I liked this game enough. I will not down play the fact that it is as of now the best fighter on the Gamecube (that I have played). But as fighters go, it lacks a little somehting...Intuitive controls.

And this is not to say that Bloody Roar controlls poorly either. Instead, Bloody Roar controls fine once you have forced yourself to get used to the controls. One of the largest complaint? Not being able to side step without a button. Any Soul Caliber players will know that you could seemlessly move about the ring without any troubles. Bloody Roar forces you into a more 2-D game, as side stepping almost takes to much time.

Graphics: great
Sound: Darn good
Stroyline: A little weak
Controls: Just bad enought to be annoying.
Fun: Just enough to be worth picking up.

a great game!

This game is just a little bit too much like Tekken. I am a Mortal Kombat fan, a game which I believe takes skill. ... This game seems to be a button tapping game, but it is the only fighting game on Gamecube so far. Get Spiderman, Tony Hawk 3, PIKMIN!!!..., or rent some other games, before buying this one. I love a good fighting game, and in my opinion, this is just not one of those!

A real fighting game for GC owners

Throughout all its previous incarnations, Activision's flashy, fun, but not particularly well-balanced fighting franchise has always rested just below the threshold of greatness. This GameCube upgrade of Bloody Roar 3 brings the series a bit closer to the top-though if it plans to survive in a jungle filled with DOA3s and Virtua Fighter 4s, it still has some evolving left to do. Since its first PlayStation inception, Bloody Roar's game mechanics have remained pretty much the same: Fight as a human being using two simple attack buttons, and then when your Beast Meter fills up a bit, transform into a giant, ferocious Tiger, Insect, or Bunny Rabbit and whoop some [tail] using your new third Beast Attack button. It's a pretty great gimmick, supported by a solid, fun fighting engine that relies on quick close-in combos and ridiculous automatic super-special feral freakouts. The game, however, isn't all that deep, varied, or balanced: some characters are just way too good, and button mashers will often fare just as well as veterans. Even though its basic set of characters and moves are the same as in Bloody Roar 3 for the PS2, Primal Fury is still a pretty substantial upgrade: Two new boss characters have been added, certain stages have been replaced, the single-player game balance has been more finely tuned, and-above all-the graphics have been given a very impressive overhaul. Character models are far superior with better (though fewer) costumes and highly polished textures, and the arenas boast a much greater level of detail and depth. The special effects are much more special, too, and gone is the tragic jagginess that constantly plagues the PS2. But even with all the improvements, Bloody Roar can't compete with the cool factor of a game like DOA3. The arenas are just flat squares (reminiscent of Sega's Fighting Vipers series) and feature nothing even close to DOA3's ridiculous multitiered castles or nifty shifting snowfields. And while Bloody Roar's character models certainly are pretty, they still don't match the level of detail of those found in Tecmo's premier fighter. The music is mediocre-forgettable faux hard rock-and the sound effects are solid, but barely leave an impression since characters don't yell, roar, squeak, or bleat anything particularly fun or interesting. And so Bloody Roar for the GameCube remains exactly where it's always been in the fighting game kingdom food chain: just below the best and far above the worst. It's instantly fun and boasts a really strong gimmick-but it lacks the gameplay depth, balance, and attention to detail that make top fighters shine. As the only real "traditional" fighter available for the 'Cube (no, Super Smash Bros. Melee doesn't count), it works just fine for now-though it probably won't be long before you're wishing Soul Calibur 2 were here.

Okay, first of all, this is an awesome game. However, if you played Bloody Roar 3 (on the PS2) too much, then this game will have horribly low replay factor. You'll play it non-stop for maybe a day, and never play it again. It's basically a remake of BR3, except with a few new additions: new characters, and cheats! (which can all be unlocked very quickly) Other than that, it is BR3. If you haven't played BR3 much or at all, then buy this game and play it for weeks, maybe even months. (maybe) Do be wawrned: it has a relatively low replay factor. Everything is too easy to unlock. If you own or played BR3 too much, rent this game, but do not buy it. Buy VF4 (if you have PS2) But, overall, this is a great game, but unfortunately the moves are all the same: everything is the same. But, still, a good game.

The girls' bodies. (characters: alice, shina, and jenny) Their breasts are unreasonably too large! They shakes when you select the characters. (yeah, yeah, guys, stop hooting) They're like barbies and it bothers me. Otherwise, it's great- even better than mortal kombat and tekken.

... Few days ago, I brought Gamecube. Bloody Roar: Primal Fury is my first game. I'm really glad I brought the right game for the first time. Next game I'm gonna buy... hmm...Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. ^.^

I first want to say I give this game a 4 1/2. It is truly a piece of eye candy. The graphics are excellent and there is so much going on it you have to watch someone else play it to see all what's going on. I just got the game yesterday and it is going to take awhile to figure out all the different combos and specials (I'm not a great player but I love vids) As good as Soul Calibur?-No. Better than Virtua Fighter 3?-Yes. As good as Smash Bros.?? Hmmm no but definately a keeper for me.

The Biggest Thing For GameCube ever!

Bloody Roar: Primal Fury is the best game ever. I know because I have it and I can't get away from it. The 3D action and high powered fighting moves makes the game perfect. The thing I like about it is that the characters turn into beastly animals. Also in the game there are many modes you can try out. If it would be your first time playing a Bloody Roar game you should go to the training mode to get your skills up. It will probably take for a beginner a half a hour to master the game because the moves are easy to control...

Best true fighter on Gamecube so far...

This is the best, and pretty much only true fighter available for Gamecube (discounting Smash Bros as being in a different class). It resembles Dead or Alive 2, in that the characters are similarly rendered, as are the environments, some of which are multi-tiered. There are a few characters to unlock by beating certain game modes (which include arcade, team, time attack & survival), as well as a movie (cut-scene) player and some other extras.

Each character has a beast variation...for example a wolf or a giant rabbit...to which they can transform once their beast-meter starts flashing. The beast version of the character tends to be a bit bigger and tougher than the human counterpart, and has the added bonus of being able to regenerate a certain amount from the strength, or hit meter. Also, transforming in front of an opponent will knock them down and do a small amount of damage to them.

The walls of the many arenas in this game are a part of the action. Walls can be damaged and destroyed by taking direct hits, or by having characters thrown into them. On some levels, knocking an opponent through an open spot in the wall will result in a ring-out victory; in other places, it will lead to another area in the arena.

As a casual fan of fighters, I found this game to be fun and challenging, but not so challenging that it couldn't be beat with some practice. A couple of hours into the game, I had team mode beaten, and within a few more hours, I beat arcade & time attack mode. This game is a fun 2-player game, but will probably have a short shelf-life for most hardcore fighing fans, due to lack of a co-operative or story-type mode. Recommended as a rental before you buy it.
