This game is a must have. If you like colorful side-scroling action/adventure games you have to check this title out. Especially if you don't have a cube and can't get prime. Pick this game up folks.

Hmmm i loved this game. I remeber when i got it at a shopco and the friend i was with murmered what a nerd i am. (huh huh huh funny) Anyways i played this game for about a week and i beat it which is teh same with most metroid games (exept metroid prime unless you like play it all the time but the gameboy is so much more mobile) Anywho, this game is awsome. Its kinda more colorful then the other games as by meaning its the most like cel shading (like zelda: wind waker) but its barley noticable. I thought the game had an amazing plot and really interesting bosses (yes -sigh- ridley AGAIN) it was definatley a cool idea but truthfully i kinda wondered if samus is stuck in that suit i thought she wasnt like i read it somewehre but theres lots of liars out there. Anywho, i would recremend this game to anyone even if you dont play the series the only thing thats kinda previous is the baby metroid DNA and the whole metroid sr388 planet thing but besides that nothing new here. Exept ridley i guess (curse you ridley!!!!) But buy this game (well you dotn have to....) but i advise it.
The first Metroid game in over 9 years.

Metroid Fusion is the true sequel to the previous title Super Metroid for the Super Nintendo. Regardless of that, you won't need Super Metroid as a history lesson... even though that would be a fun lesson.
There's an intro before you start the game that tells you everything you need to know, but right from the start if you have any familiarity with other games in the series, you will know that the suit is different. Well, don't worry too much. All the signature moves are here, plus a new one that lets you grab onto ledges. Doesn't sound like much, but that does change the dynamics of level design. While I'm not a fan of the rather claustrophobic space station setting, you shouldn't worry that much as there will still be some interesting environments... even if most of them are not as open as in previous games, such as Super Metroid.
Anyway, the control scheme is surprisingly good here. Despite lacking two buttons compared to the previous game, this game makes do with what the GBA has. The R button allows you to switch to missles, and unlike Super Metroid's cumbersome "always on" setup, Fusion has made the button a toggle. Even better, if you have power bombs the game is smart enough to know if you are in ball form and go to power bombs instead of missles, so switching weapons is easy.
Visuals are good too, and there're lots of little touches you may not notice the first time through that add something to it.
Sound is okay, but there's are a few issues here. Some of the sound effects, especially one for the power bomb, can be annoying in a way that almost hurts your ears due to the shear volume of it. Though, as far as I know, that may be the only one to worry about. Music is good, though not the masterpiece that Super Metroid's soundtrack was. Still, it usually fits the mood perfectly, and there are some tracks that scare me to the core when listening to them at night (same can be said for some of the events related to some enemies, most notably the SA-X).
Sadly, the game can be a bit on the short side, but for what it's worth Metroid Fusion is a memorable entry in the series, and easily recommended.
Awesome!

Since I grew up to the Metroid series, I was thrilled they released this on the GBA. While keeping the same side-scrolling SNES gameplay, they very much improved on the graphics and sound here (though they kept the feel, still). The story fits right in with the classic metroid theme (actually taking off on the original gameboy release). The thing that got me most about this game was that the boss fights are much faster paced than the previous releases. Also, when enemies drop "energy" or "missiles," they just don't leave them sitting there. They're in the form of a sort of parasite, and they often fly away if you're not quick enough to grab'em. If you like the other Metroid games, or if you like sci-fi adventure games, you can't go wrong here!
Super Metroid, it is not

This game was highly disappointing. It is extremely linear. Basically, it tells you where to go, and locks off all other areas of the game. The attempts at making a story are poor and contradict earlier Metroid games. This game does have its good points, however. The play is similar to Super Metroid. It is also nice to be able to play the original Metroid, although if you want to play the best in the series, play Super Metroid.
Great addition to the Metriod Series!

Metroid Fusion was a great game. Samus has a new look, well at least most of the game. You had your same old equipment such as missiles and rolling into a ball. The story was good and also it was easy to figure what to do and go because a computer can tell you where to go. That made it a lot more fun to know where I'm going. I also have to say that it was kinda challenging too. Some bosses were pretty hard. The only thing was the last boss pulled a Mother Brain rip off if you know what mean. I won't go on anymore cause I'll spoil it, but no Mother Brain isn't in the game. Overall, buy this if you like Metroid its really fun and gots some fun challenges with it. You also can link it to Metroid Prime also to get features such as to play the old Metroid which is kinda lame though cause you have to beat both games first, but don't worry, it isn't that fun. So just get it, its something new and different for gameboy advance.
Really cool, but too easy

This is a really fun game, but it is WAY too easy, i mean i beat the game in like a week! A metroid game! the only really hard thing is the bosses. and the last boss is not hard at all. now lets get to the goods. The graphics are improved since the SNES. And there is no power ups that are new except Charge up missiles. It has a great story line but if you want a real Metroid challenge get Super Metroid on the SNES or Metroid prime on Game cube.

A newbie to the GBA and inexperienced with games like Metroid Fusion (I am an RTS and strat game player), I admit that I find this game harder than many of the other reviewers.
I have not finished Metroid Fusion in "a few hours" and this is good because I wish to savor each and every level of this game to the fullest. Graphics are excellent, the game operates very smoothly, and as a teaching tool for games of this type it would be hard to find anything better for newbie players. Patience and persistence always pay off!
I also have a high-end computer system with the latest games and I find that I am neglecting them completely while I play Metroid Fusion. So complaints about the 2D graphics and the "side-roller" style should not be taken too seriously. The graphics are easy on the eye (I rather like them myself), game operation is smooth and predictable, and the gameplay can only be rated superior. If you have never played a game like Metroid Fusion before, be forewarned that 1) some techniques take a while to learn, and 2) the "bosses" can be very tough challenges for new players.

Metroid Fusion is one of the better games I have played all year!! It has a good story although a little wierd at points.
The graphics are impresive. The sound is great, the controls are very responsive.
The boss battles are very fun, and range from super easy to challenging.
The actual game however is VERY SHORT, the fact that you can beat it in under 2 hours is just wierd. I prefer my games to be a little longer but it is still worth going out and spending you $... on! BYE THIS GAME!!!!!

This game is great but kinda scary knowing that the SA-X could just be around the corner. Heck I was pretty egotistical about facing the SA-X and when I did this is what I looked like afterwards "........" this is just to tell you... STAY AWAY AS MUCH AS YOU CAN FROM THE SA-X!!! However I figured out that you only have to run away from/face her 3 times.
And what REALY frustrated me was you could beat the game 100% in less than 2 hours. And I have been spanding weeks on this game.
but if you somehow do so you get a REEEAAAALLLL good picture of Samus without her suit.
But hey. I will give you a hint that can realy save you from getting stuck in a boss level.
When Adam asks you to activate auxiliary power, you will go thru level and eventualy fall in a pit. Then you will see Three fire balls raining down upon you. when the spider(Yazuka) starts ricocheing around, turn into a morph ball and go next to any fire ball but the middle one. When the fire balls disappear, go directly the the closest wall and stay there untile it opens its mouth. Shoot a load of ice missiles in his mouth and repeat the beginning from when I said the fire balls are raining down upon you until he looses his legs. After that just keep shooting upwards with ice missiles and stay in one place.
And the core x isnt as powerful so you dont need a hint for that.
And it could just be a bit hard getting used to your technology.
(I am NOT telling what it is)
use the pit as a safe spot to practice with it and when you are ready you will use it to get out.
