After such monumental games like Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World, Nintendo released this incredibly sad game (They made up for that when Mario 64 came out). The graphics are so chilish that it's distracting and you can't really see what's going on! Yoshi is almost impossible to control: he can't jump high at all, and that hovering thing he does serves no purpose. Aiming with the eggs is not that easy, either. Add that to the ANNOYING crying of baby mario, and you have a horrible game that should NEVER have been re-released.
I would have enjoyed this game much more if the graphics had resembled Super Mario World. It would have been much better if baby mario was just a decoration on Yoshi's back and did not fly away and cry whenever Yoshi got hurt. It should have been like other marios, where if you get hit too many times, you die. The bubble with baby mario in it is too annoying to chase after, because the crying gives you such a headache that you can't concentrate.
I just hope that if Nintendo decides to release any new Yoshi-themed games in the future, they won't use this game as a model. It's just plain sad.
I didn't like it !

I was anxiously waiting for this game, when i played it, i didn't liked it!! It's fun i didn't like the whole thing about you protecting mario, and then he cries if the baddies get to him. Some parts are like strategically you have to figure out what to do!, I didn't liked it, but it was someewhat fun

I have all the Mario games for Gameboy Advance and decided to get Yoshi's Island to add to the collection. I ended up selling it because I didn't like it at all. Yoshi moves around to fast and it's hard to retrieve Mario when he falls off Yoshi's back. This game is frustrating and it's a huge disappointment compared to the other Mario games I've played. I don't miss "Yoshi's" island at all. I wouldn't recommend this game to anybody.
This game is great

This game is really good i thought that is was one of the best games that i have played for gameboy. It is so fun because you still have all the original enimies as the first supermario bros but there are also some different ones.
Cute enough, but I just can't get into it

Super Mario World 2: Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island. Phew! How about that for a title. I admit I found it a bit confusing putting these Mario Advance games in order but I think I've figured it out now. You gotta admit it's a bit convoluted.
This game is a simple 2D platformer like most of the retro Mario games only it has four more levels than the SNES version released in 1995. It's got easy-going gameplay in the typical Super Mario style, gorgeous graphics, generic sounds and not much to keep me interested. Yoshi IS impossibly cute but even for a guy who likes cute stuff this game is just TOO childish.

First off I'd like to say I've been playing Super Mario World, Yoshi's island just about as long as I can remember. I still love it! I won't review the game all that much, just the port.
The arcade game is just awesome! And the addition of Yoshi Story voices are cool too. The music is awesome, same as the snes version (a few of the tracks instrumentation are different due to the differences in the GBA synthesizer vs. the snes') However the sound is alil' low quality because of the smaller cartridge, but if you put it in the gameboy player for gamecube you don't notice.
Now you might wonder why I rated it 3 stars overall. It's because of the GBA buttons. I'm used to snes so it gets tedious with those small buttons, making it even more difficult.
graphics:10/10
sound:9/10
Difficult: very ( I'm 12 and I just beat it for the 1st time about a week ago. It's alot easier once you beat it for the first time, but still difficult)
Control:6/10
Because of the small screen and buttons I still usually just play the snes version, and play this version if I'm in the car for a long time or traveling. Pick it up if you travel alot, otherwise, stick with the snes.
One of the best games ever!

I remember, back about seven years ago when this game originally came out on SNES, my friend bought it. Every day we would go over to his house after scool and take turns playing levels until we eventually beat the game. The game storyline is basically that baby koopa has taken Luigi hostage, and Yoshi carries Mario around while making his way to Koopa's castle to save Luigi. The game takes a while to beat, so this wont be one of those games where you buy it and then wish you hadn't blown all that money for two days. This has been my favorite of all the Mario games ever made and i give it a 5 star rating for the complete fun you get out of it!

The game is Yoshi's Island for gameboy advance. If you don't know what a yoshi is they are dinosaur-like creatures.Yoshi's can be of many different colors.
You might have seen yoshi on other games: Mario Party, Mario Party 2, and Mario Party 3 have yoshi in them. There are other games too. Most video game fans must know what a yoshi is.
I liked the game very much. It was exciting and adventarous. I liked making eggs. To make eggs you eat a enemy and poop out an egg. You can only have six eggs at a time. You throw eggs at enemys and mystery clouds.
As I said the game is great. There's only thing I would
improve and that is the number of battle castles should increase from 2 to 4 to make it more exciting.
If you like video games play it. I wasn't sure at first, but when I started playing I felt that I was in a different world.
I strongly recommend to all you game fans.... well enjoy.

What a great game. This is THE BEST YOSHI GAME I've ever played, and THE BEST GBA GAME I've ever played. You play as Yoshi and you guide him and Baby Mario through an array of levels, much like an older Mario side scroller. Everything about this game is great, except some levels you MAY find a little hard, or repetetive, but for me this game was almost perfect.
GRAPHICS: 5/5. Of course the graphics deserve a 5/5. It's a YOSHI game, you can't expect a 3D game. The cartoony graphics fit well in this game, and the backgrounds are very nice.
SOUND: 4.5/5. The sound is very good. Most levels, and all worlds have different music, it's just that some people may find it annoying.
CONTROL: 5/5. Can't be any easier. B to pick someone up with your tongue, press down when he's in, you got an egg. To throw an egg press R, wait for where you want to press, and press R again.
FUN: 5/5 Very good game, although a bit repetetive, it deserves a rental or a buy anyways for sure.

This game is really fun. It can definently become addictive. The only thing that I don't like about it is, is that noise Yoshi makes when he throws an egg or when he tries to hover. In the version for Super Nintendo it sounds a lot better and certainly more mature! Overall this is pretty much one of the best games i've ever played.
