Rock Band ROCKS!

Rock Band is the best game ever made. I love that I can my guitar from Guitar Hero works with this game for even more fun.

Playstation 2 CD Compatibility

Rock Band Special Edition contains a 2 sided CD. My Playstation 2 was one of the early versions and it would not play two sided CDs. In order to play Rock Band, I had to purchase the latest Playstation 2. You need to make sure your Playstation will accomodate 2 sided CDs before you buy Rock Band.

Now that we have the latest Playstation we are enjoying Rock Band Special Edition.

Just a word of warning. I purchased this bundle yesterday from another retailer(Target). Got it home, set everything up, inserted the game, and nothing. I investigated to make sure it was not something on my end, but my console reads everything else I have fine.

So my next step was to try to contact EA customer support. After I finally got a live person, I found out that EA is suing Sony over this game because apparently the game is on something called a multi-layed disk. Which Sony told EA all PS2's would be able to read. Well EA is aware of at least 7 different production runs of PS2's that have been reported as not being able to read the game. My recourse? Not EA's problem. Call Sony, or take the game back and try to get my money back. I'm going to try to call Sony today and see where I get, mostly because I don't want to repack everything. I'll update with what happens.

But for now, if you have a PS2, I recommend checking into this by contacting Sony to make sure your system will read these multi-layered disks before you waste your time.

Plenty of fun, but pretty much Guitar Hero with drums and a mic.

As addictive as all of the Guitar Hero games put together, Rock Band is a lot of fun and of course great when more than one person wants to rock. However, this game's innovation with regards to the PS2 version is limited to the simple addition of drums and a microphone. Knowing of the customizations available on the PS3 and XBox versions, this version tends to disappoint. However, if one has a PS2 and can't afford to purchase another platform in addition to the Rock Band bundle, this game does satisfy somewhat.

As far as I know, the PS2 peripherals are compatible with the PS3. So for those who can't wait for Rock Band and a PS3, get Rock Band first and then save up for your PS3. Hopefully by that time the PS3 game catalogue will also have expanded to make the platform worthwhile.

Ok, I'll make this quick. It's a glorified version of Guitar Hero. Yes, the drums are cool, the mic is cool, 2 guitars are cool. Great party game. Unfortunately, only 58 songs. False advertising on that you can't make you own characters. Great party game, but seeing as you can't do the online thing and get any more songs or really customize or unlock anything, go buy a 360 or ps3 if you want to get the most out of it. Or just buy the game itself to rock out with guitars you already have (gh guitars work with this pretty well). So if it wasn't false advertising on what you could do with the ps2 version, it would get a 5 star because then you wouldn't go in with false expectations.

(and before anyone blasts me for posting this review, it's a great game, but not worth the big money that it's going for. And I like customizing things and unlocking things as well as playing the songs, and there's not that many songs)

I purchased this after trying it out in Walmart. I absolutely hate video games and limit my kids time to twice a week. BUT ROCK BAND is so fun and as well as an encouragement to work together at something, I let them play it daily. The kids (9 to 15) want to play all the time and readily clean their roooms and get along with each other to be able to play. I enjoy the drums and the guitar. I would recommend the tutorials for novice gamers like me (40 plus). The only downer are the lyrics to some of the songs or the premise of the songs aren't the best for children. I've found if mine just play the drums and the guitar they are concentrating so hard to hit each note, they barely notice the words. The other thing to do is get the song list and find the lyrics so that you can limit or eliminate those choices. All in all a fun family activity that will leave you cheering when you finally finish a song or score more points or rise to a new level of play.

Our whole family was very excited to finally get the game and we love it. We had a problem with the guitar that came with it but called customer service number and they sent another one out all we had to do was put the defected one in the same box and send back to them postage paid. It is great for the whole family. It was well worth the wait. If you have guitar hero then you will love this.

Rock Band Special Edition Playstation 2Excellent Service and product. My 15 year old son has been saving up for Rockband and when we found on Amazon for $[...] less than store in city, he couldn't wait to get it. He is very satisfied with the product and the fast delivery. I am very impressed with the quality of service from Amazon.

We bought Rock Band for the PS2 at Hastings and it would give a disc read error. When I checked online I found that happens frequently. I would say that you need to be very careful to only buy from a reputable business that will allow you to return this product if it doesn't work because I talked to both EA and Sony with absolutely no resolution.

The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star, was b/c I played it on PS3 and there were a few more options available, such as making own characters and such. But I don't own the PS3, so I have to take what I get.

Great game, great for entertaining, and rocking it out.

Wish when battling and such you didn't have to add the same instrument.../own 2 of that instrument, but whatev.

Doesn't see much action if you're not entertianing, but it does what it does
