This game is GREAT! And trust me, I'm not eaisily convinced of a great game, especially on a hand held. The best part about this game is that it uses a 3D graphics engine! No more of that stupid side scrolling skateboarding for the handhelds, this time it's like the PS1. Well, you can't expect it to be as good as the PS1. The view can make things a little confusing when tring to get things in the air...you have to look for their shadows, and the control takes a little getting used to, even if you played Tony Hawk to death on the counsel versions. But like the other games, you'll NEVER get tired of this game. It's addicting! When you're bored on a long plane ride or car trip, just take out your GBA, and get ready to grind some rails!
Best GBA game yet

While it's not as good graphics as the console versions (what do you expect) it is a VERY impressive GBA title because of its 3d graphics and lush colors. also Because it's a fun game that never gets old since you can always try to score more points. And don't let people tell you it's hard to play- I was scoring 20 thousand point combos on this game by the time my 5 day rental was over, and I've never played a Tony Hawk game before in my life! Overall, this is a great game. Try to find a bad review on it. You can't, can you. There's a reason there aren't any.

Wow! I can't stop giving this game enough praise. First thing you notice when playing this game, are the graphics. They are so incredible, I swear that sometimes I forget I'm playing a portable system. Second, the gameplay, is VERY good. It isn't like the other Tony games where you get a view from behind the skater, it is more of an overhead view, which works to your advantage once your skills improve in the game. Some of the downsides are that there is no multiplayer of create a park or skater. The GBA is extremely cabale of having those three options. Remember, this was one of the first games for the GBA, but now, once developers learn more about the system and its potential, you can only imagine what kind of features Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3 is going to feature, which I think, is scheduled for a late November release on the GBA; after home consoles like Playsation2,Xbox, and Gamecube get it.

I've had my gameboy advance since it came out and this game is ok but it gets kind of boring over a while. If you dont really understand skateboarding, i suggest not to get this game. I enjoyed it alot, but I have already beaten it about five times. I hope this review has been helpful to you.
Great game, but frustrating at times.

I am not a real big fan of extreme sports or extreme sports games, but I have enjoyed Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. This is one of the best games graphic-wise right now for the Game Boy Advance. The graphics look very close to the original Tony Hawk game for Playstation. It is also very fun to play. The game has many modes, including career (where you pick any one of 15 skaters and do many tasks and enter competitions, which earn you money so that you can buy new skating areas, boards, skill points, and tricks, Free skate (the mode without a time limit, just go out and practice your moves), and the single session mode (the mode where you see how many points you can rack up in 2 minutes). Every game has its downsides, and this game is no exception. Because of the 3/4 camera angle it is sometimes hard to judge where to jump in order to get onto a pole to grind it, or grab an item you need to get in order to pass a task. Some of the tasks you have to preform can also be quite hard. This can lead to frustration when you have to attempt to pass a task for the 20th time. The game takes awhile to get the hang of, but if you've played a Tony Hawk game for any other game system you should have no problem getting the hang of it. I would not recommend it for any younger kids, as they might have a harder time figuring out the game. One example of this is, since I don't follow skateboarding, some of the tasks I had to complete were confusing to me, such as the task that told me I had to 5-0 the big rail in one of the levels I was skating in. I had to research what a 5-0 was and how to do it, before I was able to complete the task. Any kids 12 or over should have no problem with it though, especially those who follow skateboarding. This game is perfect for anyone who enjoys extreme sports games. Its by far the best skateboarding game on the market right now for the Game Boy Advance.
Tony Hawk is still the best game

This game is awsome. If you have money buy this game. It does not have the create a skater or make your own course but it is still a good game. The camra angle you have to get use to. The music is good but it is not like the other music in the other Tony Hawks. The game has great graphics. So go out and buy the best launch title game on gameboy advance Tony Hawk 2.
Great Game

This was by far the best game that is out so far for the GBA. The graphics are superb, showing the 3d powers of the Game Boy ADvance. The nearly endless possibilities of scores and creative game design adds to this games graphics, making it almost perfect. The variety and scoring of tricks makes this game very complicated, where strategy is very much a factor. The little "gaps" are very interesting also, just a little of the secrets in the game.
I was amazed when i first saw the graphics of this game. It made me want to go out and get it immedietly. It is 3d, and the perfect example of what the GBA can do.The physics are great, with the complication of players flying all around. One problem is the perspective, which never changes un less you do a special trick, and can create some problems. The game design is great, with free skate, single session, and career the choices for the different modes. In career, you go to different cities and skate around parks collecting money as you complete objectives, like grinding difficult pipes or collecting items on the course. You can also enter competitions to win medals.
The scoring in this game can be very complicated, which can be confusing. You get points for each trick, but in combos your score gets multiplied, so a good grind/trick/grind can be very affective. This makes the game very fun, trying for the highest score. It also creates a factor requiring strategy.
The secrets in this game can be very interesting. You can unlock an extra course at the end of the game. You get something special when you get all the gaps in the game. Gaps are special tricks (ie, going up on one vert ramp and coming down on another) that can create many more points for combos.
The music in this game is also ok. It features songs from different bands, and the soundtrack can be bought online. It also "pumps you up", and can stick in your head.
Overall, this game is definitly the best launch title GBA game. With great graphics, game play, secrets, score complication, and music, this game is perfect.

Hand held games are always a little scary to buy...you are never quite sure what you are going to get in such a small package. Despite what Activision threw at us with the GBC version of the Hawk series (ouch) they managed to pull it off for the Advance.
Graphics--well done; the skaters look like people instead of..well, whatever...
Controls--solid; they take awhile to figure out, but once you get it, its all good
Playability--once again, well done...my only problem is with the the depth-perception in certain areas on the game. sometimes you think you are on target to land on a rail in order to grind it, when in reality you fly right by it and hit a wall.
sound--this is a weak area; the sound is pretty bad and makes you adjust your hardware if you smell where i'm comin from

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (THPS2) for Game Boy Advanced is a GREAT game. It has fluid animation, great graphics, and the controls are easy to understand. I've played THPS on the PlayStation and the Nintendo 64, and THPS2 on the PlayStation, Dreamcast, the PC, and now the GameBoy Advanced.
There are a few problems, the isometric view makes it a little bit harder to judge distances. The sound, while not that bad, sounded a bit fuzzy. But thats all. A great game. There is no multiplayer, which was a great feature of the console versions.
Graphics: Great Fluid Animation, Backgrounds are detailed. Isometric view can be hard. 9/10
Sound: Here, there are some problems, but its still great. 7/10
Gameplay: Controls take a bit of getting used to, which took me about 5 munutes. 8/10
OVERALL SCORE: 24/30 ---> 80%
