Upon first viewing this game, I didn't feel as though I'd struck a jackpot. But after playing it for several times, its amazing features became obvious to me and should to any gamer. Compared to Tekken 2, for instance, the game is much better structured. A limited number of characters enables us to get extremely acquainted with the numerous possibilities that they offer. My personal favorites are Voldo (the gatekeeper to hell that uses shifty blocks and quick parries with knives in the place of hands), Souledge (a fiery pirate-skeleton with an amazing skill in sword handling), and Taki (a mysterious but reliable woman warrior). The controls are extremely responsive, and the special moves of the characters are models of creativity for other games to follow. The graphics are truly very good, but not perfect. Even so, Soul Blade delivers the ultimate fighting experience among the existing competing products.
Soul Blade good enough foe PS2!!

Ok this game is pretty much all PS2 owners have of Soul Caliber since it went to DreamCast?! My friends still come over so we can all play it on my PS2!! This game is tight, especially for a PS1 game, I just hope Soul Caliber 2 is made for the PS2! For the price this game goes for, it's worth it completly! I traded Granturismo3(PS2game) for it!

I'm not really a Playstation fighting game fan, but I have to say that Soul Blade is a lot of fun. The graphics are exceptionally good (for a Playstation game) - in fact, I believe they are identical to the arcade game - the music is excellent, and the gameplay is fast and fun. The character end sequences are a kick to watch too.
Do yourself a favor and buy this game, especially if you are a fan of its sucessor, Soul Calibur.
I love this game!

This game was the first Playstation game I ever played, years ago when it was still cutting-edge stuff. I recently bought it because my roommate has a PS2, and I wanted to see if it lived up to my memories. Needless to say, the graphics are a little dated by now, but it's still a great game. I'm not a fan of fighting games, in general, but the addition of weapons makes all the difference for me. Get this game!

this was an absolute dream to play. it may be slow at times, such as losing your weapon, but the gameplay more than makes up for this amazing game. it had a great storyline, characters and a huge array of weapons. the weapon master mode was frustrating but enjoyable. basically, buy this game, you need it, it will fill the void in your empty lives.

This is the same game as "Soul Edge" for PAL/Europe/Asia region.
When you win all your opponents in Arcade mode the last one you have to fight is Soul Edge. With HWANG I won all, including Mr. Soul Edge who is kind of a sculpless mode of Servantes who can fly and disappear during the battle. After you win him you will be able to enter your name into the hall of fame and will see a short cartoon. Sould Edge is two swords of "Soul Edge" which is believed to have a magnifinient destructive power making a fighter almost invinsible.
IMPORTANT NOTE!!!
Make sure that before you play game activate L1,L2 and R1,R2 buttons of the controller. L1 and L2 will let you move left and right respectively in a 3-dimensional way. Likewise R1 and R2 are two super kicks of a fighter which you can exert in a close contact with your opponent.
To activate those features which make this game the best 3-D fighter in the market do the following steps.
1.When CD is loaded select OPTION with your "start" button.
2.From OPTION MENU select KEY CONFIG with either "circle", "triangle" or "square" button of controller.
3. Using either "left" of "right" arrow buttons of controller configure your controller buttons regime to TYPE C.
4. Press START to exist and enjoy a full-featured 3-D fighter.
5. You have to do it everytime when you load your CD anew because the game is always being loaded with initial simplified key configuration.
Likewise if from OPTION you go to GAME OPTION, there with your "right" or "left" arrow keys you can edit such important features as DIFFICULTY LEVEL (Easy, Medium, Hard, Very Hard, Ultra Hard), LIFE BAR, RING SIZE, BATTLE TIME and so on.

I've played "Soul Edge" for PAL/Europe/Asia region about 5 years ago and just needed to remember how to change key configuration. Luckily I did remember, otherwise it would look like a cheap/flat/simple 2-D fighter "Tekken 3". Playing "Soul Blade" with a controller configured to TYPE C makes this game the best 3-D fighter at market, at least to my knowledge. :)
Good Luck!

This game is one of my most fond childhood memories. Soul Calibur and Soul Calibur 2 are unbelievable as well but the one thing that they lack is the superior soundtrack of the original Soul Edge/Soul Blade. Sometimes it's nice to just go to BGM Listen mode and listen to "Wind and Clouds" over and over...

I absolutly love this game. It has many characters, a great plot(which is rare for a fighting game) and many different modes for a great re-play value. I have played this game many times and I never get tired of it thanks to the fact that game is different everytime you play depending on which caracter you choose. A MUST buy.
