The BEST FIFA Game EVER!!

I got this game for xmas, and altho it's a lot harder than my 2002 FIFA WC game, once you take the time to practise and learn the off-the-ball feature, it's worth the wait!! I spent 4 hrs playing it one nite, and it was the most exciting game ever!!

I really enjoy the realistic graphics (Okay, they still need improvement, but they're better than on 2002 FIFA WC)

Awesome game, real teams, real commentary, and your chance to play as some of the world's best footballers!! What more can I say? Go get it today!!

the latest in an amazing series

EA promised that while FIFA 2004 would be easier to pick up and play than ever before, the game would also offer extra depth for players looking for a lasting challenge. With the game's new career mode going a long way to achieving this. Everything EA has promised has arrived with even more!

The graphics have been improved considerably from Fifa 2003. With more players that look more realistic and with added stadiums the graphics really is a great bonus in this game. Built in to the crowd are co-ordinating team and country flags that add to the realism.

With all of the club teams, accurate uniforms are imperative. There are championship stars, current sponsors, patches and captain's armbands all added to the players shirts and are easy to spot, you really feel like you are watching the game at the weekend!

The soundtrack for the game has been re-vamped with lots of hits from around the world. The UK hits are easily recognizable. Again the commentary during the matches is done by Ally McCoist and John Motson. I've only had the game for a week or so and already their comments are getting boring. Their reactions to some movements on the pitch is sluggish. Other times their phrases are just out of context.

These niggingly little things spoil the play after a while and you find yourself during down the volume.

The major addition to the 'FIFA' series this year is the inclusion of the 'Off-the-Ball' system. Designed to give player's greater freedom for player runs into space, the system works by holding onto the Left shoulder button and switching between three different players. By using the right analogue stick, players can then make this player run into space and slot a pass through to him - well in theory. You see as with many of the new techniques introduced over the years in the 'FIFA' franchise, the 'Off the Ball' system merely confuses matters as it's too hard to keep a check of your player on the ball and the one off it at the same time; however with practice I have started to use the move to my advantage. It's another nice challenge that is built into the game to improve the enjoyment of the overall game.

In terms of an actual game there's a hell of a lot on offer. The game offers an extensive Career Mode for single players, which sees you taking on virtually any club in the world and becoming their Player Manager. In this role you must select the correct training to undertake each week, secure new signings and sell off players whilst also playing the game at the end of every week. It's an excellent feature that provides more then enough challenge to `Pro Evos' Master League mode, and will certainly keep players entertained for months to come.

Away from this mode are the standard features that let you compete in various competitions, whilst it's also possible to take the game online and play against others or import your team from EA's `Total Club Manager' titles. There is also that added Practice mode that allows you to perfect your set pieces, your corners or just practice using the new controls that Fifa 2004 offers.

Overall I am very impressed with the game. I found it extremely hard to work with the new controls and different movements, graphics of the game as I was used to the Fifa 2003 game.

I really like the added game modes, the added players, the new stadiums and the new soundtrack. At the moment I am currently the manager of Glasgow Rangers in the Career mode, I am trying to make them the best team available, it's a hard task trying to manage the players, the training and then actually playing the game at the end of the week. I think this new feature of the game will give me and countless others hours of fun for the coming months.

GRRRRREAT!!!!!!

EA Sports has made the best, most realistic soccer game to date. Everything is improved from 2003. OFF the Ball control takes some getting use to, but once you master it, it makes for more enjoyable gameplay. The pace of the game has slowed down. I suppose in order to compensate for all the new in game features. I think it really enhances the game though. Now you really can strategize and plan and execute your set pieces better. You can always turn up the speed in the options menu if it bother you that much. Goal and corner kicks are improved as well. Now focusing more on controling the players on the pitch instead of the kicker. The practice mode is deffinetly a welcome addition to let you practice all the new features. New managment mode is very nice and sure to keep you playing for months down the line.

