There is little doubt that this is going to be one of the top games of 2003. The December 2002 Game Informer Magazine gave this a full-length feature, and it left little doubt that this is going to be a powerhouse game. Enter the Matrix is being developed with a close collaborative effort between gaming industry and Hollywood so that they can create a game experience "as rewarding as the movie."
There will be ultra-realistic character movements with the over 4,000 motion captures performed and encoded into the game. We are promised over 200 minutes of in-game cinematics and voices from the actors of the film including Keanu Reeves (bless his heart). You can play as Niobe or Ghost, and you play along side characters from the first movie (Neo and Morpeus). Screen shots look promising with plenty of special effects. Unless the something goes terribly wrong between now and the release of this game, we can expect ONE AWESOME GAME!
Not the worst, but not the best either

I didn't think I would ever buy this game, but I did, because I got a good deal. I thought it would be the perfect compliment to The Matrix Reloaded, which really rocked. However, while the game is reminiscent to The Matrix in many ways, it falls flat on several counts.
The graphics are good, but not exactly pushing the GameCube's power to the limit. They are better than the PS2 version. The weapons, the moves, the addition of the focus-mode, really gives the game a good feel. At least we don't have to deal with compressed videos, since the GCN version is two disks. A Progressive Scan option, along with Dolby Pro Logic II and a great musical score makes it good. I'm not saying it's a bad thing playing as Niobe or Ghost, but we were looking for the A-Team (Neo, Morpheus, and Trinity). The characters' movements are a little off, and at times it can get really frustrating.
Overall, while this game is very good, it's just not the mind-blowing experience I was expecting. It is worth at least a rental, but you're all Matrix fans, so I say buy it.

First off, i get home from best buy, and pop the disk into my gamecube. It freezes up the system. After trying to get either disk to work for an hour, i relize that its not my gamecube's fault, all of my other games work. I exchange it at best buy, where they tell me that there have been numerous problems like this for all of the systems. I get home, luckily, this one works. I start the game, and i am impressed at the game's scenes exclusivley recorded for the movie. Now to the actual game. The graphics stink! Actually, if they had made it a little on the lighter side, i wouldnt have to be staring at my TV wondering where the next door is. As for the gameplay, it is very nice, and the soundtrack is great. You can execute many of the moves seen in the movies, and then some. And to my last point, you will get your moneys worth, the game is very long, spanning 2 gamecube disks. But, there are a few bugs. You can drive the hovercrafts and your character through walls, and unfortunate bug that occasionally pops up. Also, the AI is weak throughout the first half of the game, then becomes immensley tough. Overall, this is an average game, if you get it to work.
Pros-
Length- youll get your moneys worth
You can execute various matrix moves
soundtrack
Cons-
The disk froze! and im not the only one this has happened to
graphics are overly dark
ai is weak for the first half of the game
numerous bugs- you can tell that this game was rushed
The plain fact is, this is just an average game
Not what I expected

I just rented the game today and to be honest I'm not all that impressed. The graphics are good and do show the advances they've made in the videogame technology. My only real complaint is that the levels are hard to see. The first level made me crazy because it's so dark with only a green tinge every once in a while for you to see by. It took forever to find all the doors. I'm really glad I sampled the game before buying it because I don't think I'm willing to spend that much money on a game that requires squinting to see even on a big screen tv.
The kid who said Way too easy probably played it on EASY

Official Synopsis:
IN THE WAR TO SAVE ZION, WHAT PART WILL YOU PLAY?
Unparralleeled fil collaboration results in a true Matrix experience.
Exclusive film footage from the creators of the Matrix trilogy.
Battle alongside the original motion picture cast from The Matrix Reloaded.
My thoughts:
Enter The Matrix is an excellent video game for many reasons. One of those reasons is that it weaves in and out of the movie, The Matrix Reloaded. Another reason is the awesome gameplay it brings you. You can run up walls, dodge bullets in bullet time, and have a wide armistice of martial arts at your fingertips. Basically, it's all the action of The Matrix Reloaded on your Gamecube. But if you play this, and you see an Agent, then RUN. They're unbeatable. I highly reccommend this game of the year nominee. It's available on all three next-gen consoles, and if you haven't played it yet, do it. After all, THE MATRIX HAS YOU.
THIS GAME IS FRIGEN AMAZING

