Wow! I would've never imagined playing STREET FIGHTER on a handheld! The GAMEBOY ADVANCE version of the classic SUPER STREET FIGHTER 2 is awesome. All of the characters are here with all of their moves. At first I found the controlling a little awkward -- espically with the special moves. But with a little practice it's no problem. You can choose all of your fave characters (Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, etc.) and they come equipped with all of their special moves and combos! I was impressed -- even the signature voices and music are all here! The graphics are great. It's crisp and clear -- just like the arcade version! You can choose up to 16 fighters plus 1 hidden (Akuma). Anyway the GBA version is very well put togther and it proves once again that SSF2 is still a top notch action/fighting game.

Big game, with a big down

Super Street Fighter II: Turbo Revival is a good game.
I have played the game my self, so I should know.
The grafix are not bad, smooth 2D like the klassik
street Fighter games. A great veriaty of fighters this game has:
Balrog,Blanka,Cammy,Chun Li,Dee Jay,Dhalsim,E. Honda,Fei Long,
Guile,Ken,M. Bison,Ryu,Sagat,T. Hawk,Vega and Zangief.
As for how long you will be playing this game, well with all the fighters available, I think it should last a while.
This game is a great game, with many fighters, 2D console
quality grafix, and is worth houres of amusment.

The only problem in this game, is the controls.
It will be very hard to win a match without using a combo
such as Ryu's Dragon Punch, or using a special such as Ken's Shoryu Reppa.Hitting those moves requieres alot of skill and getting used to.
It may take a while, but you should still get this game because it's very good.

This game ROCKS!

I played this at E3. It's by far the most amazing fighter ever made for a handheld. Super sweet!!

I can't seemed to put the game away since i got it. Though this game has been around for years, but it is still addictive. graphics are great, and nothing much have changed since its conversion into GBA format. brings back the old memory. the selection screen was given a major facelift, and now one do not have to key in specail code for akuma, unlike the arcade version. However, the heavy puch button is quite difficult to excute, may be i have not gotten used to it. overall this game is great. One word of caution for parents.....KEEP IT AWAY FROM YOUR KIDS DURING EXAM PERIOD, IT IS TOO ADDICTIVE...

Awesome!

Super StreetFighter II Turbo Revival is THE fighting game! Some minor details have been reworked to make the game even that much more appealing!! Some examples: When an opponent is hit with a red fireball or yoga flame the character's body isn't all engulfed in flames so when the bigger characters like Zangief and Sagat get hit they don't get shrunken into that fire cocoon thing anymore, their bodies are highlighted with red and flames are a burstin' from their legs or arms much like the alpha series, another example is when the turbo gauged has been accumulated but hasn't been used in that round, the gauge also carries on into the second round, just like in the alpha series (the old Super Streetfighter II turbo didn't do that). Also some new backgrounds have been added like Chun Li's new background is from Streetfighter alpha 2, and the NEW character art alone is amazing once more. Some reviews say that they don't favor the button configuration because of the Gameboy Advance's buttons, but you can press "select" in the middle of the match to activate "easy command" option, but I will tell ya'll this, it is kinda' tricky to pull of a Dragon Punch so if you like Ken, Ryu or Sagat you'd better be ready to play "simon" with your Gameboy advance cuz your hands gon' be all over the place, to get that 6hit tiger uppercut. AAAnyways, even with the same grapics from the olden days and the new lil' tidbits here and there it really makes the game SOoooooo refreshing! MMM MMMM GOOD! If you're Die hard Streetfighter II fan of the original series and not too enthusiastic with the new fighting games out there where there are 4 different gauges and 3 different fighting styles THIS IS THE GAME 4 U!!!

Great game but you can wait

This game is good to pick up if you are a real fan of the SF series. The graphics are PSX quality, which is great. The sound is classic street fighter with bad music. I love the way you can perform moves more easily whan you press select (Hadoken down forward punch. If you push select is's forward punch). There are four modes and two more to unlock. It takes a long time, but you can unlock Akuma. Now the one problem that brought my reveiw to a 3. IT'S NOT ALPHA 3. If you really like street fighter save your money for Alpha 3. I mean 17 characters are a lot, but Alpha 3 has 30! I bought this a while ago so I didn't even know that Alpha 3 was coming out, but if you really want the SNES game get SuperStreet Fighter 2 Turbo Revival. P.S if you have a Dreamcast get Marvel vs Capcom 2!!

Street Fighter's great, da bomb!

