This game is much better than the playstation version. The graphics have improved, the control is better, no blocky graphics, and actually shows Lara's fingers and her shadow! I would highly recomend that you pre-order this game. Dreamcast makes this game 100% better!

I really liked the previous Tomb Raider games. So I was looking forward to play Tomb 4 as one of my first Dreamcast games. I heard the graphics are better than on the PC versions, better sounds, new features. Well, to make it short: The graphics have not improved considerably, the sound is nice, there are more or less TWO new features: combining inventory items and swinging on ropes. Everything else and I mean EVERYTHING is exactly the same as ever before. It's more a Tomb Raider 3: "Egyptian Scenario" except that you pay more. Bottom line: Eidos is simply squeezing the last dollar out of an old idea.
A beautiful game ruined by a million little annoyances

On the surface, this game looks like the best of the tomb raider series. Massive locations, excellent graphics, decent controls (although they do take some getting used to). This game also has some of the most ingenious level designs of any Tomb Raider game, or any game period for that matter.
Unfortunately this game suffers from the biggest drawback a game can have, in my opinion. It's difficulty level is so frustratingly high that I became stuck once every 15 minutes or so of gameplay. I literally needed a walkthrough to get through most of this game. I'd play for about 10 to 15 minutes and then I'd spend 45 minutes to an hour trying to figure out what to do next. It's enough to make you want to destroy everything within a ten mile radius. I like my games to be hard enough to leave you with a feeling of accomplishment, but this is just sadistic.
If you'd like a comparison, this is the best I have. Did you ever play any of the Ninja Gaiden series on the NES? Do you remember screaming at Ryu for "death by stupidity" all the time? How about throwing controllers at the TV screen in an effort to let the game no that you are not pleased with it? That's exactly the way Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation makes me feel. It's a beautiful game that is truly enjoyable to watch someone else play, but when you play it yourself it is absolutely no fun at all.
If you do not like being frustrated by your games, stay away from this one.

The best videogame character ever produced is back for the fourth installment in the series. Unlike her previous title, which featured multiple locations, this adventure is set entirely in Eygpt. This allows the game designers to focus on the depth of the levels and put together a more coherent plot. Having visited Egyptian ruins several times, I can vouch that they have really captured the feel of the some of these great monuments.
The graphics are very appealing, with a few visual artifacts appearing occasionally (part of her leg disappearing into the floor, cracks appearing/disappearing in walls) but nothing overly distracting. And the sound is fantastic, making great use of the surround logic. The gameplay has changed somewhat, with different kinds of puzzles, combinable items, far fewer levers and no more push blocks. In my opinion, these do not make the game better or worse, just a little different.
For those of us with both a play station and a dreamcast, it is well worth it to upgrade to the dreamcast version. The difference is graphics is very noticeable. Details are crisper and more pronounced, the sound is clearer and the overall feel of the game is better. A quick comparison would involve Laura's shadow, which is a moving dot on the PSX but it a full fledged reflection on the DC.
Best Storyline of all Tomb Raiders, falls short on controls

Tomb Raider 4 was enjoyable to play, AFTER you got past the first "learn the controls" level. It was frustrating to play because you can just use the Analog to move. You push forward and back to move, and left and right to turn with the Analog, but with the D-pad forward and back are walk and left and right are side step. Thas just wack to me. Above all, the storyline was INCREDIBLE! When you buy a Tomb Raider game, you know you're gonna get somethin' awesome, but this was, like I said, INCREDIBLE! A good buy!
very fun, and chalenging, for those who like challenges

I love this game, people complain about the controls a lot, but I think that they're fine. The game is very interesting and the graphics are awesome. It will keep you playing for awhile. The puzzles and the enviroment you are in and deal with are fun and creative. I can't stop playing this game. I suggest that you go and buy it right now. Great game!

The plot and storyline of this game is great. The contols are VERY annoying. It is the most frustrating part of the game. The graphics are better on the PC versions of Tomb Raider. The movies seem like they were a half-done, rush job, get them done in time to put them in the game kind of movies. Either that or the wasn't enought space on the CD. I gave the game a 4 for graphics, a 4 for sound (it wasn't bad but it wasn't great), a 1 for conrols (I really hate the controls), a 4 for the storyline and a 3 for the overall game play coming out to 3 stars. The game, if you want something else to do to take up your time, is great.

This game is the worst game I have ever played for the Sega Dreamcast. I cant get passed the training level because the controls are so bad. I almost through my controller into the TV because I kept falling off this stupid cliff, because the controls are so terrible. This game is not worth 10 bucks, its not worth crud! Its so so so bad! I hate this game! The controls is equal to the difficulty in moving a live elephant in three circles! Ah, I am so frustrated at this game!
This game is very bad

I got bored of this game before I was even halfway through it. Repetitive gameplay, dull, flat graphics, illogical puzzles. There are loads more action/adventure games for the DC which will keep you entertained for far longer, like Code Veronica, Sonic Adventure...and there are more coming. Avoid this game;you deserve better than this lazy conversion of a lazy game.

Well I have been a fan of the tombraider games since the first one has come out and when I bought the The last Revelation for playstation, I found it was not as exciting as the other games. I mean I liked it but It got so boring that I did't want to play it anymore and now its just sitting in my draw. Its coming out this month for dreamcast and Its gonna be alot better (graphic wise) buit theres not really any improvements to it. If you liked he game for playstation then I suggest you buy it for Dreamcast but Im probably not going to buy it. Im just going to rent it.
