worth it for hours of new gameplay.
Brilliant Idea!

Whoever thought up this one sure thought up a winner!! It's so fun to try out each spell. It sure takes a long time to get boring because you have to find all those ingredients! It takes longer than you might think.
There are also new objects and a whole other world- Magic Town- to explore! You can earn MagiCoins (to buy ingredients) by performing magic tricks and so forth for the crowds there. It's very cool. Just make sure those spells don't backfire on you!
The last chapter?

Wow! This is my favorite expansion so far. I have all of the expansion (even the sims2) and I still come back to this one. Upside... a whole new area to explore, you can duel people, take on personal quests, learn a new trade.... Downside... you have to put in a lot of time developing your creativity and logic to start doing anything cool. But, it is worth it. This game works great with all the expansions or by itself. Really worth the buy.
Awsome game

Maxis is really getting good at this, all the expansion packs are getting funner, if you like all the last expansion packs, you'll love this one! You get to make your sims into wizards and witches, turning guests into frogs, and getting even a pet dragon! I hope you will buy this because I'm sure you will enjoy it, but remember it is still a rated T game!

Whether you want to spice up your SIMS gaming experience or begin a new revolution if you're just starting out, the Sims Makin' Magic Expansion Pack is perfect for beginners or oldies alike.
This game adds both magical and carnival themes to your game.
Things you can do with the Sims Making Magic:
- Go to Magic Town. Magic Town is THE new area in Making Magic. You can even gather up your family and MOVE there, if you have enough Magic Coins!!! (Magic Coins is the type of money used to purchase items.) In magic town you can talk to vendors, buy things, perform tricks, ride roller coasters, etc.
- Obtain Magic Coins BY: Performing magic tricks in a variety of ways, dueling others, selling items with vendors, etc.
- Perform spells and make charms. Both children and adults can perform spells. These are accessible by the spellbook... and your sims have to go hunting for ingredients in Magic Town or even make some of these materials at home! which brings me to...
- Use a hearty selection of NEW items and furnishings with your game. Such as new walls, new roofs, and a whole section under Misc. titled "magic"
- COOK! Yup, there is a brand new oven that comes with the game. You can bake a variety of cakes, breads, and other delicious goodies. In addition there is a nectar presser where you can make wine and sell it for up to 300-400$!!! You can also store the wine to drink later, or barter with vendors in Magic Town.
- Have a pet dragon. (there are 3 forms...) each can be fed by having plenty of daffodils and wildflowers. =]
There is TONS more, but I won't spoil it for you! Buy the game and see for yourself!!!

Yes, it was neat when the Grim Reaper arrived when there was a death. It was cool when you could ask the cute neighbor on a date. It was awesome when you could re-create your pooch, Fido. But this is beyond all of those previous Sim games. This is much more than those things.
Unlike all of the other expansion packs, this one is a revolution. Turn that annoying in-law into a frog, or even banish him from the earth for an hour or two! Or force your crush, who never had any interest in you before, to marry you! (Or at least come over for a cup of tea!) Have a conversation with Great Grandpa William, who is buried in your backyard. Make money rain from the sky, and collect it to make a handy profit. Summon some freak who will fix all of your broken appliances. There isn't even any need to do dishes anymore - at least, not with the Dish Wish charm! There are countless things you can do with this fabulous game.
I have advice for all of you: if you haven't bought this game yet, you should. It will provide hours upon hours of entertainment. If you aren't already, soon you will find yourself addicted - guaranteed.
It is not at all what I expected

I hate to sound so negative but this game is not all what it is cracked up to be. Sure, there are tons of new items and magic gadgets; and, yes, there are the neat places to go but the time it takes to do them all is not worth it. You can meet several new characters in the Magic Town(thier last name being Strange), but you can never call them because they are always at work in Magic Town.
Also, every sim I have created with varying personalities get drained quickly from harvesting the honey, churning the butter, and the other tasks that can be done.
I also found the dragon character a little lame. There are three colors,(you cannot choose by the way),each color being a different temperament. I found it unchallenging to get the "nice" dragon, but even he burned furniture. He eats wildflower plants in excess, which can get very expensive and boring to keep buying.
On a positive note, I thought the zombie maid beneficial. You buy her coffin and knock anytime that you need her. She even repairs broken gadgets, but at a slower pace than the repairman. Just don't let the live maid see her!!
It does take a while to load up at the beginning. Pets Sims was better. I plan to buy Sims House Party next,(a little backwards I know) and to uninstall this one.

This last expansion pack in the Sims saga is one that kept and will keep many stuck to their pc screens for long(count me in!!). When I purchased this game along with Superstar(EP) and Unleashed(EP), I did not see it as necessary as the other two EP's in my urge of adding new items, new NPC's and other new stuff. After many months of having it laying in my shelf, I decided to install it in my pc. I became addicted to it...
The fact that now my sims could cook cakes and delicious goodies, cast charms & spells, raise dragons, marry easily, get their kid grow up(through spells), get their crush fall in love with them, and allow them to travel into a magic world made playing the sims much more attractive.
The Sims Makin' Magic does not only give you new stuff, but it changes everything. Your neighborhood, friends, house, relationships and self-sim changed to never be the same as before. Now, in orther to become the Sim-god or Sim-goddess of your neighborhood, you have to challenge to inner-magic-self.
If I had to rate this game I would give it a 4 and a half stars, but as you can see the option is not available so I will give it 4 stars(I think maxis could have made more living lots in magic town, it doesnt matter though).
The last thing i have to say is that if you own the Sims and other expansion packs, I would highly recommend adding this EP to your list, it condimments your sim-lfe with a bit of magic.
Hope you enjoy it as much as i do. If you are still not sure about it, go to different websites and et tips and walkthroughs, it helps a lot in deciding wether to purhase it or not.
N dont forget bout The sims 2, its comin in September!!

this expansion pack has installation problems. We could not install even after downloading patches, trying other computers, etc. Of 3 other people I know with this expansion pack, only one was able to get it installed properly. Wait to buy until the manufacturer works the bugs out.