Hype... excitement... these were the feelings as I waited for this game to be released. The Matrix, one of the best movies of all time, completely revolutionary in cinema world. Surely the game would be just as great... right?
Enter the Matrix follows the story of Niobe, Ghost, and their operator Sparks, in an attempt to help Neo, Morpheus, Trinity and other humans defeat the machines that hold all humans captive in the fabricated reality known as the Matrix. Interesting, quite. The plot itself is great, with a nice story unfolding in a combination of computer rendered and real time cinematic sequences. Although, it does take some measure of knowledge to grasp the fullness of it... in other words, don't expect to know what anyone is talking about if you haven't seen the first Matrix movie. It will be awfully hard for someone to sit and play the game without knowing who Neo or any other major characters are.
Gameplay is excellent, controls are fairly responsive. Sometimes they do seem a bit slow, and it's weird to not be able to shoot while doing bullet dodges. The interesting thing about the game is that it really does capture the feel of the Matrix. A fight without using focus (what allows players to bend the rules of the Matrix and do insane moves) moves incredibly fast, just like someone watching an actual agent versus human fight in the Matrix would move. Focus allows players to, in essence move so fast that time itself slows... allowing more time to react and dodge bullets, etc. Some may know this as bullet-time.
Graphics... could have been better, especially in the computer rendered cinema scenes. Some of the objects and people look terrible, not crisp or anything. It doesn't seem like games take full advantage of what systems could most likely do.
From the technical view and fun view, this game could be a five star game. Yet, for some reason... the producers and scripters felt some need to throw in all kinds of language. Mild language is the warning on the box... yet after playing this game and beating it once, mild doesn't cut it. While the "F" word is not used, they certainly made good use of all the others. Also, in a scene with Niobe and Persephone where they are in her bedroom or living room, they kiss! Suggestive themes... that's another warning on the box. Now to be honest, I didn't really know what that meant... and even in my ideas, I never thought it would be that. Finally, the game doesn't really have any blood or anything like that. Characters release some sort of green energy or something when they die... Matrix coding I would assume.
Overall, as far as capturing the feel of the Matrix films and all, this game does it well. It is awfully cool to shoot someone, run up the side of the wall and flip off while shooting someone else. Great moments like that are what makes the game good. However, due the language and the suggestive themes thing, I personally would have given this game a Mature rating. Parents, others who don't like profanity or homosexuality, don't buy the game. If you must play it, rent it, it's not that difficult and doesn't take too long to beat.
Could have been better, I think if they had made it a more Everyone title it would have been great. For those who would say that gamers are maturing and that companies must keep up with maturing audiences... the ability to use profanity, etc. doesn't show maturity, ever notice how the people who we think are dumb and laugh at are those who walk around doing it?
A definite rental for fans if you want to do the moves, not really a keeper unless you skip pretty much all the cinema sequences and miss pretty much the entire plot.
Simply Excellent.

The Matrix (All three of them) were excellent movies, with the main character as NEO!! However, in this you are Ghost or Niobe, who are just as excellent. With a few cheats after you beat the game (try not to use them before the game is beaten, it takes out all of the fun), you can have the time of your real life, with unlimited focus or ammunition, or a sword, it gets extremely interesting. My only compliant is no NEO.

Anybody who tells you that this is the greatest game ever made is just plain wrong. It is good, but not great. Some issues with controls and the camera severely hinder the gameplay. The fighting system is very basic, thus making it quite repetetive. The gameplay is fun if you don't sit and play for a long time because when you get into bullet time gun fighting, Matrix fans will be in the purest state of bliss. Unfortunately, the A.I. and animations of A.I./main characters are weak. The levels, though sprawling, are filled with pointless objectives, and lots and lots of useless empty space. Trying to vary gameplay is good, but the car levels just aren't very good. They suffer from a lack of refinement. In general, this game suffers from the aforementioned. Maybe if they had not been so pressed to release this with the movie, it could have been much, much better. I will say this, though, you simply cannot have a better presentation with cut scenes written, directed, and filmed with the actual actors by the Wachowski Brothers themselves. The presentation gets a definite 10. Everything else, though, is a good C+.
