I have played the Super Mario Advance Japanese import version of it and it is okay, but the characters talk TOO MUCH. They should be an option to have the voices turned on, off, some or alot, but it is still a good idea. The Super Mario Bros. game is okay, but not one of my favorite games in this game pak. They should of added new levels to the game to make it more exciting and different. My opinion is if you like all the Super Mario Bros. games for the NES get the Super Mario All-Stars game pak for the Super Nintendo.
O.K game

This game was okay but was a little hard at times. Sometimes when you would jump or run on to something it seemed you were on ice. This is a good game for Mario Fans, But I think that the Mario advance 2 and 3 are better.

Commonly, Nintendo releases a Mario game with each new console (Super Mario Bros. 1 for the NES, MArio World for the SNES, Mario Land for the original GB, Mario 64 for N64), but instead of releasing a "new" Mario game for the GBA, they decided made another remake from an old game (the third)
This game is a remake of the SNES version that came with the "Super Mario all Stars", this was the remake of the original "Super Mario Bros. 2" for the NES, and that was the remake of "Doki Doki Panic", that was only released in japan, they just added the Mario characters and violá! Super Mario Bros 2.
The japanese Super Mario Bros 2 was very similar to SMB1 (in graphics and sound) but one of the hardest mario games outthere (maybe the hardest of all)... i don't know if that game was "to difficult" for america, or maybe because it used a peripheral that never arrive here (Famicom Disk System), but it never arrived for the old NES, instead of that, Nintendo of america took Doki Doki and made some changes here and there and released the new game as SMB2 (in japan, this game was released 4 years later with the name "Super Mario USA").
Don't get me wrong, the original SMB2 is a good game in the tradition of the Mario franchise (not as good as SMB3, but certainly far superior to Doki Doki), and the SNES remake was very faithful to the original; i mean, the game is fun, but the GBA version is VERY modified from the original SMB2 (and the added voices are anoying) but the challenge is almost the same than the original, so, i only recomend this game if, and only if, you lived in a cave the last two decades and NEVER played this game, but i doubt it so much.
I recommend Super MArio advance 3 instead of this game (is almost a carbon copy to the original Yoshi's island, and less known than SMB2, so maybe a lot of people never have played it), or maybe SM Advance 4 (SMB3) that is a much better game than this.
A Classic

It's pretty fun, with the same old motives. For those of us who played Mario on the FIRST Nintendo (you know, the ones with the box controllers? and the games you cleaned out with a q-tip and alcohol?) it isn't much diffrent, just better graphics. But for first time players, it should be good fun. Graphics: 10 out of 10 Sound: 9 out of 10 (tune gets kind of annoying, but several songs) Action: 9 out of 10 (like I said, same ol', same ol') Challenge: 6 out of 10 (beat it once, beat 'em all) There's seven worlds, and about 4 levels per world. So it makes for many hours of gameplay. And I admit, it is one of those games you can put down for awile and come back to and its still kind of fun.
not as good as the original

I was expecting this game to be more like the original. So I didn't like it as much. There is newer stuff added in, like the giant enemies that automatically give you hearts. But overall this game is awesome, but I still miss the classic 8-bit action.
O.K.....I guess...

This game is pretty fun... until you... throw your GBA against the wall. Heres how I rate it:
Graphics:4/5- Just like the NES (or SNES, I forget)version. Colorful and easy to see, but kind of old-school.
Sound:2/5-This has to be the worst part of the whole game. It's even worse than a Brittney Spears song!
Gameplay:3/5-Like I said, you get so frustrated, you want to take a sledgehammer and crush the little game cartridge into a billion pieces. Fun half the time, nerve racking the other half.
Average:3/5-If you are a fan of the NES (or SNES) version, I would say this is a good game for you, but if you are short-tempered, try something else, like Tony Hawk 2, Tony Hawk 3, or a fighting game like Street Fighter 2 or Tekken.
Really Fun But difficult

This is The first Game I got for My Gameboy Advance. It is quite easy at first, but it is very hard when you get close to the end. I have been stuck on world 7-2 for three months.

THIS GAME CAUSDED ME TO BREAK MY GAMEBOY ADVANCE OUT OF PURE RAGE. I THINK THIS IS A GOOD ENOUGH EXAMPLE OF WHY NOT TO BUY THIS GAME. I DO HAVE A COUPLE OF GOOD POINTS ABOUT THIS GAME. IT WAS ENTERTAINING FOR THE FIRST COUPLE OF HOURS, AND THE GRAPHICS WERE AN INPROVEMENT FROM THE GBC. YET I STILL RECOMEND YOU DONT BUY THIS GAME! IF YOU ARE A SHORT TEMPERED GAMER DONT BUY MARIO ADVANCE. RENT IT OR PLAY A FRIENDS (IF U HAVE ANY) BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DONT BUY IT!
