Yoshi's Island is by far the funnest game I've ever played! It's fairly easy but takes a while to beat. I would definetly recommend this game for kids new to Gameboy Advance. If you enjoy harder games then this would probably not be a good game for you. The objective of the game is to get baby Mario to his twin brother, Luigi. Yoshi has a very small variety of moves but, you can do a lot with them. The worlds are really intresting and you won't find 2 that are very much a like. There are lots of secrets and hidden tunnels to explore, even hidden Mini Games. This game has an intresting feature that I enjoyed which is sleep mode. You can put your Game Boy on this mode as long as you like and go away for as much time as needed without wasting any battery power. The graphics are pretty good and the music is awesome. It's really good for ages 8 and up! The only thing I didn't like about this game was when you get hit by an enemy, baby Mario gets traped in a bubble and crys. I can barely stand the crying after awhile! THIS IS A FUN, FUN, GAME!

Hi, I'm Aaron. I beat this game only 2 weeks ago. I cannot say that the game is the best [ since they hide some stuff like in "Harry the Hedgehog's cave." You need to jump up on the trees and follow the path to a secret entrance that wil l get you the key and a special flower ], but you can say the moves, the story , the bosses, the way you keep track of Baby-Mario, and the realistic pictures [ like the bubbling lava ] make this game great. My favorite yoshi is Green-Yoshi [ they're named by thier color ]. My favorite boss is Prince Froggy. Kamek and Browser are funny. I thin k this game is great because it's old. It was originally for the Super NES. I think that raps my review up.
Unexpectedly great

I can't remember why I bought this game... Probably because I'd just gotten a GBA and felt like reliving old memories of Mario. Whatever the reason, I'm extremely glad I bought it, this game truly is A LOT of fun! I really wasn't expecting it to be this enjoyable, but it is!
First of all, it's really cute. The plot is as follows: Mario and Luigi are babies being delivered by a stork, when said stork is attacked by Baby Bowser's henchmen, a Koopa magician having read into the future and seen that the two brothers will mean trouble for Bowser. Luigi gets kidnapped by the henchmen, but Mario falls safely into the land of the Yoshis, who decide to help him. You play as the Yoshis, and your task is to carry Baby Mario on your bask and take him to Bowser's castle, to rescue Luigi. Your fighting techniques are swallowing your enemies and turning them into eggs, which you can then throw at other enemies. Whenever you get hit by an enemy, you lose Baby Mario, and have a minimum of ten seconds to retrieve him.
The graphics on this game are perfect, the colours are lovely and the characters are very well-defined. The sounds are great too; I know this may sound insignificant, but Yoshi makes these adorable noises whenever he does something, and I think it really contributes to the game's quality (no, it doesn't get annoying).
But, best of all, this is one of those games you just don't get tired of. You can finish it, put it away for a couple of weeks, and then feel like starting it all over again. Some levels are quite difficult, others are a breeze, but it all depends on how you play the game: there are various items you can collect along the way, you can choose not to look for them, but taking the trouble to find them really adds to the challenge.
In a nutshell, buy this game, you won't regret it!

My sister and I have this game and totally love it!!! It is sort of strange how mario and luigi are babies but it grows on you! I am at the last level called Bowser's castle and it seems unbeatable! It is a really fun game that will have you engaged for hours! Perfect for traveling! Something good about this game is that you can revisit any level you want anytime and improve your score! We definentally recommend this game!
Hint: To practice bonus games you need to be in world 4 or 5, press select while your cursor is on a stage and press these buttons in order "L-L-B-A-R" and you should come to another screen with many choices for mini games! A great way to get free items!!
Have fun gaming,

I was surprised when they made this game into a gameboy game. It was origionally on the super nintendo, and it was one of my favorites, and I was surprised when I saw it remade in gameboy form. This is still a favorite game of mine, and I know every level and secrets by heart almost, and I'm still not tired of it. I like the art and graphics, and the gameplay is easy enough, but I hope everyone enjoyes this remake.
Excellent classic.

Picked this up today for a trip in the next few days- Don't freak out that I don't know anything about the game; I had the SNES version. This is an excellent remake of the SNES classic, with a few tweaks. I'll begin witht he bad, and end with the good.
One of the most annoying tweaks that I noticed was due to the slightly lower resolution of the GBA as compared to the TV output on the SNES- it causes some quirky camera movement, and I frequently find myself jumping into things that were in view on the SNES but not on the GBA. It's something I can get used to, sure, but it's going to be a pain until I can get used to it.
Another tweak that loses some of the feel of the SNES version would be the voices and replacement of Yoshi's sounds with "Yoshi!" "Hnggrrrhh!" and other voice acting. I personally feel it would have been better to leave those as it was. It's most annoying when Yoshi is pushing a chomp rock- It always catches me off guard. Other sounds were a bit hollow, such as the new shy guy sounds (jumping out of the tubes) and the sparkles that Kamek drops down. The old ones complemented the art style (talked about below) seen in the original, but these new sounds don't quite do it.
On the brighter side of things, I do feel that the way the controls are implemented on the GBA was very adequate, though I periodically find myself moving to hit the "A" button on an SNES controller when there is none.
Another nice thing is that the bonus challenge is opened up at a lower point threshold- no longer do you have to have all 100 points on each level to get this one- just 700. However, to get the bonus STAGES, such as "Poochy Aint Stupid" (World 1 bonus stage),you still have to get all 800, which is definitely a good thing to retain the challenge.
As stated in countless other reviews, the graphics are excellent. Just as ont he SNES, this game features a thick outlined, hand drawn feel to the entire game, and as a pixel artist, I must say it's a fun and effective style to work with. It captures the audience's eye without a need to be flashy and perfectionist like many games today. Very unique.
The music in the game is very good as well, covering a range of styles, and they easily impress themselves in one's mind. Some ones that stand out are the "Big Bad Baby Bowser" and "Hop! Hop! Donut Lifts!". Of course, these aren't all, there are many great tunes in this game that will ring a bell if you ever hear them at random in the future.
All this rambling aside, this is a great game. I'd recommend it to anyone, and since it's now a Player's Choice game, it's cheaper than it was before.
Cool dino gives Mario another timeless game....

When I first played this game, I had no idea what was going on. I never had a chance of playing this on the SNES, so the whole shooting-enemies-with-eggs thing was obvilious to my standards. Then after a few months, I started playing it again, and again, and again. This adventure is right on target with some of Mario's past games like Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins and the classic Super Mario Bros. 3 which is also being re-released for the GBA. If any of you remember "Alfred Chicken" for the GB, you can see where that game got a lot of its ideas from.
The backgrounds are simply beautiful. Yoshi may have limited controls, but just enough some of the most innovative world designs ever created for a 2-D game. Once again, 2-D lives on through retrospect.
You gotta get this game! Yoshi's Island rocks the GBA!
