This game is really fun for someone like me who hasn't played Street Fighter II since it came out on SNES (and I'm not even talking about the Turbo version). The graphics are nice and the gameplay is fun. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 for the following reasons:
1 - Once you get the hang of your favorite character and you play through the game a time or two, it'll be fun to beat the crap out of people for awhile but the game will certainly start getting old... especially after you unlock the Akuma dressed in blue and you can absolutely pummel the crap out of everyone.
2 - I went from playing the game on the default difficulty the first time through up to level 8 on the next. Call me crazy, but there wasn't much of a noticable difference in difficulty to me outside of a few characters: Blanka, Guile, and Vega.
3 - This game has some MAJOR glitches that really take away from the experience for me. First, unless I'm missing something like a combination of buttons you have to press, there's no way to reset your progress. In other words, once you unlock characters and get so far with your scores and best times with all the other challenges, you're stuck with those... but that's not the end of the glitches! Many of the numbers for your best times show up all jumbled, the button menu no longer works (just freezes the game), and sometimes, when I beat M. Bison, the game either glitches to a jumbled screen and freezes or glitches to a screen with a silhouette of Akira's big noggin and - you guessed it - freezes.
So... if I want to start this game over from scratch, it looks like I'm going to have to buy it (new, since other used ones will be somewhere in the same state, I guess) again. Outside of the things mentioned above, I still love playing this game from time to time. I've had it for well over a year now. Overall, it's a great game but easy to master and glitchy after a certain point.
Could have been a lot better.

This game is a gba port of Street Fighter II, so i'll only note differences between it and the original game. This game is slow as s-word, turbo 3 is the fastest it goes and it's seriously world warrior speed. if you put it on turbo 1 or God forbid NORMAL speed you're in for a fight in slow motion. You can unlock Akuma and Shin Akuma which is cool but the thrill of that fades. Overall worth getting but only because it's portable.
In Need of a DS update!!!

There is no denying how fun it is to play a good SF2 on a portable game system and this GBA version is truly enjoyable! That being said, us Nintendo fans are sorely missing out when you compare this game to the newer and far superior SF Alpha Max for PSP. What we need is a new updated version for the NDS with serious controller enhancements! Why the game limits your ability to customize the controller is baffling to me. And the sound is a little dreadfull as well. Thankfully the graphics are surprisingly well done and the animation is good as well. Overall I would give the game a 3.5 on graphics and content. I love the redone anime style character screens and placeholders and if you can get used to the forced control schemes that limit you to only 4 button, then game plays quite well...But the burning question is if PSP can deliver a perfect translation of Darkstalkers or SF Alpha, then where is the love from Capcom and Nntendo? Where is the new SF release for the more robust, powerful, and capable DS? And how bout some nice innovative enhancements that utilize the DS second screen such as character bios or match/rank info while in battle...Let's get creative and revitalize SF for the DS generation! Until then...if you can find this game it is a worthy pickup to satisfy the SF gamers on the go like myself!

Capcom's Street Fighter series was, for many years, the best tournament-fighting video game series in the world. Unfortunately, by adding too much complexity too fast, Capcom destroyed the series. Fortunately, in the infancy of the Game Boy Advance, Capcom tried rereleasing one of the finest games in the series - and on a portable system! Read on for my review of Super Street Fighter II - Turbo Revival.
PROS:
-YOU HAVE A CHOICE OF SIXTEEN CHARACTERS. No two characters play exactly alike, and each one has his or her own strengths and weaknesses. This greatly enhances the replay value.
-FOR A PORTABLE FIGHTING GAME, THE GRAPHICS AREN'T HALF BAD. You can tell just by looking at the in-game graphics that Capcom really did put some work into this game.
-IT'S PORTABLE! This is the first time Super Street Fighter II Turbo has ever been on a Nintendo system, and the fact that it's a portable version makes it all the more appealing.
CONS:
-THE PORT IS HORRIBLY INACCURATE IN MANY WAYS. For some reason, many backgrounds were changed! Why the hell does Chun Li have her ALPHA SERIES background!? Why are the "boss characters'" taunts so out of character? (For example, M. Bison says "Handsome fighters never lose battles", but this quote BELONGS to Vega!) Likewise, where's Akuma? His introduction is one of the things that made this game so great, so his omission is unforgivable. Also, the endings have been changed.
-THE ANIMATION IS CHOPPY. In the heat of battle, you're really going to start to notice this - it's nothing too serious, but it's enough to make a potential gamer turn their head in disgust. I've seen fighting games on the Game Boy COLOR that have had smoother resolution!
-IT'S A SIX-BUTTON GAME, BUT GAME BOY ADVANCE HAS FOUR BUTTONS. Because of this, the control scheme had to be somewhat "scaled down." And yes, Capcom forces you to use the system's shoulder buttons - a nightmare if you've got big hands like myself. Of course, that's Nintendo's fault, not Capcom's.
OVERALL:
Overall this is a good port of an excellent fighting game - I just wish it could have been more faithful to the original. But still, it's very good, and if you own a Game Boy Advance and like old school fighting games, don't hesitate to pick this one up.
Only for true SF fans, with much cash to spend

well, this game is really great one. the graphics are good looking , with like 3 new stages. the character menu is beautiful. all the old sounds are included in there. 6 battle modes to choose from and a link Vs mode for beating your friends in it. Capcom did a really good job in setting a new system for the old 6-button configuration into a new 4-button setting. But watch out, this game has around 15 glitch, and some of them are premanant, which means they might damage your catridge. Also, you can't reset those since Capcom is using an EEPROM instead of a battery inside, so you can't erase the memory. Major glitch: the game hangs when you fight akuma (no fight lost during game), but then, there are many mistakes which could be considered minor to the akuma glitch in this game. To get around this glitch, you'll have to lose a fight against a character to ensure you can continue to M.Bison and get the endings. Its taken off the shelves now, since Capcom did refund people for this game, and I heard that they're working on a newer imporved version. If you're really crazy about this game, then get the Japanese version since it doesn't hang, but then, you'd be missing the newly-redone endings. Worth your money only you're a true SF2 fan and got some cash to spend on E-auctions. Meanwhile, stick to the new and awful SF games till Capcom finds a way with this one, I hope.
Best portable next to Alpha 3