Music is good with a nice mix of popular music from around the world. The sound effects are improved with more active crowds and players chattering on the pitch in thier own language. Commentating is right on track with accurate play by play comments. It's great to see the addition of the spanish commentating as well. Graphics are nice and smooth. You can actually destinguish betweeen the diffent players on the pitch without having the player names under them! VERY realistic. Stadiums look near perfect.

If you though the past FIFA's were too "Arcade-like", you'll be pleased to find a much better more realistic experience with 2004. Although Fifa doesnt have the "emotion" of Winning Eleven (another awsome soccer game) what FIFA 2004 does give you is a true authentic on-the-field play experience that anyone who actually plays the sport will really appreciate.

>>AS A SIDE NOTE:<< I think the reason alot of soccer fans hate the FIFA series is because it's put out by an american company and we all know america is not at all a soccer country. Actually the U.S.A. SUCKS at soccer!! Never the less, EA does do a good job with the series.

WHAT THE HELL ARE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT !!!

In another attempt for EA to make a hit with the soccer fans, FIFA 2004 hits the target, but misses the bulls eye. First things first, the gameplay is slow. At first this bothered me and I hated the game. After playing for awhile I realized that the gameplay has to be slow in order to take full advantage of "Of the Ball Control." Which is a great improvement to the game. The atmosphere and graphics are amazing in this game. Great job EA. Another improvement that hits the target is the Career Mode. Career Mode has always been NEEDED in sports games, yet EA doesn't give its all. The career mode is only for five years, hardly any time to make a weak team great. EA NEEDS to make its soccer career mode a combination of NCAA 2004 and Owner Mode in Madden 2004. That would be the best for soccer. EA should attempt to refine how soccer players play. Not always does someone attempt to tackle and win the ball, or where is the dancin that so many greats the world over have mastered. An 100 percent effort in Freestyle for soccer would be great too. Overall this is a good game. Get used to Off The Ball Control before you yell or throw the controls cause the game is to slow. Enjoy the sights, sounds, and awesome goal celebrations.

EA has done it again! Excellent game!Besides its realistic game play, the players are identical in real life. The most amazing feature is the off ball control which enables you to control a player that does not have the ball. Another great new feature is the practice mode, which teaches you the basics of the game and helps you learn how to master the game. One feature I miss from previous ea fifa games, is the tournament mode, which allowed you to create tournaments. This is a feature that was obviously missed and that users wanted to see in fifa 2004. Besides this, the game is absolutely amazing. THIS IS A MUST BUY IF YOU ARE A SOCCER FREAK. You will love it, specially if you are very much into european soccer. I also miss the world cup qualifier included in fifa 2002. Another thing i like is the ability of creating a team and taking it from 2nd or even 3d division, up to 1st division and making it the best team ever. I like the title screen and the music is AWESOME! YOU NEED TO BUY THIS GAME!

Very good, but not enough international teams

Fifa 2004 has definitely improved since its tainted 2003 version. In this one, the focus seems to be on club activity as opposed to national teams. I've always been more interested in club soccer, so this game suits me fine. But for someone who is more interested in managing your own national side, well, this might not be the game for you.

In terms of gameplay and graphics, both are top-notch. Controlling your players off of the ball is admittedly tough to get the hang of at first, but it's adds a new dimension to the game. The graphics are truly splendid, and the players' faces are alarmingly accurate.

Overall, I'd rate this game 4/5. It would have been nice to see more international teams and more competitions to the fold, but generally, I think most will find this game quite acceptable.

very bad game

I have been a fifa player since 98 and must say without a doubt that this is the worst version yet. The controls are so slow I thought there was something wrong with the game. The players are not responsive as in 03. The crowds are great, the graphics are cool, practice mode is long over do. I bought this game on blind faith because ea has never let me down. I am very disappointed with this version and am getting rid of it ASAP. I was really trying to like it but couldn't. It's like they rushed it out without proper testing. There is no flow to the game, the players seem like they are stuck in mud. Don't waste your money on this game, 2003 is still the best version yet.
