I really enjoyed this game. It gives everyone in the family a chance to play. My 6 year old has a hard time keeping up with guitar hero, but loves to sing so we put her on vocals and then she isn't just left out to sit and watch while everyone else plays.
Also I am looking forward to upgrading to a PS3 and like the fact that all the insturments are going to be compatable with a PS3. We looked at jsut buying drums because we have two guitar hero guitars, but you must use a controller to work the vocal part so we wouldn't have been able to have two guitars as well as vocals and drums.
Overall a good family fun game.
Awesome!

This is a fantastically amazing game. I can finally fulfill my secret dream of being a drummer (on something more than my steering wheel)! The guitar and microphone are great features as well. The only reason I gave the overall review 4 stars is that the brand new disc has been skipping on certain songs. Our PS2 is old and we assumed a tiny scratch was causing this, so we ordered another brand new disc. The newest new disc also skips on the same songs, so we have yet to figure out if it's the system or some sort of manufacturing flaw in the discs. Besides that technicality, I absolutely love the game.
A little work but fun.................

I have a PS2 and this game is awesome. The only thing that can be a little frustrating is getting the drums and guitar calibrated correctly. I have an LCD Sony TV so I chose the LCD calibrate option. Just because you choose what type of TV you have doesn't mean it works now. You should manually calibrate it. That's what I had to do several times before I got it right. Once you find the right setting you are done and you can fully enjoy it everytime you play. Great game to play with groups of people or a solo tour. The wireless guitar works great. Bottom line is this is a great game for the price. I would buy a real drum throne though. A low couch can be uncomfortable with the drums.
Rockstar for PS2.

I bought this for my wife for her birthday, and set it up in the den. Even though I have never played it, I haven't seen my wife come out since. Awesome product. Well worth the money.
Great, great game, but could use much improvement

I didn't pay much attention to Guitar Hero, then Rock Band came out and I ignored it as well. I didn't even have a system that could play it anyways. My girlfriend told me about how good Rock Band was and a week later she got it. I went over to play it and I was blown away. I actually ran out and bought a new PS2 and Rock Band so I could play it. Having said that, Rock Band is an innovative and extremely fun game, especially if you have others with you to join the act. Everything is on point. The song selection is great, there are a few tunes that I really didn't feel should have been in the game (Sabotage, Wave of Mutilation) but it didn't ruin the experience. After having played the game for a few weeks, beyond all the pros that make Rock Band a great game, I found a few issues with it. First issue is that they give you no "hidden" songs to unlock, everything is in your face and once you unlock all the songs you can't unlock anymore. They should have really put a few bonus songs to unlock when you complete certain modes in the game, like reward you for getting X amount of 5 star performances on solo guitar or whichever band position you play. Another issue I have with the game is the HUGE gap between difficulty settings. For example, I might be able to play every medium song in the game quite well, but a few dozen songs into hard mode it becomes almost impossible for me to play some songs. Take this for instance, I finished the song Black Hole Sun with 5 stars on Hard mode, and only a few songs away from it is the track Suffragette City which I couldn't even get 40 seconds into without losing. The gap between those two songs in terms of difficulty is massive to say the least. I'm sure many of you can relate to this, unless you play this game 10 hours a day and laugh at anyone who misses a note on expert. The drums are great but the stick quality is sub-par and easily gives the user's hands blisters. I can't say enough about this game when it comes to fun factor and playability, they really hit the nail on the head with Rock Band. Even if you're not the biggest fan of rock/punk/alternative you might still get a good kick out of this game. I can only imagine how many people RB influenced to go out and pick up a real instrument. This was a boost the music world really needed.

Rock band is a lot of fun. We wish the instructions would have said how to add a 4th person since it says 1-4 players. The song selections were a bit odd. We are big fans of Guitar Hero and these songs do not quite measure up to Guitar Hero's choices. Since we have ages 6 to adult we were pleased to see that everyone can play a part in the 'band'. Good family fun.
Not as great as the PS3/360 version but still a blast!

It's a great game. The tour mode is a lot cooler on the PS3 and 360, but in the end it's really still the same game. My only complaint about the game is that the EASY setting on drums shouldn't use the bass pedal as much.
All of our friends love to come over and play.

My teens (13-17) and their friends are having a great time. We've had this for a few weeks now and they play it on a pretty regular basis. We only had Guitar Hero before, and they love the fact that 4 of them can play at once. I'm really glad I got this.
Component Cables required!

I wanted to write this review as a warning: I bought Rock band for the PS2 and the lyrics for the singer were unreadable on our HDTV. They are tiny and extremely blurry. We had to go out and buy component cables (PS2-19.99, PS3 uses same video cables) as the composite cable we had been using for years made this portion of the game unplayable. Previously, I'd had no problem reading text in any game. The lyrics are still tiny, but sharp enough to read from a reasonable distance.
The rest of the game is as expected, although bass is extremely easy. Recommended, especially at the current [...]$ price point. Note that the instruments work with the PS3, so they will be useful in the future for those like myself who plan on upgrading only when prices are more affordable.
Awesome game for the entire family!!

I have a 12 and 11 year old boy and they play this game for hours. Graffics are pretty good and the wireless guitar works really well. We are able to hook up the wireless guitar from our Guitar Hero 3 game and it works really well together. I am really happy with my purchase and only paid $99 for it at Amazon. Best price out there!!
