This game has everything perfect. Controls, graphics, plot, sound and gameplay. I can never put it down. There is something in this game I don't find in many RPG's: challenge. This game is difficult and I like that.
Finally an RPG for GBA! And it's soooo sweeeet!

This game, to put it bluntly, is awsome. The graphics, sound and gameplay are "to die for" on a portable system. The storyline is good but not engrosing, but who cares? I play games to have fun, and if I really want an epic fantasy story I'll read "The Lord of the Rings" or "Harry Potter" or something! The story in Golden Sun is interesting enough to keep me involved and to give the game characters a since of purpose. But the heart of this game lies in it stunning visuals, impressive music and sound effects and most importantly, gameplay! If you love RPG's with fantastic magic spell effects, this game will blow you away. I'll not go into long details as you can read more of the reviews here and find all you need to know about gameplay and story line. Some people may complain that this game is not long enough, but it amazes me that they can put as much as they did on a tiny little cartridge about as big as a bite size Hershy candy bar. I suspect as time goes on that programmers will find ways to compress the game code even further so that by the time Golden Sun 2 comes out, they will be able to give us an even bigger adventure! But as it stands, I'll not complain at this simply gorgeous first effort! Kudos to Nintendo, keep up the good work! Just to sum up my opinion, if you've been putting off buying a Gameboy Advance because your waiting for RPG's to appear for the system, your wait is over. This game rocks. It's beautiful, it sounds great and it's a blast to play! And with so many spell combinations, you'll likely have to play it through several times just to see them all. Buy it now, you wont regret it, I promise.
Let me just say......Zoinks

This game is absolutely amazing! I mean this game could so easily be on a PSONE. The graphics are like 20 times better than Breath of Fire III. The story is kind of used up but the gameplay and graphics make up for it. The characters are cool ecxept for theat quiet whench Mia. Isaac can only nod his head(I think he's a mute). Ivan and Garet are straight though. I havent yet finished the game yet but let me tall you I'm half way through and still stunned. At $... this is a must have!
Graphics - 5.0 (out of five)
Sound - 4.5
Controls - 5.0
Gameplay - 5.0
Overall - 5.0
The best RPG game I've ever played

Golden Sun is definenly one of the games that will make GBA famous. Oh wait it already is! The game play is simply addictive and fun! The game starts out normally enough (for an rpg with the save the world and live up to the image of your dead father theme). Your mother, Dora, wakes you up in the middle of a violent storm. You discover that a boulder is about to crush Vault, your beloved village. You are sent to the plaza. Along the way, you meet up with Garet, your chilhood friend. After running around, fighting a few easy battles, you come by Jenna. Her bro Felix is in the middle of the lake, begging to be saved. Jenna's mother sends you to find someone with Psynergy. when you bring someone back, a boulder crushes poor Felix. You run back from whence you came only to evis drop on two clounish aliens named Satrous and Merandi. They talk about the awsome powers of alchemy and how they must have stumbled on to some trap when they were sneaking around Soul Sanctom. Garet then comes in and makes a racket. Satros and Merandi fight you and you lose.2 years later you don't remember anything anything. You go to your friend Kraden's house to find the two clouns threatening him. they leave.you sneak into soul sanctom with kraden run around solve puzzles and winde up in a room that holdes the elemental stars. Kraden and Jenna make you go get them, and right after you pick up the third one, your old friends revele + Felix?! after a 5 minute cinimatic sequence, under thereat of harm, Garet takes the stars and gives them to someone who just appeard out of no where and is with the satros gang.. They make you retreave the fourth, but the gardean of the stones causes an eruption, which sends the Satros gang and the two new hostages out. You make it out alive and formally take the quest to keep all four light houses from being lighted with the stars. Thus the epic that is golden sun begins. Find Dijn, meet new people, fight battles, solve puzzles, all leading to the final battle with the fusion dragon atop venus lighthouse. You defeat it the games over right? Not So!!
The continuation is coming out in October!
Onto what makes this game so great. First, the sound track is awsome! I wish they made a delux addition like Marrowind that included a Cd sound track. The music is just so pretty and fits every scean perfectly. Second, the fighting system. its simple yet fun. You can attack normally with your weapon, set or unleash your Dijn, defend, or use psynergy. I could go on about the nice graphics or the replayability, but my review would be too long.
The only beef i have about this game are the cinematic sequences. Most are downright useless and take 4 ever. Don't let just this determine your buying choice. Get this game, You WILL love it.
Golden Sun, good, but flawed.

As many good things as I had heard about Golden Sun, after I bought it I was expecting a little more. But let me start with the good points of the game first. The graphics are truly incredible for a handheld game, better than many SNES games, but a liitle pixilated on the world map which is to be expected anyways. And the battle graphics will blow your mind the first couple times you see them, but get a liitle old after a while. The sound is also a rare treat, it may not be on the level of Final Fantasy, but it is crisp sounding and does its job well. Now the bad parts, namely the story line. The story line is a little to basic but it keeps you interested, but hopefully will be better in GS2. And my last gripe is the overly repeative battles. If you thought FF was bad, you haven't seen anything yet. But all in all, if you are looking for a portable rpg for your next trip, or just want to have a good, but not great, rpg to add to your collection, buy Golden Sun.
Pf, the best game!

Well, it has excellent graphics, and the variety and quality of the music is excellent. The vibrant battleing mode makes you feel like you are there. The many things to do and a secret side quest will keep you busy even after you beat the game.
A fantasy game in whice Isaac and friends are the only ones who can save the continent of Angara from the threat of Alchemy. They pursue a group in which the enemies have kidnapped 2 of their friends, and set out to conquer the world.
Great Game

Golden Sun is a great RPG game for GBA. I think one of the best nes that you can get on this system. It has a very engaging storyline with lots of twists throughout. It is a must for all RPG lovers and it is also a great game for the person who is just starting to play RPGs. The menus are very easy to navigate through the game and the graphics are awesome! One thing I must warn you ahead of time is that once you finish this game, you're gonna want to buy Golden Sun: The Lost Age. It continues the story that this game has started. ^_^
A must for all RPGers!

I simply fell in love with this game after spending just an hour playing last summer!
The music and graphics are exceptional!
Though I wish I could have played the original Japanese, I don't think I've mastered JP yet to understand what's going on in the story.
Anyway, though I found it disappointing that the fighting system wasn't more like Final Fantasy's, the graphics, music, and storyline made up for that.
If you haven't quite found an RPG that you like or are just starting out, definitely try this one!
Really Kool!!!