The king of all fighting game series makes an impressive debut on the Game Boy Advance with Super Street Fighter II Turbo Revival. Beautiful graphics, incredibly fast gameplay, and plenty of single-player action make this the ultimate portable fighter. Choosing from over 16 of the original Street Fighter cast-no SFIII or Alpha characters here-you battle in the classic one-on-one style with three turbo speeds and the "beat-up-the-car" and "barrel-busting" mini-games. You can also unlock several cool single-player modes, like survival, timed attack, beat the bosses, and fight Akuma-but this game is best when you're battling another player via the link cable. The 2D sprites are smoothly animated and the backgrounds are awesomely detailed as the GBA's wide screen is filled to the edges with frantic action. Controls are dead-on with a simple four-button setup (as in Marvel vs. Capcom 2), and the GBA is reminiscent of the old Super NES controller (hopefully the GBA shoulder buttons will hold out). Big-handed gamers, however, may find their fighting endurance severely shortened by the minute size of the GBA-i.e., "hand cramp!" The soundtrack is standard SF fare, but some sounds are distorted, while other small bits are missing.
This game brings you back to a time when Street Fighter was the unrivalled king of the fighting genre, and now the series will reign again on the GBA. Super Street Fighter II Turbo Revival is so good that it will easily make diehard pocket fighters forget all about the great genre titles on the short-lived Neo Geo Pocket Color.
An up and down game

This game has got a big enough character selection. The back of the box lies to you and tells you there are 8 modes when there is only really 6.The game is packed with glitches, that ruin your best times, and even crash your game!!I have not yet come across any but i went into some message boards, all of them complained of glitches(and somebody even wrote really long text telling of all the glitches). However the characters are awesome as always,i consider the graphic sprites way better than most of the now-a-day high quality graphix.I bought this game on ebay for 20 dollars.I mean this game is so rare that they quit reproducing them.most people complained to capcom and got a 40 dollar refund of the retail price. You think im that stupid??This game is like as rare and valuable as final fantasy 1 for nes!!If you can get your hands on it,you own something thats value keeps on rising. But try not to get akuma.....he startes off most of the glitches in the game(i read that text thing on glitches and there were about 35 of them). You typically have to lose atleast one match everytime in arcade mode or your game will crash.
Street Fighter's great, da bomb!

... If you like fighting games, u will love this. It's a great remake of a great game... There are 16 fighters: Ryu, Ken, Guile, chun-li, blanka, dee jay, cammy, t. hawk, m. bison, vega and more. There are two hidden characters (well they are the same person but there are 2 versions, I think the second is stronger.) This character is... AKUMA, the king of fists! I believe version 2 is Shin Akuma. The box of the game lies, telling you modes that are not included. The game control is very nice, but press select and u can do special moves much easier (refer to instruction booklet, I use this easy option every time) There are really six modes, one is VS mode and you need two games and two GBAs. 2 of the modes you unlock. U unlock stuff by getting points in arcade mode. You get points for how well u fight. This is a classic 1 on 1 button masher. There are heavy, medium, and light punches and kicks and there are throws and special moves, each character's special moves are unique. Blanka, for example, electrocutes people. A nice new addition is super moves. When your super meter is full, u cand do a super move, doing lots of damage. Finish someone with a super move and it looks really cool. I am a boy and I really like fighting games and I love this game. There are downsides, too. You unlock stuff by getting poits, once u get 9999 (i think) points u can't get any more and it gets boring with nothing to unlock. Sound is pretty good. It is much better if you wear headphones. I like the tunes, but voices are stuupid. Sagat sounds like an idiot saying, " Tiger Uppercut!" The graphics are sweet and colorful. U may have heard the game can lock up if you end up fighting Akuma in arcade mode but i have never fought him in arcade. There are bonus games which u can unlock and see how fast u can wreck a car or break barrels or defeat people. This game is not bloody or gory at all, just violent and 5 year olds probly shouldn't play it. So buy this and find out how u like it! ... GET THIS! this game should really be 4 3/4 stars but I can't do that on this rating scale.
Great game but you can wait

This game is good to pick up if you are a real fan of the SF series. The graphics are PSX quality, which is great. The sound is classic street fighter with bad music. I love the way you can perform moves more easily whan you press select (Hadoken down forward punch. If you push select is's forward punch). There are four modes and two more to unlock. It takes a long time, but you can unlock Akuma. Now the one problem that brought my reveiw to a 3. IT'S NOT ALPHA 3. If you really like street fighter save your money for Alpha 3. I mean 17 characters are a lot, but Alpha 3 has 30! I bought this a while ago so I didn't even know that Alpha 3 was coming out, but if you really want the SNES game get SuperStreet Fighter 2 Turbo Revival. P.S if you have a Dreamcast get Marvel vs Capcom 2!!
