Graphics and game play are pretty sad. We played it for about 30 minutes and haven't played it again. I'd be happy to sell it. Any takers?

This game is a joke.

Anyone can see this game is the worst online game ever made. The game lags all the time and graphics suck. Even the lowest 360 game outperforms this disaster game. There is no mission campaign and online servers are very slow. DO NOT buy this game or PS 3, get a XBOX 360 if you want great online play with more quality game titles.

Lousy

Die-hard PS3 admirer here... I was excited about WarHawk until I tried to play it for the first time... the gameplay is terrible. Even if if you're a diehard war monger I don't think you'll find much to love here... don't be misled thinking its a combat flight-sim either...

Truly disappointed.

Just about terrible

This game must have a kind of cult following with all the positive reviews, because I just don't get it. Warhawk is likely the worst PS3 game I've played to date. To start with, there is absolutely no tutorial or any place to practice. You are instantly tossed into chaos before you even know which button shoots. The single solitary reason I gave this 2 stars instead of 1 is flying. The planes are fun to fly around in, that's it, nothing else worth a second look here.

The games only purpose is combat, yet the combat is awful...simply awful. I always hated war games where there is an advantage to jumping around. Here comes warhawk.....you will immediately see people jumping through the air like a bunch of ballerinas fighting a war. It just looks so stupid. In real life do you think soldiers are jumping around on the battle field? There is a crouch option which gives you no advantage at all. So jumping is good, sneaking (crouching)is useless hmmmm....ok

The absolute stupidest most irritating thing about this game is how the knives are the best freaking weapon to use...in a gunfight!!! Wait until you get online and see how many people are running around with knives. You can be shooting someone with a machine gun and they will run up to you and stab you. You die faster from a stab wound in this game then from 40 rounds at close range with an assault rifle. There were hundreds of times where I am unloading my weapon into a guy and he's still running towards me to the point of me wondering if I'm even hitting him despite the crosshairs being directly on him. I'm serious, I even snuck up directly behind a guy and shot him in the head, did he drop dead? No...he turned around and stabbed me, then I die. Ok

Basically all the "war" consists of is a bunch of guys running around like chickens without heads and jumping through the air. It reminds me of the lame online combat of Socom 1 for the PS2. Dogfights in the air are clunky and depend on sheer luck. Driving tanks is awkward and they explode far too easily. I really could list more annoying features but it's even bothering me while I type this so I shall stop. In closing, the graphics aren't even all that impressive. I'm sticking with Call of Duty, which is light years ahead of this kiddie nonsense.

Nice Environment but something is missing

This game really open a new kind of video game due to the multiplayer mode. The fact that you really know that your enemies or friends are really other people playing around the world makes you feel in any situation. The game has some scenarios but once you know the game; I mean playing the different modes like team deatchmatch or capture the flag it becomes boring because you can go then for medals, medals, and medals and spend days fighting to get a good score... so basically once you know the game you end it. Other thing... The connection with the servers war really annoying. I though that the cause was my connection, but COD4 just work well.

If it only had single player mode

This isn't a full review by any means, I simply would like to make a few quick observations.

Even though I rarely survive for more than a minute when playing warhawk, I will say this game is a lot of fun, and offers a lot in terms of replay value. As long as there are people playing warhawk online, your money will be well spent.

Now, to get to my gripes.

The biggest, and foremost problem I have when playing this game is the lack of a single player mode. It's not much to complain about, but it REALLY sucks to stick yourself into all the action this game has to offer without having a clue what you're doing. I think for some players, (myself included) playing warhawk for the first time with a bunch of people online (who likely play this game religiously) can be an EXTREMELY frustrating experience! Single player would have been great for those who want to polish up their skills before jumping into the online world of warhawk.

A much smaller issue I have is not being able to play in first person view mode. It's only a small annoyance, but trying to precisely fire a weapon in the third person view tends to be a little more disorienting in my opinion. This isn't a deal breaker, but having an option to change viewpoints would be nice.

meh..

I don't know if the console controls limit this game or what... The graphics aren't bad, the pace is good. It seems like the game should be better to me.

This game seems like a wanna be battlefield 1942/2/2047, but in 3rd person. The controls for the planes, and all other modes really, seem very awkward and the lack of any single player tutorial creates a deterence from ever getting over the learning curve. Jumping into the game a few weeks ago was almost impossible seeing as how most other players can kill a noob in just seconds and most servers use the expansion map that costs another $8 on playstation network.

Overall, I would pass on this game if I could do it over again. However, if I were determined to get a multiplayer frag fix, I would be sure to get the version with the blutooth headset for just $20 more because it would be great for other games online.

If I were to recommend a multiplayer frag-fest for the ps3 I would name the orange box for the much faster paced team fortress 2, along with the great single player games, I enjoyed a 3 day rental of the game just for the multiplayer online content far more than the month of ownership of warhawk as far as 3rd person shooters are concerned...

good game but missing teamwork features

Warhawk is a good game, but its lack in team work features fails. The VOIP comes in clear 80% of the time but the problem is you can't add buddys to find them on the battlefield

This is a good game, but has some major design flaws.

Warhawk for PS3 is a good game. The online experience creates a very fast paced game environment which is ruined by "glitchers, and cheaters." None the less, I enjoy playing Warhawk very much. Also, the ranking up system leaves a bit to be desired. The game proports to have customizable look and feel for your character and aircraft, however you can only unlock these things after ranking up, which appears to be tedious at best. I got a couple of rank ups quickly, but was soon disappointed by the unlocked items. Honestly, I'd rather have had the game content unlocked from the start.

From their literature "You can play the game however you want..." implying that you could always choose to drive a tank or always be a ground troop. However they fail to mention that you'll never make it past certain ranks if this is how you want to play the game, and you won't unlock all of the content. So, let me say this to Insomnia Games, "You can't have it both ways, choose to say that you can customize your stuff, or choose to say you can play it any way you want, you can't say both the way it is currently setup."

What this state of affairs leads to: Cheating, glitching, and rank up servers. These servers are dedicated to getting people rank up. I was reading one forum about flag throwing, so you can increase the number of points you get per game, and I also experienced the "tank" glitch myself personally. This kind of behavior is of course frowned on by the server administrators. I can't help but think that originally this game probably was going to have a mission oriented single player campaign in which you could also gain rank, and it was scrapped at the last minute because it was too much work, and the deadline was coming up for release.

So lets take stock in what we really have. We have a bunch of hosted games, with fast and furious battles, on a very small number of maps. This means that the folks in the beta test know these maps so well that new players have a very hard time playing. Every little trick and nook or cranny in the map is known very well. The learning curve is steep, and the controls of the airplane are not configurable enough. I would be very happy if you could customize the look inversion on the gunsight for the airplane, but you can't, so I constantly look the wrong way with the guns. So what do we have? 4 maps, 3 game types. I can tell you now it will tire quickly as you are repeatly blown up by people who know the maps by the back of their hands.

Sincerely,

Ira Carmel.

Great online game

I gave it three stars merely because of its lack of an offline game mode of some sort. This game is awesome because it is just about the best online shooter I've ever played. Very intense sometimes, and extremely fun. But don't get it unless you have internet on your ps3. Other than that, i recommend you to buy this.
