The game is great! It has a good story line, and is very hard. It is not on of those games that you can beat in a day. Once someone dies, that is it, no extra lives or Pokecenter or anything like that.

So if you like a game that is hard, GET IT! GET IT! GET IT!

RPG fanatics, this is a game for you!

One thing a like about this game is that IT ACTUALLY HAS A GOOD STORY. This game is very addicting, but one flaw.......hard. This is the hardest Gameboy game i've ever played. Another feature I like is that when your in the game you can just turn of the Gameboy and it automatically saves. It's great! If the power goes down to red, you don't have to worry because it saves! Also, you play the game from different people's perspectives. It's pretty long, it has a easy to handle combat system. But the thing is, they think you don't have a clue how to do it, they explain it wa-a-a-a-a-a-ay to much. There is a good variety of units. The graphics are bad when you are moving units but when you chose the command"attack" the graphics are pretty good. Overall it's a good game, but a little to hard for some players.

Also, it's not really and RPG, it's just kinda like one.

Read my reviews on Final Fantasy Tactics titled "New thought for Final Fantasy" and on Pokemon Fire Red titled" Sorry Pokemon!". Thanks for reading. Hope it helps!

Best game ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fire Emblem was awesome! My friend got it, and I always wanted to play it since I liked it so much. Now, I'm on level 28, and I have a hero. The storyline is great, and the battle scenes are way cool! There is always a different mission, and noone you previously fight ever comes back, so you are always fighting new characters(except Vaida the wyvern lord, who you fight on lvl 24 and 27). The theme is good, and you are using Lyn, Eliwood, or if you beat the game once, Hector as your main lord. I give this game a complete 5 stars.

Very Good Game!

First, once you get it, watch the intro movie. This is great game for those who like violent, role-playing, and strategy games. It starts out with a tutorial that is 10 chapters. Chapters are the individual levels you fight on. Anyways, after the tutorial you have 21 chapters you to beat to, kinda beat the game. And don't think the 31 chapters are easy. You get around 15 and it really gets difficult, unless you're good with strategy games like me. You can have a lot of different units with you: lords, heros, fighters, mages, clerics, archers, pegasus and wyvern riders, swordsmen and many, many more! You can also make them even more superior than before using certain items for each type of unit! Other things you can do are: fortune-telling and linking with friends or enemies to show off your unbeatable team of 5! You can also test them out in the practice arena also! One more thing before cons (pros are everything I've said). There's also the sound room you get starting chap.11 where you can listen to your favorite music clips!!

Cons:

No actual cheats.

A very hard difficulty, as I have said.

Not living up to its name

When I got Fire Emblem, I thought It would be great. I have a thing for fantasy and sword games so I was naturally drawn to it. Plus i have heard that fire emblem was a big hit in japan. I was so wrong. The graphics are medicore, although the characters are tiny on the screen. During battles, you are looking down on the characters with a birds-eye view, and they are really small. the sound was the usual cheap japanese music with a few sound effects of flying arrows and clanging swords. Talking is described with rapid beeping noises. The game play was crude and simple, but it still worked. A big downfall is once a charater is defeated, they may NEVER come back. So it gets really frustrating that i have to keep repeating the chapter over and over again to finally win the battle. Another noticable fault is the fact that you can't go back to redo battles. There are also no random battles either. This makes it extremely difficult to spread experience throughout your charaters. The story was about a plains dweller girl named Lyndis (or Lyn). You meet her in the very beginning and your party expands very rapidly throughout the game. You play as a tactician and tell you r units what to do. Apparently, Lyn is heir to her kingdom called Rikea, but her greatuncle will do anything do get the king dom for himself. Each battle is a new chapter, and its gameover if one of your lords are defeated (Eliwood, Lyn, and Hector).
Graphics 3.0
Sound 2.5
Gameplay 2.5
Fun Factor 2.0
Overall, if you're going to get a tactical strategy game, I'd suggest Final Fantasy Tactics Advance or one of the Advance Wars games. Don't be lured by the cool name or the awesome reputation it has earned. Fire Emblem is definitely not a good choice for the holidays.

