After playing this game for the Super Nintendo, I was very pleased to find its later release on the Game Boy Advance. I have spent more hours on this game in the past nine months than any other game for my GBA. After quickly beating the game, there are many continuing challenges such as earning bonus levels. There are 12 bonus levels and 6 bonus sub-games. This game is great, as a revamped classic from the snes, I'd have to say that I love playing it, and it never gets old!
SUPERB!!!!!!!

thats the only word that can describe it, superb. yoshi's island is an incredably original title that represents the absolute best of what platformers can offer. some say its a port from the snes but this game looks and feels fresh. after the koopas kidnap baby luigi, while baby mario escapes, you'll guide Yoshi and baby Mario through six worlds, each with eight stages and numerous secrets and minigames, in your quest to bring the brothers back together, using all means necessary including running, flutter jumping, tounge sticking, throwing eggs, butt stomping, morphing.......the gameplay is too amazing to fully describe and is only rivaled by stellar graphics and detailed, in depth sound. this i can safely say is the best gba game out there so far and should be in everyones collection!

Possibly the best game on the GBA to date, Yoshi's Island is a platforming dream. Originally one of the last original Super NES games (and one of the best), Yoshi's Island finds you playing as the loveable long tongued dinosaur as you escort baby Mario through a number of huge levels. This is platforming at it's most excellent with some of the most unforgettable enemies and areas ever designed for a game of this type. Nintendo upped the ante for everything they introuced in Super Mario World and took a different turn on the tried but true physics of past Mario games, giving the game a different dynamic than that a longtime Mario fan would expect. The graphics and animation are awe-inspiring to this day, and the level design is the best you'll ever find in a 2-D side scroller. Even in these days of next-gen console gaming with uber-3-D graphics and complicated control schemes, sometimes it's just better to get back to the basics. Yoshi's Island is essential to every GBA owner's library, and even if you don't own a GBA but own a DS, this is essential as well.
A classic reborn!

I played this game in 1995 and it STILL has the brilliant graphics and great levels it did in 1995! There are also 6 brand new levels invented just for Gameboy Advance called "secret levels" that appear after you beat the game (they are extremley hard). So even if you played the original game there will be something new for you! In all, there are 60 LEVELS and 12 bonus/item games! This is definitely the greatest Gameboy Advance Game ever made!
i love it,love it ,love it !!!!!!!!!!

i love this GBA game . its way better than some of the other Mario games ive played . what i like most about it is that at the end of each level Yoshi changes colors . the only let down i can see is that the levels are harder than the bosses . (at first the levels are easy but they get harder.) if youve liked Mario in the past you'll get a kick out of seeing Mario as a baby. reccomended !!!!!!!!!!!!
STILL a classic game by today's standards!

Even though I like the more "modern" Nintendo games (for the DS in particular), Yoshi's Island stands out in the crowd as one game that you can play and enjoy. The colorful graphics and catchy music will have you playing "just one more" game before powering down for the evening. I had the opportunity to pick this game up again, and I am now glad that I did. It has all the pastel colors that lured me to it in the first place, and very responsive controls as well. Here's a breakdown below:
Graphics: 10/10
Control: 10/10
Music: 10/10
Sound Effects: 10/10
General Score: 10/10
I could find no real faults for this game, as it can be picked up by anyone and played. The bonus Mario Bros. game is a welcome addition to those that have played this before, and might attract new gamers as well. It's reasonably priced, and could round out your DS library nicely. Enjoy an old classic today.
