So-so in every respect. Try it in a store before you buy it.

Ok, I love the concept of party games. It gets a bunch of people together for a fun time. From the description of this game, it sounded like it would be awesome. I can honestly say I've played it maybe 3 times since I bought it the same day I bought my Wii, which was shortly after it was released.
My main gripe with this game, you ask? The controls are unintuitive. The instructions on how to play the games are so unclear that once you get into the game (since you've given up trying to figure out the rules you decide to just dive in) you end up bumping around clumsily and gaining virtually no points, or whatever your goal is for that particular mini game.
As for the "main game," it's a joke! It's so difficult to control the ball with the remote that I never made it past the first level! I wish now that I had returned the game and got my $50 back!
If you're in the market for a good party game try Rayman or WarioWare (even though it's only one player at first), I would suggest passing on Monkey Ball.

Difficult Controls

My family loves Super Monkey Ball, we've loved the challenge to get to the next level, but this game was completely frustrating. We've played several Wii games, and the controls for this game are totally different. In the mini games, you are lucky if you can get the remote to pick up your movements correctly. In Whack-A-Mole we could only get the hammer to show up on the screen maybe half of the time. In red light green light my younger sons could not get their guy to move. It seems like you have to have percise movements in order to enjoy this game. The main game might be fun if you took a lot of time to master the controls, but who wants to do that? We were expecting a fun family game, and instead were very disappointed. We expected so much more. The Wii format is fantastic, we ended up playing Zelda, and taking turns controlling it. This was a lot more fun! Sorry Super Monkey Ball creators, this was a big let down.

A fun game, mostly for kids

The new controller input methods seem well thought out. Except for a few instances where I could not get it to respond correctly at all I had a lot of fun with this game. My kids enjoy the game very much and have a lot of fun with the minigames. The main game itself is pretty challenging and like the GCN version I've managed to find a few spots that are really hard.

The storyline is a little less 'weird' than the GCN version of SMB2 but the general premise is still there. Bad guy does something, and for some reason if you run through a ton of mazes and 'fight' the bad guy at the end you get a piece of it back.

Besides Zelda this is the best Wii game!

The unique Wii remote allowed this game to have the best control of the series its easy and fun and the stages is really smartly designed and they get harder after the first few 10s of stages,
there are now an easy but fun cool boss battles at the end of each world each boss needs three hits to die and they are as fun as Mario games Bosses.

This game is long it could last you 15 hours or more depending on your skill, it can be longer too if you want to reach the secret worlds.
the music is great even more charming than the first game.
They are 50 multiplayer mini games some of them are OK but some are really addictive that they may make you play the game for years just for these mini games.

Not great for multiplayer

The multiplayer games are no fun. Hard to control. Wii Sports is way more fun for multiplayer. It would be better to save your money from buying monkeyball and buy bomberman '93 or wait for Wii Play.

AMAZING!

Super monkey ball is amazing. The main game is awsome, with the sudden twist and challenges that come ahead. In the harder levels, you jump over hurdles, speed up to dizzing speeds, and battle brand new bosses! Every boss has a new and different way of defeat, making the game creative and challenging.

Now the mini-games, i had some problems with, but all-in-all they're great! Some games are pointless and make no sense, like the hover car battle. I mean you hit won thing, you get points, you hit another, you don't! Anyway, most of the games are fun, like the basic monkey ball races. It's also good because you personalize it buy choosing the games you play and how many. And it will never be the same-because there are 50 totally origianal games!

Just to show, this is a great game, you'll come across blocks, but learn how to pass them. It's a great starter game, and, oh yeah, DON'T LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS!

I bought this the day the Wii came out and played it several times and found it was boring and way to hard to control. We eventually sold it.

Fun but only for a short time

If this was the only Wii game available, Wii would die. It okay fun but you quickly get annoyed with the music and the monotony of the game. My kids who are 9 and 5 play it for a short time but quickly get bored. There's nothing too exciting or challenging about it. Neither my husband or I want to play it at all. Other Wii games like Mario Galaxy, Cars Mater-National, Wii Sports, etc. have a longer lasting appeal and the music doesn't annoy you to death. When my kids play it, I wish I could mute the system.

Rent it before you buy

For me, the games are not much fun. My six year old likes them a little more but says most are "Boring". I am glad I rented this, because I cannot see playing these games for more that two weeks.