I think this game is absoulute perfection. The only thing I wish this game had was more player accuracy.Just like whenever you attack with a general he steps back and then thruste's forward.Well the player should have to press the the back button and then the forward button on the D-pad(direction pad).Anyway's you start of with a long intro and trust me every scene is long. You are a tactician who will help Lyn go through 10 lands. When I first got through Lyn's short 10 chapter's i was so mad because I thought the game was over. But it turn's out that after you finish Lyn's story mode you get Eliwood's story mode.Personally I think Eliwood's story mode is better since you get marcus(a strong paladin) on your team. There are 31 chapter's in all.And the cool thing about this game is that you get 32 character classes. There is a regular class and an advanced class. This is the regular, Knight, myrmidon, merceanery, cavalier, nomad, troubader, peagusesknight, wyvernrider, axefighter, archer, mage, shaman, monk, thief, and pirate. This is the advanced ,General, swordmaster, hero, paladin, nomadictrooper, valkyrie, falconknight, wyvernlord, warrior, sniper, sage, druid, bishop, assasin, and berserker. The classes are matched up so since knight is the first on the regulalar list a knight transforms into a general who is the first on the advanced list.Oh yeah, there is also the ultimate classes.Blademaster, greatlord, greatknight, arcshage, and dark druid. The ultimate class is not matched up with the other 2 classes. You get 3 lord's in the game.Hector(axefighter)Lyn(swordfighter)and Eliwood(swordfighter). There are multiple weapon's in the game.Lance's,sword's,axe's,bow's,animamagic, lightmagic, and darkmagic. It's sorta like rock, paper, scissors.Sword's beat axe's,lance's beat sword's and axe's beat lance's.Also anima beats light light beats dark(of course)and dark beat's anima.Bow's don't have a weakness but are good verses peaguses and wyvernrider's.The game really should have been rated for mild violence. And there is some death. Some people say the game has bad graphic's but their just talking about field graphic's.When you attack someone the graphic's are beautiful. And there are also critacle attack's that triple your damage. But I must warn you this game is very addictive.Sometimes I secretly stay up passed my bedtime just to play longer. And also when I get home from school I stay in the car an extra hour just to play.So in conclusion this game is awesome. Later!!!

Best GBA RPG Ever!

For those of you who were disappointed over Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls, this game will let you have peace in your heart. Although it is not made by SquareEnix, it still shares some of the elements of FF:Tactics Advance. While the story is as far out as the FF series, it still retains a lot of the plot twists and suspense that the other games have.

For of you who haven't had the chance to play any of these games allow me to introduce it to you. Intelligent Systems, the people behind Advanced Wars and Paper Mario, have released an RPG based off the Japanese series Fire Emblem after Super Smash Bros. Melee introduced Marth & Roy and the people begged for it to be released (including me). This game is not like SSBM in any regards, its totally different. You play on a grid where you move your units around and attack your opponents.

I am a big fan of grid based combat, so I went and bought this game as soon as I could. It has so many great elements to make a game good. The thing that might shock other people, as it did me, as that as soon as one of the characters dies, they're gone for good, unless of course you want to restart the level. This adds a huge amount of stratergy to the game. Some of the characters that are weak would normally make me care less if they died, but in this game, they give you their background, and each has their own dying phrase. The other thing is, your ending will be changed a little if any character dies.

The sound is spectacular, some of the best orchastrated music I've heard on a handheld. Conversations can drag on a little sometimes, but that can be ignored by the music and the excellent storyline.

It starts out as your basic fairy tale about a girl finding out she's a princess and so on. But then later the game takes on a much darker tone, which I don't want to spoil for those who haven't played the game. Oh, and the other nice feature is the ability for your weapons to have 'health.' Its similar to that of Dark Cloud's system, but different. If you use a weapon too much, it'll break. THe other neat feature is the extra chapters that can be obtained in various ways.

