The original Metroid for the NES was amazing for its time, and even now is a great game under any circumstance. Zero Mission is the same game with a lot more areas, upgrades, enemies, and superb graphics. Also, you as Samus, can move much more freely than before. For the first time ever you not only can run with the speed booster, crouch down to charge and jump dash in middair [as featured in Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion which is called spinesharking] but roll into morph ball form and spineshark in a ball to break blocks in small areas. A new area on Zebes, Crateria, is also added. SPOILERS AHEAD! In the original Metroid, the game ended after you blew up Mother Brain and escaped from Brinstar[a classic]. Now, the game continues on, and you are shot down by enemy Space Pirate ships, and crash on "Chozodia" and must infiltrate the Space Pirate Mother Ship without your powersuit [or Varia of cource] armed with only a stun laser. You eventually recover the suit along with upgrades NOT featured in the original Metroid; Space Jump, Plasma beam, and the Varis suit. For anyone wondering if or how you can return to Brinstar, Nofair, ect., there is a glass shaft that leads from Chozodia to Chozo Ruins [another new area], power bomp it, and jump around near the edge of the middle shaft in morph ball form. The shaft will break, and you will gain access to Crateria. The game has two basic difficulties, but if you beat it on normal, you unlock hard mode, which IS HARD! There is a ton of gameplay to be done on this one game, and it would be hard to get "100% complete" without a guidebook. Other upgrades included not in the original, are the power grip, power bomb, charge beam, speed booster, and the ability to jump in morph ball form. Also, saamus's ship was first featured in Metroid 2: Return of Samus, when it is now featured in Zero Mission. Overall, Zero Mission, rivals Metroid Fusion [still a great game], and sequence breaking was actually intended by Nintendo. It is the Metroid Prime of the Game Boy, and is truly a gret buy for the money, and is worth at least a rent to anyone. The famed music of Zebes is better than ever, and Samus is ready to go. Leaping on walls is easier than any other Metroid game, and can be done to sequence break. I can't garantee satisfaction, as there is always someone who wont like something but try this game! Metroid buff or not, it sure packs a punch!

Metroid: Zero Mission is an incredible game. Even if you haven't played the rest of the Metroid games, I still recommend this game to you. This game has incredible graphics, great sound, and surprises around every corner. I barely started playing Metroid games when Metroid Fusion came out and I instantly loved it. That's why I bought this game right when it came out. Something about Metroid gets you sucked in it everytime. The only bad thing I can say about this game is that the bosses weren't hard enough. If you own a Gameboy Advance buy this game right now. If you don't have a Gameboy Advance, buy one and GET THIS GAME!!!!

If you haven't been able to try out this game and you like Metroid games in general, then you are missing out, the control and gameplay from Metroid Fusion has been vastly improved. This game has a complete makeover and and additional 1/4 to 1/3, more game than the original, as well as story outtakes cinemas and the smoothest Metroid control I've had yet, even easier to use than Super Metroid 3!!! Don't miss this one!!!
One of the best old-school Nintendo games is back & better!

What Can I say?! This is the best game ever! This was like the 2nd best old-school nintendo game (2nd to Mario, of course) and now its back and better than ever!
Graphics: 10/10
The graphics are so much better! The lava looks so realistic, and you can almost feel the moistness of the deep underground caverns!
Music: 10/10
The music is so cool! It all orchestrated, and the Gameboy Advance Sp really does it justice. I mean you can feel the adventure while your in Brinstar, and you get the feeling of paranoyia when u enter Kraid's maze!
Story: 10/10
This is the ultimate RPG (if it is one. I dont know ;)) Samus Aran is on a mission to ride Planet Zebes of the Metroids and their Mother Brain. She is the ultimate Heroine. Lara Croft and Princess Zelda dont even compare!
The rest of the 70 points: Nostalgia!
You remeber sitting around the old Nintendo and playing Metroid. And now its back and better than ever! Buy this!
Nearly A Wet Dream Come True

She has been summoned into duty once again. The fearsome bounty hunter, Samsus Aran, has managed to find herself into another episode on the GBA, and I couldn't be more determined to help her blast away at the vicious, Metroid scum or the ancient evil that are the Space Pirates. After the spectacular, simultaneous release of Metroid Prime and Fusion, in which I played hand-in-hand, my penchant towards the Metroid franchise has quadrupled. Unfortunately, Metroid Prime 2 doesn`t have a same time release with Zero Mission. Sigh. However, Zero Mission is nearly a wet dream come true that has rekindled the Metroid fire and keeps it all the more robust.
Not much of a departure from Fusion or even Super Metroid, Zero Mission keeps most of the aspects alive from the two previous installments. In terms of gameplay, the regular, addicting hunt for Samsus's abilities such as the Morph Ball, have been implemented, and I'm presupposing it will always be like that. First off, if you're a stranger to the Metroid series (other than a hefty shame on your part!), a brief synopsis of the simple design is as follows.
The game is a 2D side-scrolling adventure. As the bounty hunter of space, you are expected to explore the depths of the planet Zebes. Usually delving into the underground and near the immediate surface, you must retrieve as many abilities as possible to eventually open up new areas and examine every nook and cranny. Along your path, you will encounter several types of hostile creatures. Therefore, you will have to commence the assault with your arm cannon! Noticeably, there will be areas in which you deduct you may have access to, but try as you may, you will fail to reach them. Simply because you do not have the correct equipment such as, say the Ice Beam to freeze enemies and use them as platforms. Back-tracking is a huge factor, so as you pillage the caverns for several suit power-ups, you'll eventually face great, giant bosses. Don't get too excited though, the bosses are tainted with the description of being quite easy. A piece of cake. Big, dumb, and susceptible to a bombardment of missiles.
Zero Mission's sad harmony notes play in the fact that it follows Fusion's detestable, short length. Other cool factors like Fusion's ability to climb hand-over-hand and gun down baddies has been eliminated. I guess sacrifices have to be made, although I don't know what they were exchanged for. Another thing is the difficulty altogether. I know there is a setting of Normal and Hard, however the entire system behind Zero Mission is so dummy-proof I'm wondering if the creators were unsure whether the gamers of today can do it themselves. Gamers require challenge (I`m praying we do). We can think and explore on our own. The Auto-Map directs you where to proceed. It isn't no hint either, it's a downright command to go there. It felt like playing Metal Gear for the PS1, where the Codec babysat me throughout the entire course of the game. All nitpicks aside, Zero Mission is genuinely an enjoyable adventure.
There is a microscopic yet evident coat of paint added to the game's appearance. Also there are some nice, hand drawn cut-scenes which are used to help bring out the plot (if it could even be regarded as one. . .). The entire atmosphere behind the game is animated well enough with great fluid textures found left and right. The music and ambient sounds fill in the void with their distant and alien-like tones. Clearly one of the GBA's best looking titles, Zero Mission's presentation shoots to kill.
Gamers who solely play for 3D splendor will have to accept it, 2D will never die. This re-make of the first Metroid game has its fair share of flaws (the duration of the game and the lackluster plot), however its brighter half will win you over effortlessly. Following the footsteps of the simple yet genius formula, Metroid's latest offering delivers the goods. On its own merits, Zero Mission muscles to provide a polish that will surely give any gamer a worthwhile ride. There is next to no trouble recommending this to anyone who relishes their GBA.

This game is excellent! There are none of those little problems(e.g., bad graphics, lack of instructions on playing the game, etc...)in this game. I loved the music, the bosses were great, the power up items were nice, in general, the game was perfect.
This game is fun and challanging but could be better