... If you like fighting games, u will love this. It's a great remake of a great game... There are 16 fighters: Ryu, Ken, Guile, chun-li, blanka, dee jay, cammy, t. hawk, m. bison, vega and more. There are two hidden characters (well they are the same person but there are 2 versions, I think the second is stronger.) This character is... AKUMA, the king of fists! I believe version 2 is Shin Akuma. The box of the game lies, telling you modes that are not included. The game control is very nice, but press select and u can do special moves much easier (refer to instruction booklet, I use this easy option every time) There are really six modes, one is VS mode and you need two games and two GBAs. 2 of the modes you unlock. U unlock stuff by getting points in arcade mode. You get points for how well u fight. This is a classic 1 on 1 button masher. There are heavy, medium, and light punches and kicks and there are throws and special moves, each character's special moves are unique. Blanka, for example, electrocutes people. A nice new addition is super moves. When your super meter is full, u cand do a super move, doing lots of damage. Finish someone with a super move and it looks really cool. I am a boy and I really like fighting games and I love this game. There are downsides, too. You unlock stuff by getting poits, once u get 9999 (i think) points u can't get any more and it gets boring with nothing to unlock. Sound is pretty good. It is much better if you wear headphones. I like the tunes, but voices are stuupid. Sagat sounds like an idiot saying, " Tiger Uppercut!" The graphics are sweet and colorful. U may have heard the game can lock up if you end up fighting Akuma in arcade mode but i have never fought him in arcade. There are bonus games which u can unlock and see how fast u can wreck a car or break barrels or defeat people. This game is not bloody or gory at all, just violent and 5 year olds probly shouldn't play it. So buy this and find out how u like it! ... GET THIS! this game should really be 4 3/4 stars but I can't do that on this rating scale.

An up and down game

This game has got a big enough character selection. The back of the box lies to you and tells you there are 8 modes when there is only really 6.The game is packed with glitches, that ruin your best times, and even crash your game!!I have not yet come across any but i went into some message boards, all of them complained of glitches(and somebody even wrote really long text telling of all the glitches). However the characters are awesome as always,i consider the graphic sprites way better than most of the now-a-day high quality graphix.I bought this game on ebay for 20 dollars.I mean this game is so rare that they quit reproducing them.most people complained to capcom and got a 40 dollar refund of the retail price. You think im that stupid??This game is like as rare and valuable as final fantasy 1 for nes!!If you can get your hands on it,you own something thats value keeps on rising. But try not to get akuma.....he startes off most of the glitches in the game(i read that text thing on glitches and there were about 35 of them). You typically have to lose atleast one match everytime in arcade mode or your game will crash.

Best portable next to Alpha 3

The king of all fighting game series makes an impressive debut on the Game Boy Advance with Super Street Fighter II Turbo Revival. Beautiful graphics, incredibly fast gameplay, and plenty of single-player action make this the ultimate portable fighter. Choosing from over 16 of the original Street Fighter cast-no SFIII or Alpha characters here-you battle in the classic one-on-one style with three turbo speeds and the "beat-up-the-car" and "barrel-busting" mini-games. You can also unlock several cool single-player modes, like survival, timed attack, beat the bosses, and fight Akuma-but this game is best when you're battling another player via the link cable. The 2D sprites are smoothly animated and the backgrounds are awesomely detailed as the GBA's wide screen is filled to the edges with frantic action. Controls are dead-on with a simple four-button setup (as in Marvel vs. Capcom 2), and the GBA is reminiscent of the old Super NES controller (hopefully the GBA shoulder buttons will hold out). Big-handed gamers, however, may find their fighting endurance severely shortened by the minute size of the GBA-i.e., "hand cramp!" The soundtrack is standard SF fare, but some sounds are distorted, while other small bits are missing.
This game brings you back to a time when Street Fighter was the unrivalled king of the fighting genre, and now the series will reign again on the GBA. Super Street Fighter II Turbo Revival is so good that it will easily make diehard pocket fighters forget all about the great genre titles on the short-lived Neo Geo Pocket Color.

Good Graphics Good Game Bad Buttons

If you are not an avid Street Figther Fan and you like 2-D games then you should enjoy this game which brings back many classic Street Fighter 2 characters. The graphics are great for a handheld and the gameplay is acceptable for a gameboy. If you are an avid Street Fighter 2 gamer you will soon notice all the fun combos you were pulling off with 4-6 buttons on the controller are now even harder to use in combination. This makes the ability to truly maximize the games potential difficult without a lot of practice and patience and relearning.

Bottom line: If your going to start buying more than a handful of games for Gameboy Advance this is still a great 2-D fighter to take with you and the gameplay is much better than some of the poor 2-D game translations attempted on the original gameboy/gameboy color engine.