So overall, the game is pretty awesome. I suggest that to everyone who has a gba, to pick this one up even if they hate these games.

PROS
- Excellent Storyline
- Great stratergy elements
- The Battle System works extremely well
- The music is some of the best on a handheld

CONS
- Dialogue can drag on sometimes, but it isn't too bad.
- The Tutorial is extremely annoying, but if you skip it, you miss part of the storyline.
- Losing a character and starting the level all over can be quite annoying when you get to longer levels.

I have to say i really haven't played the whole game. only about two-three chapters because it was my friend's. after that i wanted it soooooooooooooo bad but couldn't get it because it's too close to x-mas...ok...now:

from two-three chapters experience, THIS GAME TOTALLY ROCKS!!! heh sorry....anyway ^_^=really good @_@=ok -_-;=bad(sweatdrop):

GRAPHICS: ^_^ - i think the graphics are REALLY good because for anime they're great and for gba (game boy advance) they're really pretty good, but they have been getting better

STORY: @_@ - it's an ok story-line, and i like that the characters have personalities and their wepons fit their personality somewhat. I mean, Lyn (i only know about 5 characters...) is tomboyish and kind, but i can easily picture her with a sword, and thats what she has (in the beggining).

SOUND: @_@ - i didn't play with the sound on, but the sound effects seemed pretty good, although sometimes they were very...odd...

FUN!!!: ^_^ - it has to be one of the really good games that has action, adventure, and it actually explains the story!!! if you need guides for everything, like you hate running around until you find the answer or losing characters without dying this game is a complete nono (excuse my lack of better words) because my friend told me that it is different each time. But overall if you love strategic games, this is definetly a great game

MOTION PICTURES: @_@ - the moving graphics are reely good, but the horses (4 those characters who have horses) seem to 'dance'. i no this sounds weird, but they do things that are very odd for a horse to do. I don't mean to critisize (cuz i luv the game teehee) but i've gone to summer camp and our horses never do that (im pretty advanced : cantering, trotting, walking) but sometimes it's actually pretty funny to see them 'dancing'.

Awesome Game

From the creators of Advance Wars - This game is one of the best on the GBA console. Although I'm sure that many people would find this game incredibly boring, I believe that it certainly lived up to my expectations.

Learning about this title from Super Smash Bros.: Melee, I looked into it and decided that I might as well buy it. After all, I had been a huge fan of the Advance Wars series (even though it's only two games), and this game was supposed to be very similar. I found out that while this game IS similar to Advance Wars, the feel for it is very different.

The game is a turn-based strategy RPG where you control a small army fighting to accomplish various tasks in the game. Each character has a certain strength, defence, movement, etc. rating which effects it's overall usefulness. There are many character classes, but roughly half of them come from previous forms (i.e. an archer changes class to become a sniper).

The game is pure fantasy, with no guns or the like in it. It's based entirely on "traditional" weapons like swords and lances along with it's own supply of magic.

There are more than one "story-line" in the game, but since I don't want to spoil anything for you, I'll just say that each story-line builds upon the previous one.

I only have two complaints about this game...

My first problem is that you can only get a certain amount of characters in the game. If that unit "dies" (even though they really only get injured), then they're out for the rest of that story-line. This can get EXTREMELY annoying if you're not smart about who you use as cannon fodder. Every unit that you get can be crucial at certain times.

My second problem comes from my first problem. The first problem wouldn't be so bad if you could save in the middle of a battle. It IS possible to save, but it's not really like a save. It's more like putting the game on hold. If you choose the "suspend" option, then your game will be reset and you can continue a the place that you left of on. However, this does not work like a save in that you can restart and come back to that exact same place. Once you continue a suspend, the game automatically saves after each battle sequence. Because of this, you can not got back to the middle of a level where you last "saved."

Overall, I would recommend to this game to almost anyone who like to play the GBA. I'm sure that anybody who plays this will be hooked for at least a day.

too awesome
